Abdominal surgery

Hello everyone!

I've been working out for about 15 years. I use Cathes dvd's and I belong to a gym. In about for months I will have to undergo abdominal surgery (hysterectomy). I was told that the incision would be similar to that of a c-section. I don't mean to sound vain but I am concerned about whether or not I will be able to get my midsection in shape again. I heard that sometimes the abs just can't get flat again due to the trauma of surgery. I was wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this? Any info or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Joi:D

Well, I haven't had a hysterectomy so my incision is a little different, but I had stomach surgery back in 1986. 2/3 of my stomach and some lymphatic tissue was removed and the incision starts just under my breast bone, extending past the navel (does a little curve around the navel). I was doing crunches within a month of surgery and have noticed no difference in the condition of my abdominal muscles. I was 41 when I had the surgery.
