<---'s dog, Gilda, has been feeling bad since Saturday night, and she's getting worse.
<---has a vet appt. for her at 9:15, and is very scared. Gilda is usually so spry and active, but <---had to carry her half-way up the stairs last night.

<---thought maybe it was just a cold, or maybe she'd eaten a squirrel (yep, she's fast enough to catch them, and has done so a couple of times, and it has always made her lethargic and slow-moving); this is different.

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts for Miss Gilly-girl. Well, we don't know anything for certain yet. It could be a disc problem, or some type of muscle deterioration. OR, it could be cancer or something that only a blood test can determine. They took a blood sample, and we should have the results tomorrow. They gave her an injection of fluid because she was a little dehydrated, and a steroid shot to just make her feel better for the next couple of days.
Either is sad, but the disc or muscle issue would be better in the long run; we could give her anti-inflammatories so she could live comfortably with it. It’s just so sad because she’s always been the athletic one, the one that looks like she's hugging you because she could stay on her back legs so long and put her paws around your neck. DH swears she has “the call of the wild” because we’d have to keep her on a leash when we went camping or to the beach because she would just zoom away, going after a scent, trying to catch birds in the air!
Okay, gotta go now, and shut my door so I can have a little cry…those little furry babies sure can break our hearts, can’t they?
