I want maximum muscle size in my legs; is Leaner Legs a good tape for me?

Hey ladies,

I was one who was surprised by LL. I ordered the tape just because it was a leg workout, but then after it arrived, I decided it was "endurance" and I thought I could only gain muscle mass with slow pace, very heavy weights and few reps. Well, I was wrong.

A couple of weeks ago, I got in one of those moods where I just wanted to do something new, so I popped in LL. What a workout! The low ends in particular were very challenging and I wasn't able to do the whole work out. So, just for grins, I decided to do LL twice a week for two weeks in an attempt to master the whole thing.

At the end of two weeks (just did it last night for the last time), I'm pleased to say I can already see muscle development in my quads that I never got from SH or PS. And I did all of the workout but one set of step ups.

The only thing I can figure is, as a wimpy ectochick, I'm unable to get enough weight on my shoulders to really challenge my legs in a pure strength manner - as Cathe mentions in PS. I tend to have weak knees, too. I've had surgery on one of them.

My plan is to alternate "endurance" and "strength" workouts like this:

Week 1 & 2 (Endurance)
Leaner Legs - two times
CTX Upper Body - two times
(Work the whole body twice in one week)

Week 3
PS Series
(Work the whole body once in one week)

Week 4
SH Series
(Work the whole body once in one week)

My hope is to get the best of both worlds - gaining different benefits from the two different approaches.

Angela,

This sounds like a great idea! Hmmmm, I need to write this rotation down, holding onto it until I finish my current rotation. I have all the necessary tapes for a change, so this won't require any video searches before beginning.

Tell me, what are you doing as far as cardio is concerned during this 4 week plan? Just curious! :)

Angie

Well, actually I'm not currently doing any cardio. I read "Shape Training," which is about the only book I've ever found that gives advice tailored to specific body types. There's a wonderful chapter for "I Frames," that gives exercise, nutrition and lifestyle recommendations. It said while you are trying to "bulk up," to avoid burning extra calories. To do this, it recommends avoiding cardio and getting more sleep at night. Sounds good, huh? Ha.

I know eliminating cardio is almost unheard of, but for now, it's working for me. Dr. Connelly of Body Rx is another "expert" who takes the weight training only approach.
