abs diet

I just bought the abs diet book and was wondering what anyone thought of it. I eat clean most of the time but am not losing weight so I was wondering if this book might help.

I don't have any personal experience with the diet, but my brother and sister-in-law have lost allot of weight with the principle outlined in the book. I believe they are pretty straight forward: Lean protein, whole grains, flax, veggies&fruits, eating often and well...move everyday...cardio+ weights.:)

I've been posting on here about this book for a couple of weeks now. I bought the "guide" and not the full-fledged book. I can't say that I RELIGIOUSLY follow EVERYthing in this book, but I have definitely modified the way I eat. I've said goodbye to high fructose corn syrup, I've switched from white flour products to whole wheat and grain products, I've started drinking protein drinks every other day (I don't use whey; I use Figure 8), and I've started eating almonds. These are just the major things I've done. I guess you could say that I'm weaning my way into the diet rather than just going 100% right off the bat.

So, it's been about 2 weeks since I started really making an effort to get into this diet (and I use that term loosely, because the Abs Diet really isn't a diet, per se; it's a common sense way of eating that really makes sense). In those two weeks, I've been very pleased with my results. I had reached a weight loss plateau that I just couldn't seem to break without starving myself half to death...and since I am totally opposed to starving oneself to lose weight, that was not gonna happen. I couldn't understand it! I was exercising 5-6 days a week, 45-60 minutes at a time (sometimes longer), and I thought I was eating right...but I always seemed to be hungry or having cravings...and the weight just wouldn't come off. This went on for about 6+ months. In the past two weeks, I've lost about 5 pounds, and all I've done is change the way I snack, and I've added some of those Abs Diet Power Foods (spinach, berries, oats, beans) to my regular meals. My abs really ARE getting flatter! I've noticed it! And I'm not restricting myself, and I'm eating "normal" foods (and I've even eaten a few "cheat" foods, to be honest - I can only imagine how much weight I would have lost had I not cheated). Today, I actually tightened my belt one more notch and didn't feel like I was going to pass out from loss of blood and oxygen. :D

So, I'm going to stick with this for a while and see how it goes. So far, it seems to be working just fine!

From what my brother reports about this book and diet, it is very well done, very senible, solid. He talked about the power foods and they are all foods we talk about here...salmon, berries, grains, fruit, flax, veggies, low-fat dairy, lean protein...:)

David Zinczenko wrote the book-he is the editor in cheif of Mens Health Mag. I have read most of the book and it seems easy to follow. I eat a lot of these foods already. I have hit a plateau with my weight also and have been counting calories and have not lost a pound and I am hungry all the time.

I've been shocked to find that since I started following the snacking advice in this book, I have not been uncontrollably hungry. I feel "full" and satisfied now. In fact, I used to be starving and ready to eat my desk for lunch by 10:30 most days. Now, it's 12:30, and I'm like, "Well, I'm not starving, but I could eat...maybe I'll go ahead and eat a bite." I mean, there's no urgency AT ALL to get my lunch anymore! The other day, it was almost 1:00 before I got hungry enough to actually stop what I was doing to make my lunch. That hasn't happened in YEARS! I mean, I'm somebody who used to have such severe hunger pangs that I actually experienced pain from them. For two weeks now, I haven't had any problems with this.

So, I don't know how to explain WHY this diet works, I just know that it does!
