Kathryn, first let me say, I hope your leg gets better soon - that sounds horribly painful. Still can't imagine a blunt pencil protruding that far into your leg. Ouch!

I've read all your comments regarding the TLT's and P90X lately. Do you think the TLTs are the best of functional fitness and core type workouts available right now? I've only tried the Firm once and never the Yorktown or TLPs, etc. so I'm not really familiar with Tracie Long.

I'm looking to add to my mostly Cathe collection (have a few Karen Voight workouts, Tamilee, etc.) and am considering P90X and the TLTs. Are there any other workouts you'd highly recommend that are different than Cathe's? How about the P90 Masters?

Thanks for any advice. I'm on the fence...

I would have to say yes, though P90X Core Syergistics is also excellent, as are FitBall Upper Body Challenge and Lower Body Challenge (from www.balldynamics.com ). And there are some workouts and DVD's by www.performbetter.com (which is very functional fitness-oriented) that might be good (or might be quite dry and instructional!).

The P90X system is great.

I have P90 Masters as well, and have previewed the workouts, but haven't used them yet. (I planned to start a rotatio this week, but my injury might bring me back to doing rebouding and stretching or something like that instead). They do look a step below P90X in general, and some are even less intense. To me, Sculpt 5-6 (a total body workout using some interesting and effective-looking moves in an effective sequence) and Interval Cardio (very athletic-looking drills, done in three intensities) and UML (upper-middle-lower. a resistance workout) look the best to me. But I will reserve judgement until doing them all as a rotation, since Beach Body series (especially Tony's) often work best synergistically (so the less-intense workouts balance the more-intense workouts).

Mindy Mylrea has some workout that are more functionally-fitness oriented than Cathe's , but less so than TLT's. She often uses medballs, body bars , balance devices, etc, iin her workouts. I just picked up " Action Packed" and " Interval Express" (two workouts from 2000-2001) on DVD, and they look good from the previews. (Some people might find MIndy too goofy, and she sometimes has a " potty mouth," like having to giggle when she says " balls" or talking about havig her " nipples on straight" but I see that as part of her playfulness.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Decisions, decisions...but you've helped to narrow down the choices. P90X is a bit pricier so I might hold off and ask for that for my birthday. Until then, I'll consider the TLT's or look into the FitBall workouts. Then maybe I'll consider Mindy. But maybe by then there'll be more "must have" workouts (like the Jari Love more advanced ones perhaps?).

I'll be looking forward to your opinions of P90 Masters after you're able to try them out.

Thanks,
Melissa
