An interesting fitness routine

We went out to dinner Monday night to this really nice restaurant that overlooks an inlet. The view of the boats & water is lovely & occasionally you see the boats entering/exiting the inlet.

Imagine my surprise when I looked up halfway through dinner to see this small form paddling toward us. As it got closer I realized it was a guy lying on his stomach on a surfboard. He was going fast too. As he paddled he pulsed one leg--kind of like a ham curl--and would switch legs on occasion (I have no idea what his gauge was for this--distance? Number of pulses? Time? Or, for that matter, where he started, where he finished, how long he did this, etc.).

Anyway, it looked pretty tough. He was moving at a good pace & I was thinking this guy's getting a cardio AND full body workout at the same time. Probably his legs weren't worked very hard but I can see how almost every muscle in his upper body would be. Very cool & creative. Something I probably will not have the courage to attempt. :eek:
