Another great read!

Pixie, I have been looking to get this. Have you actually read it or planning to?

I'll add my own, The Great Deluge: Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

I just finished and it was outstanding.

Hi Sparrow. No, I haven't yet read it but I ordered it so I'm just waiting for it to arrive. I just finished Sam Harris's Letter to a Christian Nation. It was great as well. DH and I have been listening to Richard Dawkins a lot on podcasts (point of inquiry among others). I'll have to check out The Great Deluge. Sounds interesting.

While I am definitely not what one would call "Christian" (I'm "spiritual", but some would say...and have said...my beliefs are more "pagan"), the reviews of this book make me think of that guy who wrote "Natural Cures THEY Don't Want You To Know About", Kevin Trudeau. While I agree with the premise of Kevin's book, and with what he is trying to say, I get VERY frustrated with his constant reminders about "THEY" and "THEM" and about how HE has been repeatedly challenged by "THEM", blah blah blah. He could've condensed his newsletters and his book down by half and made them so much more effective if he had stayed FOCUSED, stated just the facts, had not repeated himself ad nauseam, and had kept his rants and tirades to himself. So, while I am tempted to purchase the book you've recommended here, I'm a bit fearful I might just want to throw it against the wall with the way the reviews are written. It sounds like the author is often insulting, often intolerant, and that he reminds us of that at every turn. Shades of Kevin Trudeau. ...shudder... In other words, it sounds like whatever message is being conveyed is obscured by the author's jibes and insults. I think I'll wait until this book hits my library before reading it.

But thanks for the recommendation. I WILL put it on my library list. :)

I am currently reading The Audicity of Hope by Barack Obama. I usually read most of the top ten non-fiction books but I think I'll pass on your recommendation.
