Any Bento Kick Box

Hi there,
I was wondering about Amy Bento's kickboxing workouts. Is it easy to follow? I can follow KPC with no problems. Does the intensity compare to Cathe? Thanks in advance!

let me first say I LOVE AMY but from her clip of her kickbox at nrgfitness.net i was just turned off by it b/c one she seems to make it complicated choreography and two her form doesn't look up to par compared to cathe. but if you can take a look at the clip and judge for yourself, its a pretty long clip. but workout wise i have found most of her videos do compare to cathe's intensity.

I love, love, love Amy's Kickbox. It's definitely not easy to follow at first - there is a learning curve, like ALL of Amy's cardio - but it's not THAT hard to learn. You do 5 combinations along with 5 intervals, and there is core work and a Bonus Bag section at the end. Her form is not great (it's a kickboxing video, not a martial arts class - and I have a blue belt in Tae Kwon Do), but if you want a workout that going to kick your tail, this is a great one. I burn a lot of calories with this one - and did from the get go. It's one of my favorite workouts.

Am I the only one who can't deal with Amy's "flying elbows" on punches?! I can handle it in Cathe's early kickboxing videos because they were done 7-8 years ago, and she's clearly developed awesome form since then but it just KILLS me to see an instructor with poor kickboxing form today. I'm tempted to send her Billy Blank's Instructional Video!

Okay, I'm done ranting over petty things.:p I do like Amy's style of instruction and personality and plan to buy her All Step Challenge II and Hi Lo extreme. Both workouts look really fun and the music sounds great too.

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.

Like the others said, Amy's form isn't the greatest, but her Kickbox Extreme is an awesome workout to torch calories. I just did it again yesterday, and it's one of those workouts where you feel so drained but accomplished by the end.

It took me a few times to get all the choreography down, but it's not too advanced.

If you can do KPC, then you can definitely do KBX!:)

I consider Amy's KBX like hi-lo with a lot of kickboxing thrown in, if that makes sense. It's not a strictly straight-up kickbox workout. It's definitely intense, though. Also, if you like KPC, maybe you'll like some of Kimberly Spreen's stuff. Have you tried Kimberly's CIA workouts Absolute Kickboxing or Cardio Camp?

I just bought Amy's Kickbox Xtreme and absolutely love it. It is loads of fun and really not that difficult to learn. I do step the majority of time and have only done a few kickboxing workouts (Cathe & Amy) but I was able to get most of the moves down the first time.

Thanks everyone for your input. I think that a little learning curve is a good thing. No, I haven't tried Kimberly Spreen, but I will look her up.

Thanks again!

The first time I tried KBX, I hated it! I thought it was the worst workout ever. I shelfed this DVD for about six months.

I revisited it out of boredom a few months ago--and the second time I did it I LOVED IT!!!!

I just did it again yesterday and thought "what an awesome workout". I will order more of her stuff eventually. I think it's intense, non-stop, hardcore cardio, that is fun, and the combinations are just complex enough to not be boring.

I'm soo glad I gave it a second chance!!

Hi,

I am really not a KB fan, but I really like Amy's KB. Her form is not great, but if you can get past that and focus on executing the moves, it is a great workout full of fun combos and plyo moves. It is sure to burn lots of calories and the time flys.

Amy's got a couple of new kickbox flavored workouts up for pre-sale this weekend. Unfortunately, I need to put a stop to ordering new workouts for a while. We are getting an envelope system going and then I can figure out a fitness budget, but for right now, no more preorders...boo hoo.

That being said, I love all of Amy's cardio, including her KBX, BUT, this is the one that frustrates me personally. There is one combo that still messes me up. Like someone else said, all of Amy's cardio has a bit of a learning curve but her cardio is tough, fun, creative, and has rockin' music! She has definitely filled a cardio nitche for me, that I personally found lacking with other instructors.
