Actitrainer, bodybugg or ????

Does anyone have either the Actitrainer, Bodybugg or other tool that tracks calories burned throughout the day???

The gym has a deal on the bodybuggs so I need to decide soon if I want that. It is the old model since a new (probably smaller) version is coming out in a couple of months. I like the concept but not sure about wearing this thing around my arm all the time and whether it will show with clothes other than thicker sweaters.

The Actitrainer is worn on your waist and that is more appealing but the bodybugg seems more common.

Can anyone help????? I want to lose weight and I think having more info on calories I am burning will be some beneficial and motivating info for me to help in the process. Thanks.

I got the bodybugg when it first came out and loved it! (They use this program on The Biggest Loser). It is annoying wearing the thing on your arm at first, but you really get used to it. Although it does show with clothes since it is kinda bulky. But if you can deal with that, it is awesome!

I've had a bodybugg for almost three years now and still love it -- even more since I recently upgraded to the "new" model (it's been out a year, I think) that has a digital display.

If I'm seriously trying to lose weight, I wear it every day all day.

I've also only worn it for the time that I'm at home to get an estimate of what I'm burning. My DH has taken my old bugg and will wear it on the weekends sometimes to get an idea of what he burns to help with his calorie intake.

I haven't had a horrible problem with it showing under clothes, but I work from home so haven't had to wear it with a suit or anything.

Ramona - by display do you mean the "watch"? I haven't seen that but was thinking about that too so I can see how I am doing throughout the day. I am really hoping this would motivate me to add some extra activity here and there.

thanks.

Yes, I meant the watch. I had the bodybugg for so long without it, that once I got the watch I was REALLY happy with it! It used to be a pain to have to log-in to see where I was at. Now I only log-in once a day or so and use the display throughout the day.

I rarely wear it as a watch, which is why I think of it as a "display". It also comes with a little clip that I use instead of the watchband. I clip the display on my sports top, but it could also clip to your shorts/tights/pants. By using the clip, I can still wear my HRM if I want when I workout and not have a watch on each wrist.

The best part, for me, is the "trip" view. I reset it before I start a workout and it shows the calories burned per minute during the workout. I usually leave it on "trip" during the day as I find it easier for me to keep my activity up that way (I start moving around anytime it gets below 2.5 cal/m).

For me, it's taken the guesswork out of what I'm burning per day. The math (cals in vs. cals out) seems less like an algorithim to me now! I'm sure it's not 100% accurate, but I know that it's more accurate than what I was coming up with on my own and I rely on it to be "directionally correct".

Ramona - thanks so much! I am thrilled to know that I can wear the "display" somewhere other than my wrist!!! I know it isn't going to be 100% accurate but at least I will have a ball park idea and hoping that it will challenge me to burn more calories.

I still wish there were some Actitrainer reports since this is smaller with a built in display and cheaper. The downside is that it sounds like it works more like a pedometer unless you are wearing the heart rate monitor strap.
