"A check in would be great b/c I still have alot of questions! What size are your servings? I had 1/3 (uncooked oatmeal which is 1 cup cooked) and 1 apple. Snack- yogurt and cranberries.Lunch is gonna be eggs with a ww wrap. I am unsure about eating 2 egg yolks. Should I just eat the whites or one yolk and 2 whites? Do you stick to the serving size as it is on a package? Size of a deck of cards for meat and bread is the size of your hand? On a loaf of bread a serving is considered 2 slices. How much weight have you lost and how long have you been on the diet? I think it is something you could really stick to though."
Hi, Lorihart!
I am by no means an expert on the abs diet, but I have studied fitness and nutrition quite extensively through the years, and both are big "hobbies" of mine (they're actually just short of being "passions", but I'll just call them hobbies). With that said, I'll try to give you my 2 cents in answer to your questions above.
What size are your servings? If a recipe calls for a sandwich, I eat one sandwich. If I am still hungry after eating that one sandwich, I'll eat a snack or a side to go with it. Usually, though, that one sandwich is enough. Sometimes, we have to train our stomach that it needs less food. It's gotten used to eating so much that it now has to "shrink" back to its normal size and realize, "Ah-ha! THIS is how much I'm SUPPOSED to be eating." it took me about a week or so to train my stomach that it didn't need as much as I had been feeding it.
Serving size - size of a deck of cards: I've heard that a serving of meat, for instance, is the size of a deck of cards, or the size of the palm of your hand (doesn't include your fingers), or the size of your fist. I think any of these methods is good to give you an estimate of how much you should be eating. I think two pieces of bread is a good serving size (especially if you're eating a sandwich

). Regarding eggs: I think that yolks are okay according to the abs diet. The yolks contain all kinds of nutrients that are good for the body.
I think the best measure, though, is this: Ask yourself, "Am I hungry?" If you are, eat. If you aren't, don't. Remember that it takes a while for your brain to get the signal that it's full when you're eating, which is why so many people overeat. Make it a point to stop eating before you think you're really full, and then 20 minutes later you'll realize that you didn't need that extra half sandwich you were thinking about eating after all. You'll find that you're full and that eating that extra sandwich would have been too much food. Before long, you'll learn your own limits and will know how much to eat and be full.
How much weight have you lost and how long have you been on the diet? I've lost 2 pounds in two weeks. That doesn't sound impressive - I know......but, being that I had plateaued for 6+ months and couldn't lose ANY weight AT ALL, 2 pounds is a big deal for me. What's more, I cheated a little during my first couple of weeks on this diet (I'm trying to cut out so much cheating this week), so I'm impressed I lost the 2 pounds. Additionally, I'm going through my monthly bloat and usually gain about 3-5 pounds in one week...so to actually be 2 pounds below my normal mark is really good! I can't wait to see how much I drop after my bloat is over.
