AM exercisers..Question about weekend workouts?

I usually wake up between 4:30/5:00 am Mon-Fri to workout. I was taking a Sat. morning kickbox class, but the instructor is no longer there. The only reason I was motivated to get up and go to a class was because my sister use to go with me. I would really like to add Saturday workouts at home, but am lacking motivation. During the week, I am pretty much on a strict schedule, so I just get up and do it. I get my 5 days in which is fine, but an extra day wouldn't hurt. Especially since the holidays are coming up. Do you AM exercisers still get up at the same time to workout on the weekends?

Since I'm up at 4:15 AM most mornings during the week to workout, I let myself sleep on weekends. I get up, have coffee and something to eat, and do whatever needs to be done until breakfast digests, then I workout. It's a nice break and I still get in my weekend workouts, but I also get to sleep which by Saturday morning I really need to do.

I do the same as Carole, on the weekdays I'm up by 5:30 to start my workouts at 6. On weekend I usually get up around 7, start my workouts around 8 and I usually do longer workouts since I'm not in a hurry to rush out the door to go to work. I take advantage of the extra time on the weekends, its my favorite days to train.

I also am exercising by 5:15 am during the week. I either do a 5 or 6 day workout schedule. I always take Wednesday off - it's hard getting up that early especially if I'm up later than usual at night.
On the weekends I will usually be working out by 7:00. If I do a Saturday workout, it's usually an hour. On Sunday, I usually do a 1-1/2 to 2 hr workout. Cardio and weights.

Hope this helps.

I am up relatively late on the weekdays compared to a the "real" morning exercisers here--I get up at 6 to workout by 6:30. On weekends I sleep in, then have tea and something to eat before I workout. I have the hardest time getting going on Saturday mornings, though--half the time I don't get started until 11 or 12, and I hate that! But I'm a real slug on the weekend. I struggle with this all the time--wish there was some way to get going earlier, but I never seem to find the motivation.

Being a SAHM, I will do my week day work outs either prior to 9am while Joey is still asleep or I will wait until he goes down for his first nap around 11am so as you can see I'm not what you call an "EARLY MORNING" exerciser. Even with that though, my schedule for working out is much "looser" on the weekends...with DH around I can w/o kind of whenever I feel like it so if I'm not in the mood for it at my "usual times" I will just do it when the mood strikes me...:)

I try to do something totally different on the weekends. My husband and I like to ride bikes or go on a hike. Sometimes we get in the car and drive to a beautiful neighborhood--a place with gorgeous homes and yards--and walk there. It's nice doing things with my DH--It's the only time he has to w/o and it's the only chance we have to do it together.

I am usually up by 4:45am to start my workout during the week (having trouble, though, lately). On the weekends, I let myself enjoy sleeping in and wake up to coffee and a little something to get my body going - and I workout shortly after that. BUT, if I have something going on I make sure to get it in before things get in the way so I would miss it.

Priorities! ;-)

I'm usually up at 4 and working out by 5AM. On weekends I sleep in, then take my time. Today it's 10AM and I'm still in my PJ's, drinking coffee (late night last night - friends came over). I'm working my way around to getting dressed and doing IMax 3 and then some Yoga.

Hi Aila! How are ya?...:)...On weekends I do still get up early 5 or 5:30, must be my bodyclock. Sat I usually workout later in the day as I go to church by 8:40. But Sundays are always my long runs and I know it drives my sister nuts during Football season as I try to get in a long run before 10:00!!! Thank God for Tivo though...http://smilies.sofrayt.com/sae/jogging.gif[/img]..Carole

Sunday is my "off" day, but sometimes do yoga...Saturdays are pretty much "workout when I get the chance" days...Sometimes it's just taking the dog for a run while my daughter rides her bike, but those days are limited in the winter (we're in MN)...I don't fret if I miss a Saturday workout...5 days a week I'm pretty hardcore (maybe not to some on the board!), so it's no big deal!

I find I'm better off following the week-day schedule:

Wake up, drink coffee and watch TV for one hour to get the cobb webs out of my head and then head for the basement to work out. If I wait too long (like today!) I'll just skip it. I'll admit that I WAS very tired, so I think it really was wise to skip today.
Just Do It! :)

Like a lot of others, I too like my sleep on the weekends. I usually am up before 5 during the week, but don't even set the alarm on Sat. I have my coffee, breakfast, usually it isn't before 11 that I exercise. Today it was 3!! It usually is a longer workout, but at the same time more relaxed...I don't have to be anywhere! Plus this is the time I can swim or weather permitting, do outdoor activities like inline skating (ice-skating soon!) :-(

I usually sleep in on the weekends and workout later in the day. I like to use the weekends for longer workouts since I have more time and am not rushing to get to work.

I'm exactly the opposite of you, Aila. On weekdays it's all I can do to get myself to work on time, and more often then not I'm late to work. On weekends I get to exercise all I want and I love it! I'm totally a weekend warrior. I sleep in on Saturday, have a leisurely breakfast, then go to the gym and do my strength training when I feel like it. For me, working out is my fun. If working out is more like work for you, you should definitely take the weekends off and enjoy life; or do something completely different than you do the rest of the week, like go ride your bike or take a yoga class. Just MHO.
