I'm 13 weeks pregnant. I know I'm in the second trimester. Am I 3 1/2 months pregnant or 4 months pregnant? I'm a little bit confused with this.

I believe that you are 3 1/2 months pregnant. I have the same confusion too. But it makes sence if you go by 1-4 weeks you are 1 and continue you end up at 36-40 being ten months which isnt' right, so I don't think you count the first 4 weeks. Strange I know, but that is how it works I guess.
Even though I am trying for a baby...I did already have 1.I think the misconception about how far along you are is in the weeks.You may be 12 weeks but not 3 monthes.Some monthes have 5 weeks in them and others only have 4.The majority of monthes have about 4 1/2 weeks in them.So just b/c you are 12 weeks you may not be 3 monthes.Say if you are due on april 26, then the 26th of every month,I would consider that to be one more month.I made the same mistake,I thought I was further along then what I was and then I had to back track.Its not fun back trackingx(

I find it's safer to go by weeks or give your due date & let others calculate your months.

(but just for the record...I think your 4 months because you're in your fourth month and it sounds much more encouraging than 3 months....and runathon I don't like you AT ALL....shame on you for not counting the first two weeks even though you're right, you really aren't pregnant at all, but they do count these weeks probably to give us a psychological boost - you know so we feel just a little farther along than we really are ) And how's that for a run-on sentence!!!!

I have 2 children and always was confused by this before I had my first. The weeks start with the first day of your last period, so, when you actually get pregnant, the way the weeks are counted, it's like you're already 2 weeks. I know it sounds wierd, but that's the way it is. I think that the 40 week assumption is that the average woman would be pregnant for 10 cycles, based on a 28 day cycle.
