Allergies!

I'm sure others are feeling the same way, so I just wanted to complain a little, I am experiencing allergies like I have NEVER experienced in my life. They had been normally bad until Monday night, now I have symptoms that I've just never had, I feel just miserable, the Zyrtec I took doesn't help, I get very lethargic from it, but I experienced a breathing situation that I can only liken to asthma during a workout on Monday, then the itchy eye started, that is a horrible feeling, and today my tongue and mouth feel swollen, and my breathing feels a bit restricted.

Of course I also have the standard sneezing, and runny nose, which I can totally tolerate, but this swollen feeling is really annoying and a little scary. I worked out and was fine today, but just wanted to say, this sucks! :(

Thanks for listening.

I really feel for you and the situation you are in with allergies. While I am OK my DH is just like you. It is always pretty bad for him but it usually starts on Memorial Day weekend but this year it started around May 8. Zyrtec barely does anything and he is just a mess. His breathing is restricted and plus sneezing etc. He gets some relief from a neti pot and just recently ordered some nasal spray from Australia that someone suggested. This is going to be a bad year I think. If the spray works I will let you know. It helps if he stays inside in the air conditioning but it is still too chilly for that. We live in upstate NY.

I'd be careful with the swelling and breathing issues! Those symptoms could be more related to asthma.

I have had allergies most of my life since I was about 12. Only recently is was experiencing difficulty breathing when rollerblading or doing anything more exertional than walking fast. I was tested and diagnosed with asthma. Since getting that under control, I've had no issues except for the occasional sinus congestion with the usual suspects for symptoms.

If these symptoms continue, definitely check in with your doctor! You may need to be tested for asthma.

Dela: get thee to the allergy doctor! You don't want to mess around with breating problems... it may be nothing, but better safe than sorry! I have had more allergies in the last two years since moving to the desert than I have had in my entire life! and I can tell when we have had a little rain because the next day I'm gonna not be able to breathe! I went to the doc a year ago, and started on some meds that have helped, but not completely...

but I totally agree that you need to go see a doctor and get things checked out!

Thanks everyone! I'm going to give it a few days, then next week make an appointment if things don't clear up. At least get that breathing test people have mentioned that can tell if you have asthma.
