Amy Bento Hi/Lo Extreme

OK I saw the mixed reviews on the kickbox workout, which I haven't tried yet.

But I did try her Hi/Lo this morning & I must say this is an excellent workout. Pretty high intensity level--I would say about as close to Cathe as I've gotten so far other than Tony Horton--choreography was not too complex. I did find myself fumbling here & there but WTH, it was my first try.

So, to anyone looking to mix up their cardio a little, this one gets 2 thumbs up from me. Any other thoughts?

I liked this one a lot. I've done it quite a few times and it gets better and better. Those shuffles are a bit of a space hog, but besides that I don't have any complaints.

Great workout! I also loved the KBX dvd also! Amy is really up and coming, I am looking forward to her next video endeavor. The premixes on these dvds are excellent also!

I just ordered it, but haven't gotten it yet. I was looking for some intense hi-lo, and after I was assured that there aren't too many space-hog moves and that the ones that there are can be easily modified (the preview I saw looked pretty space hungry), and decided that the bonus weight workout footage sounded pretty good as well, I caved. Even though I have issue with Amy's form and choreo in the Kbox workout, I do like her as an instructor, and wanted to try something else from her.

Hi/lo Xtreme has all but 7 minutes of footage from All Pump Xtreme. Those 7 minutes are the multi-joint moves. You have to chapter-forward and skip around a bit in the premixes to fine it, but it's all there. One hour and 52 minutes of strength moves.

That's quite a bonus on this DVD! And what made me order it.

Laura!! I did it this morning for the first time too:). I worked up a good sweat and figure I got about 90% of the choreography down. I'll definitely get my money's worth out of this one. I've always loved a good hi/lo workout, her mix of moves and combo lengths were enjoyable and once I get the choreo down I can dig in that much more! }( Nice to find some more high intensity instructors out there!

Take Care

Well, dang, even though I said I would never order b/c of shady business practices I may have to break down on this one. I was looking at APX but since the hi/lo is only missing 7 minutes...this may be the way to go...
For those who have APX...do you like it? How does it differ from Cathe? Is it challenging? Someone said she was original and creative in APX...how so? TIA!

I think this was the best video of the entire set. It's intense, fun, and creative as far as adding new moves in that aren't just filler moves, and ones that I haven't seen anywhere else.

Has anyone tried any of the combined HLX and APX premixes? I was wondering how you dealt with all the equipment changes. First you do a hi-lo circuit, then you have to drag your step, risers and various weights out to do a weight segment, then put it all back again, etc....I'd like to combine the two, make it like a Cathe ciruit workout, but I don't know how I'd get around the equipment issues. I was thinking of just using a stability ball in lieu of a step.

If your TV is set up to work it out, maybe you could do both setups on either side of the room? That's what I do with Drill Max--I have my yoga mat in the back of the room & my step in the front. The weights & stability ball stay somewhere in the middle so I can grab them from wherever I happen to be. It's worked out pretty well.

I wish I had your exercise space!

Extra space!?!?!?! LOL! My LR is something like 12X18. But the TV is in a corner so I can use the back & front of the room. The yoga mat is on one side of the coffee table, the step is on the other side. I do occasionally bump into walls or furniture. Trust me when I tell you there are certain sections of DM (especially walking lunges--I have to step over a couple things & I typically hit the entertainment center when I'm doing that turning/lateral raise thing) where I have to be very creative.......:p
