6 Month STS Alumni - week of December 13

YEAH!!! Of course they will probably arrive when I'm gone so I can't take Travel Fit with me! I'll hope for the best! (Cendrine, another reason I need to be home on Monday LOL!)

Do you think it's too late for me to change my shipping address to my inlaws place? Just kidding.... It's coming sooner than I expected! I think all of us ordered pretty early, so we should be among the first to get it!
I love previewing new workouts! This will be so much fun!

Rachel, my kitchen aid broke last week and dh, being the tinkerer that he is, has figured out how to fix it for 14.- tonight! So I'll be making those gingerbread cookies tomorrow. (I am so spoiled, I could have made that dough 10 times while waiting if I hadn't shied away from manual labor...) What kinds of cookies are you planning on making? I think the clean eating magazine had a recipe in the thanksgiving issue for a healthy cardamom spice cookie. Are you going to try that? One of these days I'll give it a try, but not sure when.

Hello All!

I did the first 4 combos of Low Max. I woke up with a tweak in my back (I must have done something during PUB yesterday or maybe slept funny). It definitely feels like a muscle pain and not something else, but it was bothering me enough I didn't want to overdo.

Anyway, off to work. I get to go to a benefits meeting where they'll probably tell us they're raising our health insurance premiums! Ugghhh!

Cendrine, that's great DH fixed your kitchen aid! My DH is a handy man too and seems to be able to fix anything! (I love that!)

Talk to you all later!

Jo, not your back, too! Good job for taking it easier, I will be a lot more watchful if I tweak mine again in the future, which I hope I won't!

I'm running a bit behind in my day, so I am not sure if the cookie baking will happen, we'll see.

Just a quick post for me...I have been so busy today trying to get those cookie boxes done on my one day off! I did it though but now I need to get dinner ready!
Cendrine...I decided to do my famous chocolate chips, shortbread melt a ways, and snickerdoodles. I did good and did not snack on them at all!

Jo-I will keep my fingers crossed that the shipment gets to your house before you leave!

Kim-Thanks for posting the shock cardio update or I would have had no idea!

Ok guys I have to go I will post longer tomorrow!

Rachel

Hi Everyone!
Whew...well I FINALLY finished my Xmas letter! Just finished. DH will print for me tomorrow on special paper and then I will get the cards addressed and OUT by Saturday!

I don't even know what workout I'm supposed to do tomorrow! Whatever was wrong with my back was gone by about 2:00 so I guess it was just something funny! (I'm glad of that!)

I'll check back with you girls tomorrow! Looks like we're all busy today!

Cendrine...I forgot to comment on DH and the kitchen aid! For one, I am spoiled to my kitchen aid too. If I had to whip that butter yesterday for 20 minutes with a hand mixer no one would be getting those shortbread cookies! I am most amazed with your DH for being able to fix it though. He sounds super handy!

Jo-Way to go on finishing your Christmas letter. Now for all that addressing! Yuck. Oh well it will all be done by Saturday, right?!;)

I had my rotation wrong and was looking at next week when I said rythmic step was yesterday, it was PUB...I caught it yesterday morning when I looked at my calendar for the next day so I had a nice surprise workout yesterday. I was prepared for RS and it changed abruptly but I think catching my body off guard like that did it some good, somehow. Today was PLB and I am still sore from butts and guts on Tuesday:eek: As I got into it, it felt like the soreness was letting up a little so maybe this is what she had in mind when she made this rotation or she might have just been thinking about "consequences";)

I am getting really excited about our new rotation...Are we going for 3 and a half months this time?

Have a great day!

Rachel

Busy with Christmas stuff here. Yesterday was ds's Christmas band concert which he needed cupcakes for the bake sale. Tonight is a dinner party with my coworkers. Tomorrow the kids' have Christmas parties at school and dd needs cupcakes and ds needs a lasagna(?? ) for their parties and of course presents for the teachers. Just so many little odds and ends to think about.

I have today off work so want to get the groceries done and then some work in the kitchen, the stuff the kids need for tomorrow and some prep work for christmas dinner.

The weather warmed up here tremendously, it's -12C right now which is balmy comparmed to -48. The kids will be able play outside at recess but we still have no snow for them to play in!

Jo The gloves do look very nice. I had to giggle at the review where the lady said she was warm to 13F! I'm more concerned if they would be warm at minus forty, at 13 F I wouldn't even be in mittens if I was exercising like running or skiing, it would too hot. Most winter clothing have a cold rating on them, like tested till -30C etc, I didn't see anything like that on them.
I'm glad your back didn't turn out to be anything, we need everyone fit and ready for STS! Sorry about that lost post, it seems to happen to you every once and awhile! Was there bad news about the health benefits?

Rachael Good for you on getting all those cookies done! And with no snacking! I'm very impressed with that! So are you back to work today, do you have a new job starting? Did you get the microwave cleaned out?

Cendrine Did you get those cookies done? Aw, the church play sounds very cute, is it this Sunday? Maybe you can take a picture. That will be fun meeting with Jo, isn't it so neat, that we can have international friends now with the internet. The world is getting so small!

Rachael, I'm up for the 3.5 month rotation of STS! Are you thinking of redoing the 1RM? I would think because of international shipping at Christmas I won't get my dvds until after Christmas. When are you thinking of starting?
Kim

Kim, you sure have a lot to get accomplished on your day off! Wow, I hope you got it all done! -12C°, I say, still brrrrr.... LOL! But then I haven't seen anything below frozen in years. I discovered that if I wear a scarf I don't have to wear jackets inside to stay warm. You must be rolling your eyes at me LOL!
The play will be on Sunday, dress rehearsal Saturday Morning. I'll definitely take pictures, this is the best Christmas program the kids have been in so far, so it's nice to really take good pics.
I managed to work up two batches of gingerbread dough before heading out to ds's tiger cub christmas party. The party was fun, dd was in heaven that she got to go along and the snowmen pretzel rods were a hit, took back only two for the kids.

Rachel, Shortbread cookies are one of my all time faves, right along with the chocolate chip ones! I discovered shortbread cookies when I was in England as an au-pair eons ago and have loved them ever since! Mind sharing your recipe with me?
Your workouts sound good, maybe after STS I am going to look at that rotation. I think we were all thinking of a 3.5 month rotation this round, right?
Weren't we initially looking at mid January to start? Or are we going to start sooner now, that we all get it earlier?
Therapy yesterday did me a lot of good. I'm hopeful to start exercise up again, although slowly, after Christmas. I don't feel like doing the RMs over but I'm sure I can't go as heavy, at least initially since I will still be recovering strenght from this back issue.

Jo, I'm so glad your back is already fine. Aren't you relieved the letter is done and the stuff ready to mail? Will you be doing any baking, I forget if you mentioned.

Hi Everyone!
I took a rest day today...just to be sure...and then when I looked at my planned workouts, I had scheduled today for rest anyway! (I'm reading my own vibes! LOL!)

Kim, I'll go peek at your pictures when I'm done here. Yes, you are a busy girl! I haven't baked anything! But I'm supposed to make cookies tonight for the cookie exchange tomorrow. We're having our Xmas lunch and cookie exchange tomorrow so it will be a short day at work.

Cendrine, tiger cubs sound cute! Is that like cub scouts? What is that? Sounds cute whatever it is! :D So are you finding you have tons of extra time since you haven't been able to workout? I always find, even on my rest day, I suddenly have time on my hands and want to make the most of it!

Rachel, my butt was sore from B&G and I'm sore form PUB (especially my triceps!). I'm up for the 3 1/2 rotation...actually I'm up for whatever everyone decides! It might be fun to do the shorter though.

Okay, back to work and peek at Kim's pictures. Hope you're all having a good day!

Crap Sorry I lost my post and it was a long one! Jo your computer must be talking to mine!

Cendrine-I had the recipe wrote out and everything. Now I am tired:rolleyes:I will give it to you though I promise...The reason why I never did give you the pumpkin trifle was because I did not think it was all that good and I try not to pass on bad experiences...but these cookies are great and easy and worked out perfectly. So I will post it for you!

Kim-Do I go to the same album thing to catch you photos?
We are kind of in between jobs right now and were asked to help out another contractor that is behind a little. We go back to our school job next week to finish it up and then I have no idea after that but I am sure there will be something!

Jo-I am glad your tweak went away. This morning I kept feeling a weird pull in my hip when I was doing PLB but it went away too. I think it might have been from compensating with poor form from being sore:eek:. When I realized that might have been the cause I corrected and fought through the Cathe pain though!

OK like Jo always says...my other post was way wittier and alot more fun but yall got this one instead!:p:D;)

I hope yall are staying warm!
See you tomorrow!

Rachel

Sorry about your post, Rachel, such a drag! Thanks for the editorial on the trifle recipe, I appreciate not having to find out for myself...LOL!
No rush on the shortbread cookie recipe. Dh got one of those Harry and David gift towers in the mail today from a work partner, it had shortbread cookies in it! I had some, but am going to stay away from them now. I also had a great afternoon baking with the kids, they both have made so much motor control progress from last year, they were both able to roll out the dough (I have these nifty bands to put on both ends of the rolling pin so the dough gets rolled out evenly) they even floured the surface each time before rolling, then cut out the cookies and arranged them in perfect distance from each other on the cookie sheet. I could have just left and let them finish on their own. I was quite impressed. They loved it and are looking forward to decorating them tomorrow.

Jo, I'm glad your rest day was scheduled, I like it when it works out that way. Tiger cubs is a precursor to boy scouts, for boys between 6 and 7 years old. THey have twice monthly den meetings where they do crafts and other fun activities related to cub scout values and pack meetings once a month with all other groups in the area for more fun. They also have make your boat, car, and space ship activities with races to finish and then fieldtrips like the library, the firestation, hikes and stuff like that. Ds loves it tremendously. What cookies are you going to make?

Okay, DH brought home the Xmas letter and it is beautiful! It's a short little note - kind of generic to appeal to family and friends and then I have 9 pictures in it from this year. I'm going to see if I can post one of DH and I which I like.

Stay tuned....

Kim, your pictures look great! (and warm! LOL!) The kids look very happy!

Okay, I posted two pictures on my profile (like what Kim did). One is DH and I at dinner and then the other one is in MT - we were on a evening walk. I'll post some more tomorrow now that I figured out how to make my pictures smaller. Anyway both of those pictures are in my Xmas letter. I'll post the rest so you guys can see.

Off to bed...tomorrow is MM for me! I'm looking foward to it! Then a short day as we're having our Xmas lunch. I'll check in with you all later!

G'night!

Last post....STS Cardio is shipping - they have DVD's in and are getting them ready to ship tomorrow! Just saw it on the blog! Oh, I hope I get mine before Thursday! I hope I hope I hope.... I doubt it though. It usually takes at least a week to get here.

OK I would love to say I got up and did my scheduled workout but I can't...It was supposed to be LOW MAX, which I love, so I am moving it to tomorrow. I just am a little under the weather , I think, and because this weeks work outs are so intense, I am just a bit worn out. I think if I had a little easier week of work outs I would not be so tired but with my little cold here, I guess it caught up to me! I am OK with an extra rest day though because when we start our rotation there will be none in sight:eek:

I am also thinking about taking the last week of the year off if we get to start as scheduled. That way I will be good and fresh for the new year. Just think how rockin' our bodies will be by spring!:D

Jo-So glad your letter turned out great. Tonight when I have a little more time I will have to check out the pics from you and Kim. I just love seeing new pictures of you all! I need to get a new avatar pic. One where you can actually see my face but that will have to wait until I am off of this work schedule that we are on.

Cendrine-I am very impressed that you kids are rolling out the dough! I really suck at rolling dough out and I have thrown many a fit for that very reason! SO I am a little jealous of their skills!.
I love Harry and Davids cookies and that tower would not be safe in my house and would have to regift it quickly!:p But at least you have the kids and dh to eat them up for you!

OK I am off to work...My whole body is sore and I think it is from all of the workouts this week. Where my legs were not sore from butts and guts they are now sore from PLB. Where my upper did not get it from PUB it got it from lifting the bar over my head for PLB...:D So I think this is compunding my sick feeling if you know what I mean!

See you guys later! Have a great Friday!

Kim-I hope you are warming up...I could not help laughing when you said you would not even wear mittens in the frigid temps...Amazing!

Rachel

Good Morning! I'm running behind - have to get going.

Rachel, hope you feel better! It wouldn't hurt to take the last week off and then you'll be really rested for the new rotation! I won't be working out much either (probably walking) since we'll be gone. Unless...I get that Travel Fit DVD before Thursday! :D

Oh and Rachel, to view pictures, just click on someone's name - so click on Kim in any of her posts and then you'll get a dropdown, and then select View Public Profile. You'll see the pictures.

Talk to you later!
