adjustable dumbell question

Hi guys.
What do you think of loading one side of an adjustable dumbell with slightly more weight than the other side? My problem is that I need a 12 pound dumbell, but when I load the mini bar with 5 lb.s on both sides it makes a 15 pound dumbell, but with 3 on each side it's only 11 pounds. Tonight for S&H I split the difference and put a 3 on one end and a five on the other, making a 13 pound dumbell. Could the difference in weight distribution cause any problems, do you think?
Thanks!
Wendy :)

Hi Wendy!

I have one set of plate mates that weigh only 1 1/4# each. Many times, I only use one on each dumbbell. For instance, I'll add it to my 10# dumbbells, making each one 11 1/4 pounds. I have not had a problem since both weigh the same. Just my opinion.

RE: Hi Wendy!

I load my dumbells unevenly sometimes also. They balance in my hands just find if I adjust my grip. It's especially easy for overhead triceps presses. I create a 22 1/2 pound dumbell that way.
