6 month alumni weekly checkin 10/11

Just finished CLX Lean Circuit 3 (only 8 more workouts left!) DS is feeling almost back to normal. He was supposed to check in with us at lunch, as he walks home from school for lunch. BUt forgot and decided to go to Subway with his friends . I called DH because he works close to the school and made him go check on him. Tonight he is out rollerblading with his friends (yes, we do still have a little snow on the ground)

So Imaxes for both Jo and Cendrine today. IMAX 2 is my most favourite workout of all time even that blasted interval 9. Don't you feel great when it's done! It has the dread factor about as much as the those leg presses in PLB that Rachael did today! Rachael, I have PLB on VHS so never done the premix. I've had PUB/PLB for years and have done them many, many times over the years.

Off to watch TBL and help dd with her piano.

Okay, I have add my two cents: I DREAD interval #9 but I also DREAD #5! And while we're at it: I suck at interval #4 in Imax 3! I have to improvise...I cannot do those forward bounding jumps like Cathe!

Kim, what did you think of TBL? Boy, can you believe Tracy won the team choice? I could not believe it! I'm glad ds is doing better!

Okay, I'm off to read. Tomorrow is Disc 17 legs - YIPPEE!

Jo-You make me laugh! Oh we dread them and yet still do them over and over. What is it called when you love pain! Sadist ? LOL

OK it was a 60 min. cardio scheduled today for my rotation so I thought I would be brave and do the 63 min double cardio blast from Drill Max. When we are talking about dreading something how about doing drill #5 twice? Well I did not make it. I was wiped out by then. I did get through it once which I will take! I needed to do abs too and so I thought I would do weights and plates...well that turned into weights...sort of! Oh well so I am not a machine! I still felt very worked out when I was done. The one thing that I never think I experienced before was that I am very fatigued in my arms today. So on drill #3 with the stability ball I was pushing to get through it...twice, at least the upper body part. But I just kept smiling at myself in the mirror and kept saying "I am so proud of you that you picked drill max today all on your own!" LOL It worked until I got to drill 5!

Tomorrow is PUB again and I still am not sure what I am going to do. I am thinking about doing the pyramid down and then when they get done with the third set pausing it and doing the other two sets that are not included in that premix. We will see tomorrow. My bi's are very sore still and tomorrow I am going to try to get the rest of the upper body to come along.

My friend is taking me to a belated b-day lunch today so I better go get ready...Hope you all had a good and hard workout today!

BBL

Rachel

Meso 2 Tri-sets - how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.... :p
Love those leg workouts! I will tell you...on the very last triset of the workout, I thought I was going to throw up! Why you ask? Well, I probably had too much coffee in my stomach, couple with too many water guzzles, coupled with major sweat and fatique! (It only last a couple seconds though...not enough to make me stop!)

Rachel, I was laughing at YOU on Drill Max w/stabillity ball! I have learned not to do that workout after having an arms day! I don't give up but have had to either get the ball over my head quickly or down quickly to get some reprieve! Biceps are screaming!

I meant to comment the other day about PUB. I often like to do the PUB DOWN premix as your muscles aren't expecting to go heavier to lighter. I think it's a good way to shake things up. The workout clocks in around 40 minutes (if I remember right).

Hello Cendrine and Kim! It's pooring rain here! Cendrine, any slides near you? I saw the horrible rains your having on the news. Kim, are you counting down the CLX workouts?

Gotta go!

Hi Girls,

C&W for me today. I did it on two risers for some extra burn... I did pretty well.
Rachel, Drill max is another one to dread! I only did the double cardio once in my life so far... You are braver than me! I'm going to get to do DM sometime in my circuit rotation, and I am already talking myself into it...

Jo, you alwasy make me laugh with your comments, and i feel so much better hearing someone else admit that they don't just breeze through the toughies...!

Not much else to report except I got to get dh and ds to drink a green smoothie today, 20oz and 12 oz respectively! Last night I made a vegetarian wrap with raw veggies and beans and cheese (I count cheese as vegetarian...) dh liked it but he did say he would like it even more with chicken in it... He's really a good sport, but it also occurred to me that really, he doesn't have much choice, since if he didn't eat what I make, he would basically eat toast and peanutbutter...LOL

Jo- Is it wrong to congratulate you on pushing so hard you made your self sick?:p:rolleyes::D Probably!

I am just wasting away the rest of this day! My FIL wants to have a garage sale and I have plenty of stuff to go in it but it is a lot of big stuff that would need to go on the back of the truck and with the weather being so uncooperative that is not really an option. So i am looking at the mess that is collecting around me and just wanting to shut the door and pretend it does not exist!

OK promise not to laugh when I tell you I just joined the 21st century and opened a facebook account:eek:. I don't even know why. I guess boredom had set in but then I was bored after a while of looking through all those photos of people from high school. Of course I would be lying if I said I did not find a few very funny. I am sure people would find mine funny too. I am soo different from the person I was in high school!
I still am not sure if I get the point of facebook:confused:. I think I am at that age that technology was just starting to really blow up when I was getting out of high school. Right at the cusp of when the internet was taking off...Oh well I will probably always be 5 yrs behind and I am OK with that!:D

Jo-So now you are getting the rain. I feel your pain. I think we are going to have it for the next 2 days and then it is going to clear out and be nice. I know you have probably said this before but what is it that you do...work wise I mean? I must have missed this along the way some where.
I forgot too, to ask what did y'all do without electricity for a week. That must have been a great time!

Cendrine-I can not believe you got your kids to drink green smoothies. Not that I have kids but I was one once and I am positive that I would not have been able to be even forced to try a 'green smoothie'. Boy how things change. Do you make yours in the blender? I am really going to have to try this!
You are lucky that dh will try what you make. Normally I make 2 versions of dinner. Mine and DH's but if I am feeling lazy I will pull one of my premade soups out of the freezer and DH will have to fend for himself. Then it is normally something terrible like just a steak! No sides because well probably a couple of reasons...too lazy to clean up after that and too hungry to wait for something other than a steak to get done. You would think that he would be 100 pounds over weight and totally out of shape but on the out side he looks great but I do worry about the inside though!

OK I am off again...Kim I hope dh is doing good!

Rachel

Oh Cendrine that is such a hoot about DH! The first time I made the kale soup DH said it was good...but would be much better with sausage! HA!

Good job on getting them to drink the smoothies! They'll love it before you know it! I got DH to drink my kale lemonade (or whatever I made) that I made Saturday and though he admitted it was pretty good, wasn't asking for more! He too, is being a good sport about as he says, otherwise he would starve! HA HA Starving and toast and peanut butter! Got to love them! :D

Hey Jo,

you must have posted at the same time as me. No slides here, we are where it is pretty flat, so I'm not worried about it. And I got the rain at night that I love!

Good job working out so hard! I don't think I would have it in me to push myself so hard to want to throw up...I'm a couch potato at heart even though I try very hard to cover that up! LOL!
Yup, the kale soup is much more liked with sausage in this house too! LOL!

Rachel, the green smoothie is not so bad because it acutally looks purple because it has frozen berries in it. So ds asked me this morning what all was in it and I told him everything but the spinach part...LOL! It tastes sweet enough to make you forget the spinach. However, at this point I only have a cup of spinach in it, I'm supposed to put in at least two! Not sure if I'll ever work all the way up there but I'm going to try.

Well Rachel it looks like we were posting at the same time earlier and Cendrine and I earlier than that. So I guess we've all been off and on all day!

Rachel, okay...confession here. I'm on facebook but I mostly play games! Some friends wanted me to get on, so I did and then nobody is ever on! So another friend got me started playing games on FB (and I'm a game player from forever!). Weird I know! And who'd a thought I would play these silly things? I was a card player for heavens sake! So, I mostly get on to play games! :p But, it is good for people that do lots of pictures and rather than email them to everyone they just put them on FB. For work, I'm Vice President of Research and Development for a homebuilding software company; so I'm a software engineer by trade but have been in mgmt for a good little while. Now, another confession...when the economy is better I don't have time to play games! I usually work about 60 or 70 hours a week and until just before I met all of you, I was on the road 2 weeks a month. So about the only online activity I did until earlier this year was get on Cathe's forum, buy Cathe DVD's and buy books from Amazon!

Cendrine, I didn't really mean to work out so hard that I felt sick! HA! But it certainly let me know I was working out hard! So are you making the smoothies in a blender then? How is that for grinding up vegetables? You would like Imax Xtreme, it alters C&W cardio segments with Imax 2 intervals. There's a little weight work in there also, but I usually skip through that and do cardio only. It clocks in around 70 minutes. The weight sections are real short so it's a very cardio intensive circuit.

Okay, I guess we're going to watch a movie! If I get a good night sleep tonight then tomorrow I'm going to do BM2 Scrambled cardio premix. Keep your fingers crossed! Otherwise I'll do Drill Max scrambled cardio.

Hey, I got BM2 cardio on the menu tomorrow too! Now if it was me, I would do DM cardio if I got a good night's sleep and BM2 cardio if not... Is BM2 premix longer than the DM premix you're looking at? I can't ever remember the times...

I was talked into FB as well by a friend who didn't want to email pics. So I signed up and haven't been on for so long that I can't remember what my sign in info is. I tried all sorts of things, my email address had changed a few times due to spam issues and I just finally gave up trying...

People have found me by finding dh on FB, isn't that funny? Games can be so addictive! Wow, Jo, you worked some serious hours a while back! I'm kind of glad you had a break so we could get to know you! Oh, and yes, I blend everything in my blender. It's a super old one dh had from his parents, it's at least 40 years old! It still works! It blends up frozen chunks of red beets just like that, and makes cashews nice and creamy. I have my eye on a new blender when this one gives out, anyone heard of blendtec? It can pulverize marbles! Not that I'm going to try it. And the blender looks like it's going to be happy for quite a while longer. I just ordered a bigger blender jar so I can make more smoothies at the same time. Ds requested another green smoothie for tomorrow's breakfast!

Cendrine, I said BM2 Scrambled cardio but I meant BM2 Scrambled Eggs cardio! :D It's 80 minutes and alternates the cardio and power circuits! It's really really fun! But now that I think about it, since I did legs today, I'll use really light weights for the leg weight portion or skip through that. Anyway, try it if you haven't already! It's a blast and I know you'd like it!

Good morning Gals...!?

Hope every one got there workouts in as scheduled. I mean I hope you all got the sleep you needed to do the hard versions!;) This morning it was PUB and since I just did it on Mon. I wanted to do the other premix version which was pyramid down but I did not like just doing three sets so when I got to the third set I paused it and pyramided back up:p. This was all fine until I got to that dreaded bicep version:eek: Do I have to say that I only went back up one set. That would have been 15#'s for 8 reps, 12#'s for 10, 10 #'s for 12, and by this time I am on fire since the bi's are still sore from Mon.! So then I just went up to 12's for 10 and I was spent. No blow drying for me today! Good thing I do not have to go anywhere:D
So tomorrow is PLB and even though I did get DOMS, not as bad as the bi's, I think I am going to try to increase the weight on some portions. When I did it on Tuesday I just used the weight that she used but I think I might could handle a little more. Time will tell I guess.

Jo-You know how many times I have seen that BM2 scrambled eggs and never even checked it out. I have wished that there was a circuit interweaving the blast in with the regular step portion. Now you have made me want to do that one instead of whatever is on the calendar for Saturday but I think I will hold off one more week and then insert it into the circuit weeks I am going to do. So did you get it in? I hope so! SO you can tell me how much hard work it was.
I can not believe you are a software engineer...You must want to reach through the computer and choke me for my lack of computer skills:D.
I second the motion that I am happy that you got to take a break and had time to join our group and we all get to know you. I don't think it would be the same without some of the things you have said. When I tell dh about you I still refer to you as "Squirt Guns"...Lovingly of course!

Cendrine-I swear you are so much like me sometimes. When I do get around to trying a green smoothie I will definitely be winging myself into it. And I would be afraid to add too much. My only problem right now is trying to know where to incorporate them into my day. In the morning, when I am working esp, I get up eat a quick something and then let it settle about 20 to 30 min and start working out. Then if I do cardio, I eat oatmeal with berries after and if I do weights I do a protein shake. I know I need to wing myself off the manufactured protein but it so convenient for me. Convenience, I know is not always a good or healthy thing. Maybe I will try one today for my 3 pm snack.
I have not heard of a blendtek but I think if I am not mistaken, the one I have always had my eye on is called a vitamix. It is kind of pricey but all the reviews on it say that it is worth every penny. You are supposed to be able to even make hot soup in it.

Any way, I think this is our last gloomy day. Jo did that Noreaster (spelling) effect you any. I always wondered what one of those was like:p:rolleyes:

Have a great day!

Rachel

Okay so I got a great night sleep but slept too long! So I only had 45 minutes to workout and decided to do 40 minutes of BM2 Scrambled Eggs! Rachel - DO IT! I love this workout! It is so much fun and a nice break from doing all cardio then all circuits! I did skip through the leg portions and just did cardio and blasts. Great job on PUB! You rock and you made it your own! The biceps are real killers in that workout! You and I use the same weights only on the last 12 rep'er I end up using 8's (if I can still do it!).

Busy day so I'll check back later.!

Hi Guys,

I did the BM2 Cardio blast. For some reason it really had me puffing today, but it is one of my favorite cardio workouts! I have never dared do the scrambled eggs because of the 80 min.... Maybe I will do it on a day when the kids don't have school. It sure sounds fun! Nothing like shaking things up!

So I made my smoothie with two cups of spinach today and by two cups I mean pureed cups not loose. I felt rather brave I have to say, and as I was doing it I was telling me what was wrong with upping it by 1/4 cup increments...LOL! But, happy to say, it went down well, I didn't have to force it! LOL I gave some of the lighter smoothie that I made for ds and dh to dd, not much at all, and she did not enjoy it. I wonder if it is because she saw me make it? But she has been more picky with other things as well, so maybe it's just that.

Rachel, I have heard of the Vitamix and it's price tag. The blendtec is the same price range, but I have heard that the blendtec stores better because it is not as high but wider. I think other than that they are both great blenders!

Well what a busy day it has turned out to be!
In true DH fashion he decided today at about 12 noon that he wanted to have a garage sale this weekend...So needless to say I have been scrambling ever since. We have been talking about having one at my FIL's for a while but I have just been thinking it was all talk...And then here he comes with the idea of doing it tomorrow. Just like a guy, they think you can just throw these things together in a few hrs. Oh well I guess he was right because we loaded up the car and truck and took everything over there. Now we just have to put out signs in the morning and open up the garage and let the people flow. Wish us luck!

Jo-So glad you got a good nights sleep but sorry you missed out on the scrambled eggs...
That is funny on the weights, that we use the same ones. I should have went down to eights at the end too...instead I just cried:D

Cendrine-I did not even think about the size of the blender. Right now I have a waring pro and it is a good blender. My last one was a kitchen aid and it really was not all that great.
You made me LOL talking to yourself and coaxing yourself into adding a little at a time.I can see myself doing that. You might be right about dd seeing you make the shake and then not liking it as much but then again she still tried it so at least she has an adventurous spirit! I think I read somewhere that if you introduce a food to a kid and they do not like it you are supposed to try again and again, up to 7 times I think. How do you do that, I have no clue. You know it is easier to write the book on raising kids than actually doing it...I am sure. I am such an expert since I don't have any!

OK...I am going to shower and read and try to relax until tomorrows big sale!

Rachel

Okay, got CLX done (7 workouts left!:p) and watched x-weighted. It's a Canadian weight loss show, except with no prize, or voting people out. Very Canadian;) Sorry, I wasn't around yesterday, I was at a professional association meeting. Made for a very long day as left the house at 7am and didn't get home till 9 pm.

Can you believe ds has been on the phone almost steady since I got home at 4:45 and it's now 8:30. I thought it was girls that were supposed to spend all day on the phone;););)

So what does it say about my age, if I tell you that I have really no idea what Facebook is but my son spends way too much time on it. LOL. My sister is on it, and I tell her to check in and see what he is doing sometimes.

Jo Can you believe that they didn't vote Tracy out on TBL?? Makes you really wonder if we're not getting the full story. I am counting down CLX, I'm tired of these workouts and missing my Cathe workouts especially when I read everyone talking about them.

Rachael Oh yes, drill max #5 done twice. That is incredibly hard! Good luck on the garage sale!

Cendrien I'm very impressed that you can get your kids to drink the smoothies. My kids love fruit smoothies. We don't eat nearly as clean as the rest of you.

Kim

Hey Kim, how fun that you get to land back in Cathe land soon! I can imagine it being even more hard when we are all talking about her workouts!
Wow, your son is on the phone a lot! I am so not a phone person. Most of the time, I am quite happy when I get the machine... I'm sure it has to do with my family making fun of anyone in the family who was on the phone and all... Oh well, I wonder if my kids will get attached to the phone when they get older...
By the way, I am not as clean eating as I may sound, otherwise I wouldn't have some pounds to loose right now... We definitely enjoy the non clean things but we do try to make most of our meals healthy. When it comes to picky eating, I simply have no tolerance for it, that is probably my meanest streak as a mom. I don't short order cook and so if you want to eat at my house you eat what's on the table and if you want dessert you finish what is on your plate unless I dished out too much...;)

Rachel, those parenting books told me to keep reintroducing the rejected foods 10 times.... I have to admit, no matter how often you put liver on my plate I will still hate it and rater go to bed hungry... I try to remind myself of that when the kids still don't like something after multiple tries... parenting books are great, but you have to figure out what works. I would have been lost without a parenting book when I first had ds, I modified many thing as I went along but it was a good starting point...
Good luck for your garage sale tomorrow! I don't think you could pull of a garage sale here on a Friday, nobody would come. Are you guys doing it after work hours? I like looking through other people's things. Even if I don't buy anything. The last few garage sales I have gone to were by people I know and they would not let me pay for the things I wanted ....

I'm doing weights and step circuit from SJP tomorrow. I haven't done the premix before and haven't done the actual main workout in a long time. I'm looking forward to it but it probably won't be a smooth ride since I'm going to have to get my bearings.

I made a no-bake chocolate chip cookie today and everyone enjoyed them. It's made by pureeing raisins and dates, then adding rolled oats, cinnamon, pinch of salt and some agave then mixing in raw cocoa nibs. I got the recipe from clean eating magazine and had no idea what cocoa nibs were until I read the article. I saw them at the store last week and picked them up. They are nice and crunchy but no sweetness to them at all so you really have to mix them in with something sweet. It worked great in the dried fruit. Never heard of such a thing as a raw cookie. Of course to me a cookie is crunchy and this one is more like a soft ball. But it was tasty.

Quick last post for me. Ugh...what a day! To make a long story short: we had to do lay off's today and my hours are also reduced to 30 hours. Oh this economy has got to turn around! Now understand, because of the position I'm in, I was expecting to reduce hours (well, better than the alternative) so it's okay but a little unsettling to do yet another round! This is the 4th time we've done layoff's in the last 18 months. So, that's why I didn't make it back today. I'll comment more tomorrow but...

Kim, we want you back doing Cathe with us but so glad you dared to venture out! :p I'll be interested to see if Tracy turns her teammates around and becomes a vital member (or not!).

Cendrine, speaking of not eating clean...DH brought home steaks tonight! I didn't dare eat a whole one as I knew it would give me a stomachache (because of not having any for a long time) but I did eat about 3 ounces and it was delicious!

Rachel, good luck with the G-sale! I have stuff....lots and lots and lots of old VHS workouts!:p

Off to read and try and relax!

Hey gals!
Just a quick checkin from the garage sale.
I did not realize this a big weekend around here for antiquers'. It is what they call the hiway 80 sale and we are right off of hiway 80 so maybe this will help our chances!

This morning I did the pyramid down from PLB. I was going to do it the same way I did PUB but since I was low on time I just added about 20 more lbs instead! It was a good workout but a little quick! I like to suffer a little longer!

How was your workout?

I will be in and out today I am sure.

Have a great day

Rachel
