another step question....

I'm new to Cathe and have a couple of questions about the steps.

First, I'm using the Firm and am integrating Cathe into my library and am loving it. What I have for a step is the Firm Box and it's not working for me. I'm looking to get a real step. So I'm shopping around and would like your opinions.

About the club step: is there any difference between the black/grey club step and the fuscia/teal club step other than color? I know the black one is newer, but is it better?

How does the super step compare to the club step? I know Cathe uses the super step in Slow and Heavy, but as a bench. Does anyone use it as a step?


Bottom line, what's the best, most versitile step for my money? Club step or super step?

I would buy the Club Step over the Super Step. Cathe only uses the Super Step in some of her strength training videos, never for her cardio workouts. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, in her newer strength workouts I believe she is using a Club Step with extra risers to achieve the same height as the Super Step. Also, the Club Step risers also work with the high step mini topper, a purchase you may consider in the future. The Super Step risers do not. I think you'll be happier with the Club Step because you can use it for everything.

As for color, it used to be that the black/grey combo was only available to fitness centers and gyms and the teal/purple or pink combo was what was available to the public in the retail outlets. Now with the internet it's possible to choose which color combo you want. There is no difference in the quality of the step.

Retail outlets will still only have the teal/purple or pink combo. I believe that walmart.com, fitness1st.com and fwonline.com all offer either combo for purchase. If you're not picky about color second hand fitness stores (like Play It Again Sports) often sell steps for a bargain price.

I don't think their is any difference in the color. They are the same company so I would think it is the same just a matter of who likes black&gray and fuscia/teal. I have the fuscia/teal and it is perfect.

The super step you really can't do regular step aerobics, so I would not look any further into this just because you can get the regular step and use it for weights and step. You do get 4 risers with the club step and you could always add more risers if you want. HTH

Like the others said...The Club Step! I have both and the Super Step is not stable with risers for stepping. It actually tipped on me when I was doing dips off it once and I landed hard on my tailbone! YIKES! I do use just the topper occasionally for stepping since I am coming back from an injury (I think it is 5" by istelf.) It works fine for a weight bench too. I'd definitely go for the Club Step and agree, it is nice because you can use your risers from it to make your High step higher as they intermix. Sooo, have we convinced you? :7

Thanks ladies!! As usual, you all have helped me out. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

I'll be ordering up a club step to replace my firm box. I have considered this option just because I do know I can get the high step topper and a couple of risers. This would replace my Firm Fanny Lifter. I like the idea of that because the Fanny Lifter doesn't have much traction on the top and the topper looks like it does.

Thanks for the info on Play it Again Sports. I think there's one close to me that I'll have to check out. I know it's not sold at any of the sporting goods stores around me, but I know I can get it for a decent price at Walmart.com
