A few quick beauty/diet questions...for anyone, anyone?...

1. What does "sugar alcohol" mean on my protein bar nutrition label?

2. Best under eye concealer? With two small kids and nearing 40, my eyes look pretty tired in the morning. Anything out there to brighten my look?

3. I usually workout late at night (9pm) and I'm wondering if I should eat something before bed? Like most of us, I'm looking to lean out, but increase muscle mass.

About the concealer. I have always heard to wear a yellow based concealer, but the other day on a make-over show, the make-up artist said if you have dark circles choose a more pink undertone rather than yellow. Yellow undertone makes the circles look worse. I love sephora.com. I heard Benefit and Laura Mercier make good concealers.

Maybe you should eat something, but I wouldn't, unless you are really hungry. I am sure you will have more advice from more knowledgeable people.

The best under eye concealer I've found is Bobbi Brown's. I've always had dark circles under my eyes because my skin is pretty transluscent. Bobbi Brown is pretty expensive, but it's worth it.

RE: A few quick beauty/diet questions...for anyone, any...

Hi Letswork!

I agree with Donna's recommendation for Bobbi Brown make-up. Her foundation and concealer is great. Very natural finish that lasts a long time and does not feel thick or cakey. They're also handy with samples so I would try it a few times before spending the money. I've always found Bobbi Brown cosmetics at Saks.

I'm so glad I found someone else who works out as late as I do! I workout around 8PM and would also like to hear some suggestions for post workout meals. Because I workout around dinner time, I've been trying to squeeze in 3-4 balanced meals (whole/low glycemic carbs along with some lean protein) during the day. Since I get fairly close to bed-time by the time I finish my workout, I might eat a cup of low-fat cottage cheese and a piece of fruit. Sometimes I'll have half of a whole wheat pita bread with some hummus (some great choices at Trader Joe's for those) and a small salad or perhaps just a piece of fruit. All in all, I try to keep it light so I can give myself some quality fuel after the hard work, while also avoiding the over stuffed feeling so my body does not keep me awake as it's trying to digest the extra food!

Hope this helps :)
