Aerboic floor

>Does anyone have one in their house? Do I need one?

most people get exercise mats, that look sort of like children's foam puzzle mats. I got mine at Target in the exercise equipment section,(they are black) where the hand weights and steps, etc are. They help absorb the impact of, well,, most of Cathe's vidoes. When Cathe does plyo jacks etc, you really want to be on something that will help absorb the impact, to help protect the knees and joints. I know they help me, but some may not use them. I have enough to cover my exercise area, not my entire garage!! :)

I have the puzzle mats from Home Depot. Mine are multi-colored.

I have TWO layers of them over tile. One is just not enough, trust me!

Just remember, when you start layering these mats, to make sure they are still firm enough to support your ankle. You don't want them so squishy that your ankle wobbles.

I just recently bought some at Lowe's and am anxious to see how they work. I haven't tried them yet though. And mine are black, 2x2 feet each, and come in a 4-pack. I think they're about 3/8 inch thick.

This might be a stupid question, but do you keep them on your floor all the time, or just when exercising? I workout on a hard wood floor with a room-sized rug (with no pad underneath) over it. I really feel like I need more cushioning.

I saw these mats in Target, and was thinking about getting enough to cover my workout area, but taking them up when I'm not using them. Does that make sense?

I just removed my puzzle matts. I was wobbling with lunges and cushioning in them . I had a heck of a time doing higher impact w/ them. I do have carpeting under them. I had the 3/4 in thick ones.
They are now sitting in a corner. All 250.00 worth.

JMO, but i almost killed myself w/ them. If you are going over a hard floor they may be great. Just didn't work for me.

Two layers of the mats over tile is not anything close to "cushy". It is almost NOT cushioned enough. I think it's very different depending on what kind of floor you have underneath. My tile over cement floor is completely unforgiving.

RE: Aerboic floor and doubling up puzzle mats.

I have the kids puzzle mats. They felt great when I first put them down on my ceramic tile floor, but I've been aware that really I should have got them thicker ones designed for athletic flooring.

If anyone has doubled them up (layer-wise), how does this work out? Do they stay in place? I thought maybe the two layers together might tend to cause lateral shifting.

Jean-Marie - I've got tile and concrete too. And I've got a stress fracture from too much hard impact. I'm new into the mats, so thanks for your input about the cushion factor.

My mats are placed wall to wall, so there is no shifting. Check out my picturetrail to see how they are placed!

JM!!!

I am SO jealous...your workout area looks A-MAZING! You should start charging membership fees and letting people come and workout there; it definitely looks better than the gym I used to belong to!

WOW!!!
