Airport to hotel transportation info for Rapid Rover

Hi everyone!

Here’s the information for Rapid Rover, a shuttle service between the Philadelphia airport and our hotels. We've done quite a bit of price scouting on airport transport options, and Rapid Rover appears to offer the best deal.

Their largest vans accommodate 10 people. The cost from the Philly airport to the Fairfield Inn or Residence Inn is at a discounted rate of $20 per person one way (in other words, $40 for your airport-hotel weekend round trip).

The cost from the Five Points Diner to Philly Airport is $31 for the first person and $10 per additional adult.

Please note that Rapid Rover will allow two pieces of luggage plus one carry-on item per person. One or two extra pieces would result in an additional charge of $2.00 each. More than two extra pieces or bulky items may result in a direct service rate (non shared ride).

From Philly Airport to Hotels:

Upon your arrival at the airport, retrieve your luggage and proceed to the ground transportation counter located in the baggage claim area. Dial 21 on the courtesy phone to reach the Rapid Rover dispatcher. Your driver will arrive at curbside within 20 minutes.

From Hotels to Philly Airport:

After you check into the hotel, you will need to contact Rapid Rover [font color="#FF0000"]AT LEAST 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE[/font] to reserve your return trip. You will need to provide them the name of your hotel, your hotel room number, and when your flight leaves.

From Five Points Diner to Philly Airport:

After you check into the hotel, you will need to contact Rapid Rover [font color="#FF0000"]AT LEAST 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE[/font] to reserve your return trip. They will pick you up at Five Points Diner between 2 and 2 ½ hours prior to your departure flight time as Rapid Rover wants to get you to the airport 90 minutes prior to your departure.

This shouldn't be a problem at all. The folks at Rapid Rover indicated that they would prefer 48 hours notice; not that it was a hard requirement. :)

So all we need to worry about is transportation from the Diner or Hotel to the airport on Sunday? We do not need to make a reservation to be picked up from the airport upon arrival and taken to our hotels?

Just want to make sure I am reading this correctly.

You are reading this correctly. You only need to make a reservation for your return trip. The only thing you need to do at the airport is to dial 21 on the courtesy phone at the ground trasportation counter to reach the Rapid Rover dispatcher.

Just chiming in here to tell you all that Miss Lorrayne did ALL the work on this airport transport stuff -- and she is SOME kinda price shopper, so rest assured that she got you all the best available deal.

We suggest that you print Lorrayne's original post and put it with your important travel documents for the Road Trip so that you'll have Rapid Rover's phone number handy.

Remember, the critical basics are:
** When you land in Philly, dial 21 on any airport courtesy phone and Rapid Rover will dispatch a van to pick you up and take you to the hotel. That van will arrive curbside to pick you up within 20 minutes. See Lorrayne's post for pricing and info on baggage limitations.

** If you know for SURE where you need to be picked up from on Sunday, you can go to the Rapid Rover counter (or call them) while you're waiting for the van to take you to the hotels, and you can make your reservation for your Sunday morning/afternoon return trip to the airport right then and there. OR, you can call later from the hotel. See Lorrayne's post for pricing and baggage limitations info for this return trip.

Hi and thanks for all the info, I do have one question though. My flight will leave at 2:45 on Sunday, but after the brunch, I will need to go back to the hotel to get my kids. Will this be possible? Thanks so much for all your help. Sandy

Do you mean ride the Rapid Rover to the hotel and then, leave from there to go to airport? Or, do you have transportation back to hotel? The RR will pick you up at hotel and take you to airport. Not sure I am understanding??? I need to leave here right now but will check back in tonight.

We definitely plan to have quite a few Road Trippers returning from the Diner to the hotels via the bus that Cathe is providing for us for the weekend, and you can certainly hop on the bus after the brunch if you feel that your flight time permits that. We will be having the bus pick up from the Diner to return to the hotels as close to 11:00 as possible (but to be safe, you should figure on the possibility of it being a little after 11:00). Transport from the Diner to the hotels is only 15 minutes, I believe -- we will confirm that too!

If this time frame is comfortable for you, then you'd need to make your own reservation with Rapid Rover to pick up you and your kids from the hotel and scoot to the airport.

If I rent a car are these places pretty easy to get to? I'm thinking it will just be a little easier to drive to and from the airport. Should I print out mapquest directions beforehand to the gym & diner, etc? My return flight is at 2:15 so I could just drive to the class that morning then follow the bus to the diner then leave for the airport from there right? Any thoughts or reasons why I should not rent one? I'd still take the bus over Fri. & Sat. with the roadtrippers.

Yes, you can rent a car. We are in the process of writing directions to get you from Philly airport to the hotels. We're also working on directions for the return trip from both the Diner and the hotels.

Hi Debbie, thanks for answering. Yes I will need transportation from the brunch to the hotel, then I will have RR pick us up. I don't want to create any problems though so i can come alone if necessary. I have never really traveled like this before and so I am nervous, thanks so much for all your help! Sandy:)
