(<:--->6 month STS alumni<---:>) Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!!!!!

I am so sorry I was no around yesterday.Things got busy early and stayed that way all day. I think I did not literally sit down until around 9pm!
The good news is...WE HAVE POWER!!! That is another reason why I could not post early yesterday...we had to have the power off in the front of the house for hooking up everything else. Now it's all hooked up and we even have our outside light installed and usable.
I really know we are on the downhill side of things now. Which is a good place to be right here when work is about to get crazy.

Tomorrow starts the final push. The last week of this sts rotation for me and I think I am ready. Then it is going to be a much needed rest week for me.

Nothing too major today for Easter. We are going to dinner at MIL's today but other than that it is going to be working around here and trying to beat the heat. We are at probably 85% humidity and it is going to be 85 today so it is going to be hard to not turn on the air conditioning.

Jo-How did the party for DH go? I am sure if you threw it, it was a fun time! I can imagine that you are a great party thrower and very organized when it comes to planning. I am totally the opposite. I completely stress out over parties.

Cendrine-Hang in there. you have come along way and I am so happy that you are able to start working out at all! Any big plans for Eater?

Kim-I am impressed with that 20# tricep extension. That is where I am pretty weak and on the one arm tri ext. I can barely get 15 for 6. That is a tough one for me. So f I tried 20's I would probably knock myself out! haha

OK I have settled on the March rotation after sts. It looks like a good change up from the sts rotation and I would like to see what the two body parts per week does. I think that is week three!
Looking forward to that!

Got to get to work

Rachel

Rachel! WOW - that looks awesome! I love it!!! Very inviting! You guys are doing a wonderful job! Hope your day goes good at MIL and Woohoo and being so close to finishing STS! You are a busy busy girl! :p I'm debating if I just want to do a couple of week of STS and do the March rotation with you...or if I want to continue and then modify the cardio based on what I'm doing at the gym.

Okay so here what went on yesterday: took visiting GF to Pilates class at the gym and then she got her DH (our roommate) to go ahead and join last night (I took him last week). Anyway, so they got a single membership and Gold's agree to let her have free passes whenever she is here. Anyway, she LOVED the gym and again she's pretty new to exercising plus had back surgery in October so is still limited on what she can do. So I should have done Chest & Back today but swapped that with tomorrow's workout as we all went to the gym this morning (not my DH because of shoulder). We were there for 3 hours! (Which I loved!) Anyway, I did Volume 5 of Cardio Coach on the TM and then 30 stories on the stair machine (I'm dying!) Then GF and I went in and took a sauna and then did the steam room! I felt like I was on vacation!

Party last night was nice and low key. We grilled halibut and then I made the vegetables with the garam marsala and put in: sweet potatoe, turnip, onion, carrots, celery, zucchini and walnuts. (Very healthy meal!) Everyone loved it and they ate ALL the vegetables again. Also had made pesto for the fish. It was nice...DH liked it (he doesn't like a lot of fuss over him so there was only 4 couples.) Actually Rachel, I am not that organized...organized enough to get by but I rarely stress as I figure it is was it is! LOL! For me....as long as the house is clean everything else falls into place. But don't you LOVE it when you cook something that people can't get enough of!!! Boy nothing makes a girl happy like that...oh okay except our favorite workouts with our favorite instructor! LOL!

Anyway, not sure what we're doing with the rest of the day. But am waiting for everyone to finish with showers. TTYL!

Also, I'll go back and check our last thread to see if I missed anything! Again, Happy Easter everyone!

Yes Jo, I completely can relate that I love it when people tear into my food like it is the best thing they ever ate. But it is a big bonus when it is healthy and that happens because who can't make butter taste good! It takes smarts to make healthy good for the common butter eater! lol!
It sounds like you have been busy.Everyone else must be having a great Easter with their families!
I am stuffed. Even though I did not eat too much or too bad for that matter but MIL did make a banana pudding that was called... "Who Cares about the Calories banana pudding"! What is that I ask you...lol! I hope all had a wonderful holiday!

Rachael, I love your front door/porch!! It's beautiful! I would love a house with a look like that. I think I'll do the March rotation with you! I took today as rest day and will start the last week of STS tomorrow!

Jo Sounds like you had a healthy/fun Easter weekend with friends! I'm sure you will work out a plan to mix your videos with time at the gym.

We had a really nice Easter sunday. We usually have big family dinners on both sides but for different reasons (my sister and her family are on vacation, MIL had the flu, etc.) We went out for Easter brunch just the 5 of us ( my mom came along). It was nice and quiet with no cooking for a change! Then we drove out to a provincial park and did a 6.8 km hike.:D My mom is a huge fitness buff. We did do the easter egg hunt before we went out for brunch. It was just a really nice day, it was actually nice with out the big family craziness that we usually have.

I still have a painful large bump on the back of my head. I can not sleep on my back. I'm starting to wonder if I should go get it checked out.

Rachel, the picture of your mudroom is beautiful! Nice work! I can't wait to see different angles!

Jo, you are really getting your money's worth at the gym! How fun! And I am so glad everyone liked your veggies! Makes me want to make a batch this week, but I already did the groceries for the week, so maybe next week!

Kim, I am so sorry you bumped your head with the dumbell! That's no fun! I remember having done that once or twice, once my finger got in the way somehow and it hurt for a few days!

We had a pretty quiet easter here, not much, just relax and rest. My back has been flaring up the last couple of days so I am trying to do lots of exercises for that, stretch and soak in epsom salt to keep down any inflammation. The day I'll be over all this can't come too soon, I tell you. But On a happier note, I figured out this weekend how to get rid of the rings in the toilets.... I never could figure out how to get rid of them, you know the hard water stain that forms right at the waterlevel.... Well, I finally had the presence of mind to google it and people said to use pumice stone, and voila, the rings are gone! Also, I had been wanting to touch up our walls with paint where there were marks and such, but turns out dh had got rid of the paint and we don't know what the right match would be, and don't want to paint from scratch. I told a friend of mine about it and she told me to use Magic eraser from mr clean, and wow, is all I can say, I got a lot more stuff off the walls than I thought I would, and we just did the worst areas. So I feel like we accomplished some stuff this weekend even though we rested a lot.
then I got ds' work sheets ready for the school week and realized that we only have four more weeks of math left for the school year! Kind of feels like we are on the home stretch! Fun!

Hello! Last post for the night!

Kim, I think you should go have the bump checked! It may just be giving you problems because of the location, but I don't think you should wait too long! You don't need any issues like that!! Sounds like you had a really nice day and glad you got to hike! How fun!

Cendrine, oh boy I hate reading your back is bothering you again! You don't need that! Your back, Kim's head, and my sinuses! Scheesch! Rachel, you doing okay? LOL! I am SO GLAD to know about the pumice stone! I have that problem in one of my toilets and have scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed! I'll try that!

Rachel, I love the name of the pudding! That's a hoot! Glad you had a good day too! Okay, I spent some more time looking at the March rotation and my gosh that looks fun!!! I'd probably just subsitute some of the cardio for spinning or other cardio at the gym but my gosh that looks like a great rotation!!! So you're on your last week of STS and then recovery right? So you'd start that on April 19? Is that right?

I'm off to read! TTY tomorrow! (Can you believe it's April???)

Good morning yall!!!

Woohoo! Last chest and back workout of STS is DONE! I am well on my way to being finished! I feel awesome and I am pushing to the end!haha!!!

Not too much this morning going on. We are back to work this week and I am certainly going to miss being home with all the windows open and enjoying the fresh air and the slow pace. I have a feeling that this week will not be too pressed but as the weeks go on it is going to get hectic. The church has already scheduled some major event and they are going to want to be done before that. That makes it hard because you really have to have everything go smooth and that NEVER happens. But I am going in with a positive out look knowing that we will be working solid for the next 3 months at least!

Cendrine-I am sorry about the flare ups but as so happy about the toilet ring!!!lol I am just like that about stuff. When I finally googled how to properly clean my copper sink and found out that all you need is lemon and coarse salt I was extatic! And I love the magic eraser. We use it alot at work if something gets on our floors,

Jo-I think April 19th is the date. I really am looking forward to the March rotation. Like you , I think it looks like a lot of fun! Are you thinking about jumping right to it after sts with no break or taking a little break?

Kim-It sounds like you got to relax for Easter which is good because you spring break is over now right?
Maybe you can use some of Cendrine's tips on your house projects...instead of repainting...Magic Erase it! lol

I better get to it while the gettins' good!

Have a great Day!

Rachel

Happy Day After Easter!

I got up and did Disc 28 Chest and Back today. I'm home working for the moment as I'm waiting for a repairman to come look at my dryer. He should be here shortly and then off to work!

Rachel, I think EVERYTHING is going to go smooth for you on this job and you'll come out smelling like a rose! LOL! Glad you got to enjoy your time last week and too bad you have to get back to the grind! Why can't we get paid to stay home?!?!? :p Yes, I am considering jumping in to March rotation without a break but I guess I'll see where I'm at. I really enjoyed the workout today so I'll probably go the distance on STS! (I dunno we'll see how the next two weeks go!) I'd sure like to be back on pace with you and Kim on the rotation...that's what I do know!

Hello Kim and Cendrine!

Hi Girls,

everyone is hitting the ground running from the Easter Weekend, it looks like! I did an interesting experiment concerning my back last night. First I soaked for a while in hot epsom bath, then I applied a cooling type of cream for inflamed tissue right afterwards. Because all my pores were open from the bath, it really hit full force, almost stung a bit.... But I was able to sleep through the night without my back waking me up! So that was great! I might try it again. Anyway, I did Bootcamp with modified cardio and modified back work and I did well. Makes me feel more motivated!

I'm home all alone today, government employees get Easter Monday off but kids are back in school today and DH works privately so he's also gone. It feels very quiet and lonely here today without everyone. Tomorrow I'm back to work.:( Just finished disc 34!

Cendrine You're been very creative! New solutions to back care and housework!! I'm just glad that you're finding solutions to help with your back pain! I've been curious about the Magic erasers but haven't tried them. I found the Lysol disinfecting wipes did a good job of cleaning up the walls.

Rachael I hope the first day on the job goes well! It is hard getting back into a routine!

Jo Did you get the dryer fixed? Isn't there always something that needs fixing, ds just told me at lunch that his retainer for his teeth doesn't fit anymore so I guess I'll see if we can take him in to the dentist this week.

The online reservation system for the provincial campgounds open today so I booked 5 weekends all at different campgrounds. We would love to get to use our new camper lots this summer. The long weekends we go to my mom's cottage so that will make a busy summer.

Oh my goodness what a day Guys!

It has been way different than I thought it would be! We got done at work really early because we are actually ahead of schedule for once, and for now:rolleyes:!
But that is not all...I had some issues with my 1099 this year and had a lot of confusion between the company we work for and the accountant. Those were resolved today rather favorably, I might add. Then the manager of the company we work for told us that they had a ton of some hand scraped wood flooring left over from a job that some one went belly up on and he would make us a great deal. I thought that I had seen it and did not like it but when we went to look at it, it was something totally different. It is a really dark oak and it looks really rustic, which I love! We have wood in the living room but I never liked it and the rest of the house is kind of laid off that so I asked dh what he thought about getting enough for our bedroom the dining area and the living room and mudroom. He was not keen on the idea of tearing out the living area but after he saw the wood he warmed up a bit. Then we were negotiating a price on labor on some of the carpet that we are installing and the difference was about the price of the wood at the deal price. So we bartered and are basically getting the wood for free and then some! I know this is long but I am so excited to share our good fortune with yall! It will be a good while before we replace all the flooring but we will have it when the time comes ! Yea!!!!

I know I rambled and it was all about me and I am sorry but you guys are so good to listen!

I am off to shower and get ready for tomorrow! Athletic Step! I can't remember that one... Oh well I think I will rock it anyway!

Oh Rachel!!! I'm so excited for you! I guess you didn't know you were entering into a remodel when you started with the mudroom! ;) See, ya start small...then it grows to the living room, dining room, etc! HOW FUN! ;) And don't you feel great about the bartering/bargaining? Congratulations and you should be excited!!! But beware...it'll grow from there! LOL! :p

Oh Kim, sigh on the dryer. I'm having a problem with it drying. It's Fisher Paykel (sp?) and it has a lint bucket instead of lint filter. Anyway, long story short, the lint is not coming out like it's supposed to which causes it to take forever to get the clothes dry. I've already had a part replaced and they're not sure what to do but I bet I'll end up with another dryer. I had a Kenmore that was stellar for 22 years and 18 months ago bought new washer/dryer. They AIN'T what they used to be! Hope you enjoyed some of your time alone today! And good for you on booking ahead on those camp grounds!

Cendrine, glad you got a little relief on your back - hope it continues to work for you but I sure hope it gets better and goes AWAY! Two thumbs up on Bootcamp! You know I was thinking, if you can step, you might want to take a look at some of the premixes on SB/SJP. There are some fun circuits and there might be some fun mixes you could do and modify as necessary. Also, there might be one with the hi/lo you could modify if step bothers you. Anyway, it might give you some more variety. Also, you know you can use the workout blender on those DVD's too so maybe you could make your own routine. Anyway, just a thought.

Since roommate joined the gym, I went down there with him tonight. I'm being careful not to overdo (since I did Disc 28 this morning), so while he did the rowing machine I just went and did 20 minutes light walking on TM, then 20 minutes light biking on recumbant. I have plyo legs tomorrow so don't want my legs tired! Then we came home and GF made us chicken fajita salads. She was out with other GF's today. She's leaving on Wednesday.

Well enough talk! Hope you have a great day tomorrow!

Now that I have this gym membership I wish I had STS for my iPod! I got the notice that our STS Cardio downloads will be available next week but I doubt I would do those at the gym. But I do wish I had the weight workouts!!! Well, can't spend any more money right now...oh yea...birthday in July...(just thinking ahead!) For working out at the gym I'd want to have STS, Gym Styles and S&H. Hmmmm I should go figure out how much that would cost.

Good morning yall!

This morning it was Athletic Step for me...I forgot how fun and energizing that one was. I have to admit that when I started out this morning, I did not have any energy but the farther I got into the program the better I was feeling. I wonder if Cathe planned it that way? hmmm...one to ponder!

Today should be another shorter day for us. We mainly just have to deliver material and maybe prep a little more. They would really like to wait but they can't because they know the church wants the building. It is nice to not be behind , Yet! haha It is nice when dh and I do not have to hire any one. Then you do not have to worry about keeping someone busy or them getting enough hrs. It is more work for the two of us but it is worth it.

Jo- I like how you are thinking ahead for your b-day;) I mean planning ahead is a good thing! lol That would be fun to be able to take Cathe to the gym with you and get to try some of her stuff on their machines.
I have never heard of a dryer with a lint bucket. Did they say what the advantage of that was? So interesting!

Kim-I love that you have booked camping trips in advance. That way you do not find any excuse not to go. I am really bad about putting off plans and then something comes up. The only time we do go is when we plan a head. So I know the importance of that.

Cendrine-I love the home remedies. I hope they are working. Bootcamp, even modified, is a tough workout so I am so happy that you are doing these. It sounds like youa re really on your way to recovery.

I better be off . Got to use my hard earned muscles today!

Have a great Day!

Rachel

Tip-Top Tuesday!!!! :D

Today was Disc 29 Plyo Legs! Rachel, like you, I started off feeling not very energetic and then I started kicking in after about 15 minutes. Felt good!

The lint bucket is more efficient in collecting the lint and you only have to dump it every 10 loads or so and then lint comes out all together so it's not flying all over the place like with a filter. And, it's on the inside and spins with the drum instead of being in the door or pulling up from the outside. It's actually pretty cool.

I have a busy day today so just wanted to touch base before I head out! Rachel, good for you guys being ahead of schedule! Doesn't that feel good? Okay, off to the shower...buh bye! :p

Hi Everyone!

Rachel, you sure have started something! I would love to have that kind of floor but the mess and effort involved has scared me off so far! LOL!
It's nice that you and dh are able to handle this job by yourselves, you know what you can count on and that is something I like!

Jo, I do have the circuits from SB on my list of things to do, thanks for the reminder! I never thought of modifying the hilo, thus have avoided anything hilo, but you know, coming to think of it, I probably could work with it somehow. But step is still my preferred cardio, I did low max today, ouch on the legs! I am going to try high step challenge with modifications tomorrow, there are a few leg burners in there, if I remember correctly!

Kim, I am really impressed with you planning ahead for the camping! I guess maybe if we had a camper I would too, but as things are, getting away just seems more work than it's worth for me who am a self-described homebody....LOL!
