Cathlete
Hi Everyone,

I started out with Cathe back in June with BS/BF. I now have SS/PP, KPC/LG, and Imax 2/CW. I am in the market for a few new Cathe DVDs and looking for some suggestions.

A little about me – I typically do 4 cardio and 2 weight sessions per week (an hour each). I also try to do ab work 3-4 times per week too. I have a full size step, high step, a barbell, various dumbbells (3, 5, 8 & 10 lbs), and a stability ball. I really enjoy step and kickboxing, and hi-lo is okay. I would like a longer step workout (around an hour or so) and some more challenging weight work. Should I stick with the newer stuff from the BB and IS series, or should I look at some of the older step DVDs? What are your thoughts on the Pyramids vs. ME/BC DVD?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Valerie

Hi Valerie!

I'm going to say what I'm sure many (if not most) others will say...just get 'em all...you're going to eventually, anyway! LOL However...if you need to start off, ahem, a little slower than that here are my suggestions...if you enjoy Imax 2, I'd definitely go for Step Blast...soooo much fun!! If you enjoy KPC, you definitely need Cardio Kicks in your collection...another great kickboxing workout! As far as the Pyramids and ME/BC go, I love all of those workouts! Seriously! You can't go wrong with any/all of them...can you tell I don't think Cathe's made a bad workout? lol...good luck and have fun! :)

I'd definitely go for the Step Blast/Step Jump & Pump dvd even if you arent a big fan of hi lo b/c the Step Blast is awesome, and hi lo in SJP is short but very fun. Also the dvd has so many premixes that omit the hi lo anyways so you it's not really an issue.

For more serious weight training I'd go for the Pyramid dvd over the BC/ME dvd. The boot camp dvd is great but the Pyramid dvd is more hard core weight training.

Have fun!

Hi Valerie.

I would personally stick with the newer stuff (i.e. BB and IS). I think they are more challenging and way more fun then the older stuff. Plus you get premixes with the newer stuff, so you end up with many more workout options.

For step, my favorite workout is Step Blast. The Step Blast/SJP DVD is a must have. For weights, my favorites are The Pyramids and Push Pull (the longer premixes, that is, which you already have). Slow and Heavy is very effective as well, but not necessarily as much fun (it requires a lot more focus than usual).

As far as older workouts go, IMAX 1 is great: very intense and about an hour long. You might want to add this DVD to your "wish list" too since it also comes with Rhythmic Step and MIC (another intense one). I'd still get SB/SJP and the Pyramids first, though.

You will end up with them all eventually, so consider yourself forewarned!

Have fun,

hi Valerie. You have to buy the dvd with bootcamp and muscule endurance.I think it is the best dvd of exercise i have never known.Bootcamp is awesome and I use the upper body premix a lot. If you like step go to IMAX 2,SB and SJP.I love the music of these workouts.I prefer the intensity series than the body blast series but in the BB series you have a lovely workout KPC,SB and SJP.I do not use PP/SS. I prefer ME, the ctx series upper body and power hour for endurance.
