Aerobics and/or kickboxing shoes?

Hi everyone :) I need some advice... I'm looking for a good pair of shoes to use specifically for working out indoors, such as for Cathe's tapes, or the Kickbox/Sports Conditioning class I'm taking. For years, I've just used my running shoes, but I know (and have known) that they don't work so well, not to mention the fact that they wear out much much much more quickly! x( Especially when I'm doing kickboxing or quick movements, I tend to roll a little, and slosh around in my shoes. If anyone could help me out, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
Sara

I have been using New Balance 608, a cross training shoe with about 1/2 to 3/4 cut up on the ankle since I have similar ankle issues. I work out on carpet and floor, they seem to be good and supportive. Just my $.02. :)

Well, this is probably all wrong and will probably cause irreversible damage to my feet, but I just bought a pair of Ryka yoga shoes and I LOVE them. I use them for both aerobics and weight training on carpet.

I always appreciate your guys' $.02 :)

Do you generally buy these shoes online? Or is there a store that carries them? In my small town, only a handful of athletic shoes are carried, and they are mostly for men. I'm guessing I'm going to have to search online, but, of course, you don't get to try them on. If there is a specific store that carries these kinds of shoes, I could make a trip to Salt Lake or Reno (I'm smack dab in the middle of both, and both are more than 4 hours away) Any suggestions? :-(

Thanks
Sara :D

I used to live near Genoa, NV. I loved it.

If I were you, I'd go to Reno or Salt Lake sometime when you had to go there for some other reason anyway, and try on lots of shoes at some large place like D!ick's or Lady Foot Locker or whatever. Go to whichever has the most stores. I used to go to Reno, an hour away, for occasional shopping needs. I think it would have enough to allow you to find some nice stuff. I would not want to buy shoes off the internet unless I was pretty sure they would fit because of my being familiar with the style.

Once you do get to Reno, get a couple of pairs if you can afford it, since they often discontinue styles you really like. Two pairs of shoes should last you quite a while.
