A Tribute to Exercise

Hi all,

Well, just another story about the benefits of exercise...

My grandpa, who is 81, has been having chest pains and had a cardiac catharization today. The doc found that 2 of the 3 main arteries to the heart were 95% blocked and performed angioplasty. The doc was so surprised that my grandpa was able to function and hadn't had a heart attack. "Pop" exercises every day and still lifts weights! He does like his ice cream, though. Just another reason to exercise!

Wow, I thought your story was about how you can exercise and still get the short end of the stick where health matters are concerned. I guess you can read your post opimistically or pessimistically!!:) Your grandpa surviving is definitly a result of his exercise, but he still managed to develop hardening of the arteries despite all the exercise. I guess at that age, it is sorta inevitable if it is in your genetic lineup. Darn those genetics!!:) I am very happy for your "pop" and wish him continued success at getting at those arteries! My grandma had a similar situation and she felt like a new woman afterwards on account of the fact that she could now breathe!!:)
