Albany NY, Going to visit, anything exciting to do there..

My sister and her husband live in that area with my neice, Morgan, who turns one next Saturday. I'm going to the birthday party there and flying out of MI.

You aren't far from Saratoga and Lake George. In Saratoga there's a race track and an outdoor concert center and spas. In Lake George there is lots to do around the water.

Saratoga racetrack is only open in August and SPAC hasn't opened yet. Lake George is nice with lots of good restaurants and an outlet mall for shopping. The State Museum is good for killing an hour. There are two good shopping malls...Crossgates and Colonie Center, although Colonie Center is in the midst of a remodel.

The race track isn't too fun unless it is in season but if you like harness racing you can always hit the racino for racing and primo people watching.

There is some awesome hiking in both the Catskills and Adirondacks. I just returned from a nice little weekend in Woodstock if you're into the artist/hippie scene.
