a Sparkpeople question

Hi,

Anyone who uses this regularly, is there a way to just enter your calories burned? I use a HRM and know my calories burned, I just want to track them as is, without trying to pick one of the activities that match what my HRM said... I currently use Fitday, and as far as I can tell, you can't do this on here either.. This feature, if they had it, would make it worth while to switch.

Thanks

Deb:)

Yes, there is a way to enter the calories burned. Just go to add cardio. A screen comes up where you can type in your activity. There is a link in red that says "Manually Enter Calories Burned".

Unfortuantely, if you have a strength w/o like S&H or a P90X srength w/o, you can't enter in calories burned for the strength section. I really wish they would change this feature for those of us who use an HRM and still count what we burn with strength workouts. My calorie burn is pretty high with some of those strength workouts! So, in order to be able to enter my calorie burn for some of those w/o I have to enter it under a cardio workout.

I also noticed that they won't let you enter strength workouts 2 consecutive days..eg I tried to enter one body part per day type workout and it kept giving me an error for doing strength workouts 2 days in a row!

I think I would just enter it all under cardio, put the actual workout eg "S&H Legs & Shoulders + I-Tread 40 min" in the description block then enter the total calories burned manually from my HRM. I agree, I burn a lot of calories with S&H and I NEED to record them LOL.! The reporting may be a little off ? I havn't looked at that part yet. I have used Fitday for years and years and all my custom food is in there. It will be a pain to switch. Sparkpeople has a lot more pre-entered foods, that you can;t get on Fitday,. Sometimes I go over to Spark just to get the breakdown of a food then I enter it as a custom food in Fitday.. I think I am obsessed!x(
