about the fascia muscles

I was watching last night "Surgery before and after" health channel,,,, and the doctor who hosts the show said that to tight up the muscles of the abdomen called Fascia are difficult, specially if a woman had multiple pregnacies, like myself, 4 to be specific, that no matter what you do it won't tighten up,,, so they need to intervine with surgery,,, I know for sure that it doest apply to all women who had a few pregnancies, but for the most part some us no matter what the pouch that we complain about won't go away,,, any thoughts about this? In my own experience,,, thru runnning I went down very low on my weight, specially running season like summer, and I see that in a small way the pouch is there, I can see my obliques very define, but when it comes to the front part,,, it is hard to see my 6 pack,,,and I do work on my abs religiously and no matter how thin I am,,, the pouch hasnt go away,,, the boops went away, but the pouch is a reminder of my 4 kids and now I am thinking if what the surgeon says is true, not that I want surgery, heck no, but accept mother nature and the fact that is ok not to see my 6 pack but be happy that my spine is strong due to my abs work.

Norma,

The fascia is the connective tissue layer that surrounds your muscles. It also surrounds your bones and joints as well. I saw the episode of Pastic Surgery Before and After as well. You can tighten your abs after pregnancy, but if the fascia is too stretched out then surgery may be the only option for that tight 6-pack that we all strive for.

I just have to say that I commend you for being able to make time for yourself, let alone quality fitness time with 4 children. You should give yourself a pat on the back. I do however understand your frustration in a different area of my body. When I was pregnant with my first child, my breasts grew more than anything and afterwards ... well they never found their way back north. The excess skin is something that I have been dealing with for almost 12 years now. Even after losing weight, the excess skin is there to stay. I too have toyed with the idea of surgery for my own self esteem, but have decided (as it seems you have too) to try and accept what I have and learn to love my body. Trust me ... I am not there yet, but I try to stay positive.

Keep loving yourself :)

Jm,,, my breasts are gone due to burning so much fat thru runnning,,,if you see my pic of before my breast were huge like the Andes Mountains, it was horrible to walk with them,,, after the weight loss they dissapear, but the skin is now loose,,, I breastfed 4, proudly to say, thank god for good support bras, thou I dont like bras I need them, another remiender of being a mom, and I dont fuss about it. I dont want to be caught up in external beauty and being perfect, I do want to be healthy first emotionally and then phisically, Seeing the show made me a little bit dissapointed I took a big breath and said to myself, ok, deal with it, and do the ab work for your spine.
