Any Allergy Sufferers treated by NAET ?

I recently viewed an in-person presentation where a chiropractor demonstrated a laser machine that was used to detect and treat over 30 types of allergies.

Have any of you treated with this NAET method and had success? (Or know of anyone who has?)

It seems expensive, but I'm quite tired of migraines and the drippy nose that interferes with my Cathe workouts !

I haven't heard of it either but as a major sufferer, I am intrigued. Right now I basically use honey and a neti pot!

I got some info from a Naturopath because I have food intolerances (wheat, dairy and probably others) and she uses NAET that involves acupuncture for all manner of ills. It was $75 per treatment after the initial $250 consultation, none of which is covered by insurance. It might be worth a go if I thought it would work, but I am really skeptical. The fine print acknowledged that it might not work.

It would be nice if your Chiropractor could provide you with some case studies demonstrating his machine's effectiveness for starters.

I am reading "The UltraMind Solution" by Mark Hyman, M.D. He has another book "UltraMetabolism. Yes, the titles are cheesy. But he has a lot of info about how food choices (and possible intolerances), your own personal metabolic requirements, and environmental factors can cause mental and physical problems. There is a lot of stuff repeated in the 2 books, so either would be good. My mental attitude and sense of well-being made a 180-degree turn when I eliminated dairy products in December (before I found his books), so little changes can yield big results once you find out what is causing the problem.

What does "NAET" stand for?

The brochure I got from the Naturopath about NAET calls it "Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Techniques". I assume the Chiropractor's machine is a substitute for the acupuncture. Or his NAET could be something different.

Kathryn - catr is correct about what it stands for. The chiro that did the presentation has the new laser machine that, according to my "googling" is not accepted as NAET per the NAET website. That has me skeptical. Thanks for the book titles. That would be a good place to start. I have to say I did the Fat Flush plan for a few weeks and it made some differences, but I couldn't quite pinpoint what really made the differences.

Of course the dr. presented positive testimonials, but you know they would never tell you the negative. It is a $50 consult with $150 per treatment from there (one treatment per allergic reaction) to a max of $1800. And I am sure there are no guarantees.

I do believe in that our bodies react to these different substances as invaders, just not sure if it is possible to have NAET or something similar rid the body of the reactions themselves.

Original NAET is more of an accupressure than acupuncture. I just wish I KNEW someone who has gone through it. I was told that we could use our Flexible Spending Account to cover it so that would help a little.

More research to be done - but was hoping someone out here in Catheland has experience . . .

I didn't check the NAET website, so didn't know about the accupressure. It looks like the alternative practitioners are taking a NAET seminar, then adapting it to whatever modality they want to use. This is another red flag for me.
