---> 6 Month STS Alumni-week of March 6<---;)

Meso 2 Week 2 done! I got busy yesterday so I didn't post...

I picked up lots of books at triple A today, and some maps to help me get started on the trip. I think we are going to choose just parks this time and not worry about seeing cities, otherwise we'll be on the road forever...LOL!

Rachel, I love BM2! When I'm done with Sts I will have to do that one, at least the weight portion! It's funny, my parents didn't want to pay for braces for e either, it's not that it was terribly bad, but it was noticeable to me anyway. I'm glad your dentist helped you out! Dh said he wanted to make up for it if I was willing to go through it, so I actually got braces as an adult. I'm just finishing off my first year on retainers! It's nice to have a nice smile, especially if you smile a lot, which I do....;)
Lucky for our kids, their braces will be covered under the insurance as long as they take care of it before turning 18...

Kim, I can't handle over competitive people very well, so that is probably why I have never liked group sports that much...
I hear you on the lack of rsvp ing.... It drives me nuts! LOL! I hope this will be a stress free celebrating the new house with everyone!

Jo, my first thought was, will your knees be ok with the running? Other than that, you are so the person for this! You will have a blast!

Well the orthodontist recommends that we wait for one more year till 2 of ds's teeth come down further. My insurance through work will pay some of it but not all. I had 8 years of orthodontal work and so did both of my sisters. My poor parents.

We're having a full fledged blizzard here but we're not complaining with the natural disasters that have occurred today. So very sad! My uncle is in Japan on business but has been in contact that he is fine.
Looking out the window and it's almost a total whiteout, at least it didn't hit until evening and there was lots of warning so everyone could just stay home.
We're all cuddling on the couch and watching curling, my coworker's husband is playing in the national competition. I did do KickMax after dinner.

Rachael You are right about BM2 being a marathon! It's a crazy long workout! That's so nice of your dentist! I always use New Balance crosstrainers for weights/cardio and Asic gels runners for running (although I don't do much of it anymore) What did you find to do today?

Cendrien Congrats of half finishing STS! Planning the trip will be so much fun! I haven't done any planning for our camping trips I think that with it being a late winter, I'm just not thinking about summer holidays. That's neat that you did braces as a adult! How much longer for the retainer?

Hi Jo!

It's hard to imagine you are in a blizzard, it is so nice and spring like here! But I'm glad you are all home and warm and accounted for!
Wow, 8 years of orthodontics is a long time! They told me when I began it would be 18months, then it took about 2 years, because the orthodontist was perfectionist... Then the first retainer didn't work and my teeth started going back to where they were despite me wearing it religiously and going to the monthly check ups... So then we started with braces again all over, another year or so (lost count....) then they fitted me for the invisalign kind of braces, except they are used as my retainer. So at least, though I'm wearing it 24hrs a day, most people don't notice because it's like a clear glove. I have about 3 more months of 24hrs a day, then I can start wearing it just at night. Yay! It was such a pain!

I'm sure you'll get into planning for your camping when the weather gets warmer, I think this is why I'm getting into it now, because summer doesn't seem that far away. (I just have nine more weeks of school with the kids!)

Rachel, I forgot to tell you, I usually wear a running shoe for workouts. I had a crosstrainer shoe a while ago, but haven't gotten back to them. As long as I'm not getting blisters, any shoe works for me.... LOL!

We are going on a hike tomorrow. It's one of those guided ones in one of the nature reserves around here that you can't access on your own. It was supposed to be an easy level hike, but they just sent an email of possibly changing it to a 600ft elevation hike... Not sure dd will be ok with that.... But I packed us sandwiches and all and figured we'll do something nice outside, even if the hike does not pan out. Anyway, probably won't be checking in tomorrow.

I second that, Cendrine. It is really hard to imagine blizzards when it is 74f here. I hope the weather is better today, Kim.

Not too much going on here today. DH went to do some dirt work at his dad's with the tractor so I went to town and did a little shopping.;) Very little. lol. I did get a couple of really nice workout pants but it is almost time for workout shorts. I hate that. I tried to find some workout shorts that I liked but ended up with pants. How does that happen?
I fell in lust with a table I saw at TJ Maxx. It was really cool. It was supposed to be an industrial style table. It was black metal with some old rustic looking wood for the shelve parts. Then when I got to looking at it I noticed it was kind of flimsy and made in China so for 200- I passed. I thought I might be able to find a real industrial table at a flea market. haha

I think it is going to be movie night tonight. Still too windy to do much yard work. Since I really have a lot of branches that need burned.

Kim-Thank goodness someone in your family has been able to contact your uncle. That is a terrible tragedy. I was watching the news this morning when they were showing coverage of the nuclear reactor. Scary stuff for sure.

Cendrine- I hope you got to do the hike. I am sure it was great weather for it.
I did not realize they used invisilign for retainers too. That is really a great idea. Did it feel weird when you first started wearing them? I always wondered about those.

Jo-I hope you are acing a test or whipping up a really smart paper of some sort...Or getting a great spin in.;)

Better be off.
Have a great day!

Wow, this was an interesting day! I started off with my abs and back exercises and then we got packed up to go. Dh accidentally took the wrong turn on the toll road, the next exit was about 10min down the road! So we had to go all the way to the next off ramp, turn around, go back up, take the right turn this time and then we were trying to look for the name that the hiking organizer had told us to turn on. Well, we drove way past where it should have been, got out maps, google mapped it on the phone, drove past the area where the map said it should be two more times and just could not find it. So we decided to turn back, since it was now way past the time of the start of the hike and we figured even if we found it, the group would be long gone. We were going to check out the lake we saw on the way to see what the camping and fishing is like there. We happened to see someone at a different turn, it looked sort of public and we thought, lets go see if they know where it is. Turns out this was the one day this month that this Canyon was open for public access. We parked, got registered, got a map and started out on our own hike... We were glad that we had stopped, or we would have missed out on a beautiful walk. The kids were great troopers, because for about a mile and a half it was rather steep, but the view was wonderful and everything was still green from the rain. We had our picnic after the end of the uphill part, it was so nice and relaxing, the kids just loved it. Then we walked back to the car and realized we had just taken the kids on a 6 mile hike (after checking the route on the map) This was their first hike! They were amazing! We're putting them down early, luckily this hike will help them go to sleep early and make the time change transition more smooth... ;) I unfortunately got myself a nice sunburn (I didn't sunscreen my neck area because at the time it was overcast... I know I should always put it on anyway! But at least I had a long sleeve on, so only the tops of my hands are burned, other than my neck. My face lotion has sunscreen on it so I'm good there....
I put two pics of the kids on the hike in a new album, if you want to go see. ;)

What an adventure you had Cendrine!! It sounds like so much fun! I would love that kind of outing, hiking/picnic in the sun with my family. What a great way to spend the day! For some reasons I can't get to your photo albums, so I tried to get to mine and I couldn't get to those either so will try again later.

Cendrien The 8 years of orthodontics included 3 years of the headgear, I don't think they use that anymore it was realign the jaw I think, it was removable so I didn't wear it to school just in the evenings/sleep. I remember having to keep a log of for the orthodontist showing how much I was wearing it. It was very ugly and uncomfortable to sleep in. Then 2 years of full braces then 3 years of wearing the retainer.

Rachael Did you watch a movie last night? Anything interesting?

Yesterday I got LIC done and today calls for a 45 minute cycle. I don't have an indoor cycle and we have huge snowdrifts on the roads:rolleyes: so that isn't happening.Probably will do the tm for 45 minutes but I have all day so I'm not in a hurry. Enjoying my relaxing Sunday morning. DD is still sleeping (she had a busy day yesterday) and DH took ds to his hockey game.

Today they start the city championship series!! It's a best of 5 series, today is game one. I decided to skip this game as I didn't want to wake up dd so early and it was far away so will have to try and get to game 2 tomorrow.
