Amy Bento's Slow Mo

I can't believe that I am asking this question because I love Cathe's workouts so much--all of them including cardio & weights. But I have been looking at Collagevideo.com and was wondering about Amy's Slow Mo series. It looks pretty good but didn't know how is compares to Cathe. I am getting STS but I was also thinking about trying other weight workouts too. What does everyone think?

Thanks
Kristen

I did Slow Mo for about a month. I did not like it as much as Cathe but I thought it was still good and gave me some variety to avoid burn out. I think it is easy to get bored with working out if you do the same instructor all the time even if it is a really good one like Cathe.

I really like Slo-Mo. Amy does a lot of really different exercises and I found it nice to have a little variety in my weight-lifting. My only negative would be that she does three sets of everything and, because you are working slow to begin with, it can begin to feel a little tedious. I usually just do two sets and skip the third.

If you do decide to purchase I would recommend buying it through Total Fitness(www.totalfitnessdvds.com) It is MUCH cheaper than Collage, super fast shipping and Mary really provides great customer service(and coupons!):)

I like Amy's Slo Mo workout, too. It's a nice change and her exercises hit my muscles in a different way than Cathe's workouts do.

I LOVE Amy's Slo-Mo! It is a great compliment to Cathe's weight work. I have to tell you, when I started using Slo-Mo regularly, I was able to lift heavier with my Cathe weight work. It just targets the muscles in a different way that works really well when alternated with Cathe. :)

Another vote for Total Fitness DVD's. Great service and fast shipping and best of all great prices. I've been getting into Amy's cardio but I might have to get Slo-Mo. I just didn't think anything else weight wise would be worth it.

Okay, the anal side of me just realized that I spelled "complement" wrong. I can't edit anymore, so here's letting everyone know that it should be "complement"! ;-)

Another recommendation for Slo-Mo here. There aren't that many weights DVDs around apart from Cathe that get you lifting decent weights and this is one of them. The exercises are very different to the ones done with Cathe so they complement them really well.

I agree with Pippa on sometimes skipping the third set. There's a two-set leg premix which works perfectly.

You won't regret buying it!

I never got around to using my "Slow-Mo" workouts, and finally decided to put them on my Ebay pile (which is where they are right now). The last time I 'repreviewed" (trying to motivate myself to do them), I was so turned off by Amy's way of handling the weights (not necessarily during the exercises, but when picking them up and putting them down: bending at the waist) and questioned some of the moves, that I couldn't bring myself to try them (there are other reasons as well, including the fact that I need to cull some things from my 200+ workout DVD collection, and I'd rather do Tony Horton workouts).

I like Slo Mo and I see the advantages of it, especially lower body. But S&H drives me batty after a week - this one can drive me absolutely insane because the excercises are 8-16 counts per rep. By the time I get to the third set the dogs have fled the workout room in fear for their very souls. :p It's one of those that I like and I would love to do a full rotation, however I think I might be arrested for a heinous crime if I did.

Hi all,

I like Amy for cardio, she is really fun and inventive. I guess I'm in the minority, but I did not like Amy's Slo Mo. For me there is a limit to modifications to exercises and her modifications just don't work for me. Maybe I was going too heavy. I don't know, but if it wasn't for the core work on Slo Mo I would trade it because I will never do the weight work again.
