Album cover art?

I know I am showing my age with this post. DH had to empty out our stereo cabinet this afternoon so he could move it. He is perusing all our old albums as he replaces them. He was ogling Herb Alpert's Whipped Cream cover and remembering how it affected him when he was 13.

I remember loving all of Roger Dean's art work for Yes album covers.

And who could forget the Sargent Pepper's cover?

I may be an old fuddy duddy, but CDs and downloads just aren't the same!

OMG! My dad had that whipped cream album, I remember my sisters and I sneaking peeks at it and giggling like a bunch of ninnies.:p

OMG! What a memory for me.

My father had the whipped cream album. He used that album cover to distract me when he was about to yank my first tooth out!

I was crying, frightened, and didn't want my tooth pulled.
He tied a string around my tooth, and I cried and cried big alligator tears.
He brought out that album cover and talked to me about the lady in the whipped cream. I stopped crying, he yanked my tooth!
I got a shiny new quarter from the tooth fairy!!! Spent in on candy:9

Ohhhhhhhhh, oh man, I miss the good old days of vinyl. I didn't have the Herb Alpert album but I had the other 3 and the covers were AWESOME!! I completely agree -- CD's and downloads, while convenient, are lacking in so many ways. And actually, I think vinyl sounds better. Anyone else agree with me about that?

Heck, yeah, I remember that cover! That was a l-o-o-o-o-o-o-ong time ago! Herb Albert was hot stuff in his time. I wonder if he has a theater in Branson....;-) Old musicians never die - they just build theaters in Branson!

Oh my gosh, on the Prince fansite I frequent, the folks there are forever starting threads on "worst album covers of all time."

I am from MN and have been a fan of the local band Soul Asylum for a long time. Remember them? In any event, they had an album called "Clam Dip & Other Delights." I had it before I'd ever heard of Herb Alpert's "Whipped Cream & Other Delights" (which is displayed above!!) Here is the Soul Asylum album cover:

And here are some covers that ALWAYS seem to make it on the "Worst Album Covers" threads:

Yes, I did! I thought I pasted the link in there. Thank you!

Note to self, download Abraxas from itunes. :7

Paul's death was signified by him being barefoot and out of step with the others. John, in white, is the minister. Ringo is the pallbearer and George is the gravedigger. The VW has a plate that says 28 IF. Paul would have been 28 if he were alive.

Oh yeah! I remember that!

Oh boy, this is a great thread, Thanks Robin!!

Tete, you remind me of my DH -- you have a mind like a steal trap for trivia -- lol! I mean that as a very great compliment. ;)

I give credit to THAT tidbit of info from my dear friend, Jeannie, who turned me on to Kate Bush in the first place. She's the one who told me the legend that went with the album cover. So cool, dark, and romantic!!!
