6 Month Alumni -Week of Nov 8

Runcrazy

Cathlete
Good Morning! Just getting us started! I'm off to work out but haven't a clue what I'm going to do! BBL!

Cendrine, just read your last post. So assuming Rachel gets her workouts this week, we'll start Nov rotation next Monday, the 16th. It would be great having you do this too! Kim, you're welcome too if it fits in your plans...how long is Insanity anyway? Is that another 12 weeker?

Okay, I'm off to stare at my workouts and figure out what to do...I'm thinking maybe ME, MM, or a kettlebell workout.

I decided to do The Gauntlet (from Terminator) but I only did about 40 minutes as I didn't quite have the steam to get through the whole thing. Normally I would have pushed myself on but want to make sure I don't overdo and give myself time to reenergize!

It's very blustery here today. DH is out blowing off the driveway, I've got laundry going and going to work on my clothes. So yes, I've struggled with the closet cleaning so yesterday I did start with drawers. I went through three drawers so I feel more motivated now. I actually accomplished something! Then we went to Seattle to have dinner with some friends that live downtown. It was really fun and very cold! My GF lives in a condo high rise so we all bundled up and walked to where there is all these neighborhood restaurants. We ate at this little Italian restaurant where I had some scallops and a beet salad which was awesome!

Off to the shower! Time to get busy!

Hi Jo and everyone else!

Ok, so I'm good with starting the 16th, or even tomorrow if Rachel has what she needs for the first week.
I had to order the gym style series, of course used my coupon and got the sts t-shirt as well as the Terminator! Woohoooo! I can't wait to get it!

Today's green smoothie was with raw cranberries, collards and chard.... I had my doubts, because I have tasted raw cranberries before...LOL, but it actually blended together quite nicely! (It helped that it also called for banana, blueberries and apples...)

Good job on the closet and drawer work Jo! I still haven't had the energy to tackle mine...

I hope all is well with you Rachel and Kim!

OK so sorry I have not been back today...I started a thread this morning very early but I think I labeled it different. I wrote about the movie Food Inc. So I will let yall go read about it there if you want. It is just terrible. I had to go to the grocery store today and just did not want to buy anything that was not organic. But unfortunately we do not have too many options around here so I hardly bought anything! I think I am going to try and find a small butcher shop and see if I can get my meat that way. You all should watch it. It is not only about meat but about seeds and farmers and everything. There was just so much stuff that I did not know! It is really eye opening!

OK I ordered the calendar and I got the code so as soon as I get through here I am going to order the other dvds. I should get them this week so I should be able to start next week too. I do not think I had everything for the first week so I need to get my order first! I am very excited to be starting a new rotation!

I had a tough day. It started by waking up at 4 and I decided since I had a lot I wanted to get done today, I would go ahead and get started and I have been going ever since. We had some furniture that needed to be redone so I started with the end tables today and it took longer than I thought. Then I made 2 lasagnas, One bad one for DH and one healthy one for me. So very busy around here.

I am going to go and get my order in and maybe order a shirt since I had a little leway with the coupon...\

Rachel

Ok order is in...SO I am hope I will get them to start nov.16...I did not get a shirt...I have done enough damage for one day!!!!:p:D:eek:

I am so excited...!!!!

Rachel

Rachel, there are some online organic food places that will deliver, you might want to google that and see if you can find someone in the area who will deliver to you. I think that might be a great option for you, since you have nothing good in the immediate area.
I put the movie on the list in my Netflix list because I think even though I think I know a lot already about organic vs non organic and all, I would like to see it for encouragement to keep going the clean and organic way....

Rachel, I apologize! I did not see the other thread! I'm always looking for the "6 Month" at the beginning of the Title. I was surprised you hadn't already started the thread when I started this!

With that said, I'll have to check the Food movie out!

I'm excited that you guys will have all the DVD's! Rachel let us know when your order is supposed to arrive and we'll start the rotation right after!

Cendrine, what workouts have you NOT tried yet out of your bundle? Are there alot?

Rachel, sorry you're having a tough day!

I'm sitting here working on my resume (just in case).

Kim, how's your weekend?

:DOh you're all tempting me with the November rotation. But we'll be on holidays during the middle of it and I better finish Insanity as DH is really enjoying it :rolleyes:. But he still wouldn't do them if I wasn't doing them.

Finished week 2! (its 9 weeks, Jo, 4 intense, 1 recovery and another 4 intense)

DS started his hockey season this weekend. ( I know it feels like it started ages ago after 20 tryout sessions and then practices). His first game was Friday night which ended in a tie, but they were winning till the last minute of play. Another game this morning which ended in a loss. :( He played great though! Also did swimming and piano lessons. DD and I did some scrapbooking and I recaulked the bathtub:rolleyes: That was my weekend.

Oh and we put up the Christmas lights yesterday and bought a new set for the flowerbed. It's a string of 5 lollipops that light up in moving pattern, very cute.

I'll be interested to hear what Cendrine and Rachael think of their new dvds over the next month.

I promise to be make into the Cathe rotations in January and probably stick with them for a long time after such a long time away. It's my longest Cathe free break in years

Jo, I am pretty sure I have done all the workouts in my bundle at least once except for Ab hits which was included but I really don't see myself using it much...
You are wise woman to be working on your resume, but I hope that you won't be needing it unless you want to be the one to leave!

Kim, I have regrouted and caulked our shower once, what a drag! I hope yours went well! I can't believe ds is only just starting the actual season, it's like you said, it felt like he had been doing it all along....LOL!

You guys are amazing to already have the lights up! We have kind of started a tradition to put up the tree and decorations day after Thanksgiving, because we always end up having time on our hands the day after and it just has kind of started to happen that way every year! The lollipops do sound cute!

Good morning guys!

I am kind of taking a light week this week to prepare for the new rotation. I never took any time off from lifting until I did sts and followed Cathe's recommendations and I really think I did benefit. So this week I am going to try not to do any weight work and maybe do a lot of stretching and some light cardio. I think I need to be a better stretcher any way!

Jo-Way to go on working on the closets...a little at least. As far as the resume goes, it is probably always a good idea to be prepared.
I did not have a bad day yesterday...I was really kind of proud I got so much accomplished. I normally talk myself out of stuff if the plate looks so full so I am glad got a lot done.

Kim-We're gonna miss you on the rotation but I am proud of you for hanging in there with Insanity. I think you would regret it if you stopped half way through. I can not believe you already got you lights up. You are on top of things...Finished x-mas and all ready to go. I am so jealous!

Cendrine-We grew up with the tradition of putting the tree up the day after Thank. too. But now my MIL is from Norway and they never put their tree up until the night before I think and so I kind of start puttiing things out and then wait until the week before for the tree. Sometimes I do not even get a tree. I just decorate the house. We do not have kids or I would always have a tree for them!

Ok got to go make some bucks!!!

Rachel

Good Morning Everyone!

Quick post - I did Butts & Guts today doing only the standing portion of butts as I wanted to be sure and get the guts in! LOL! The weather here has turned so rainy, windy and cold that I find it very hard to get out of bed (flannel sheets are, Oh so nice!). Anyway, I cut into my workout time as I didn't want to get up!

BBL!

Goodness, I'm sure glad that today is a rest day. I could not sleep last night, the last time I looked at the clock it was after 3 am. I'm so tired. I rarely have trouble sleeping:confused: Came home from work dreading making supper, and my sweet ds had popped in a frozen lasagna from the freezer after school. :D Very thoughtful for a 12 year old.

Rachael I think that taking a light week is a great idea! I know I really burnt out trying to go from CLX to Insanity without a recovery week. We need them every once and awhile. I am pretty organized but we usually do our annual vacation at the beginning of December and I find I get stress if I leave everything till afterwards. I'm always tempted not to put a tree as our house is quite small and it just seems to take up so much room but just wouldn't seem like Christmas without it.

Cendrine Thanks giving is coming up for you guys! The Christmas decorations the day after seems like a great idea as that's a holiday in the USA right? What are the kids wanting for Christmas??

Jo So are you all better now?? The cold rainy weather doesn't seem nice at all. We have been having great weather. We had that one snowfall in early October then it got nice again. Sunny and plus 13 C, this weekend. I'm still looking forward to the Florida sunshine though. It's unusual for us to be so warm at this time of the year but we're not complaining!

The Olympic torch is going through my province right now. They were running through the town of Churchill where our friends live on the weekend and a polar bear strolled onto main street and they had to stop the parade. Lots of hoopla starting with the Olympics being in Canada. Are you all planning on watching?? I love watching the Olympics.

Hi Again!

Kim, yes, I'm all better! Just a touch of tired here and there but feeling and looking on top of the world! Yes, we've been running a little colder than you. It was about 8 celcius here over the weekend but today it's a little warmer. I LOVE the Olympics! Lots of excitement around here about the Olympics too since we're only 2 hours from Vancouver! I can only imagine what it will be like trying to get across the border those weeks during and leading up to the Olympics! Polar bear stopped the parade! I would have loved to see that! We saw all the hoopla last weekend when the torch was in Victoria and some people I know went up to see it! I would love to go to the Olympics since it's so close, but when we checked on pricing...oh my goodness! And, with my work situation right now, it would be more money than we would want to spend. (Did I say long lines at the border? HA!) Hope you get a good night sleep tonight! That was very sweet of DS to pop the lasagna in and I know you appreciated it!

Rachel, like Kim said, I think it's good you're taking a light week. It does a body good! We usually put our tree up right after Thanksgiving also, but I think last year we did it the week before. I seem to be the only one that wants one! We have an artifical tree. We use to always buy a live tree and then plant them but I have well over a hundred trees so don't need any more!

Cendrine, is your neck still bothering you or did your pain go away? Do you go Disneyland during the holiday season? I bet they are decorated to the hilt! I was thinking about you homeschooling the other day and how good that is to keep you engaged in different subjects. I used to really enjoy helping my stepson with homework as lots of times I was learning too or being reintroduced to things I'd forgotten.

Have you all had a good Monday!

I do not really have that much to report in on. I am so glad that when I logged in yall all were saying that a light week sounded good!!! I almost had myself talked out of it. I do think it would do a body good though before I start giving it all I got for the November rotation.

The weather here is fairly warm. It has gone from kind of chilly to almost 65 F last night. I always jump the gun on putting the flannel sheets on down here.

Jo-I used to always get the trees you could plant too but they never lived. I swear I have a black thumb. So now I find something to string lights on around here and put the presents around it...Last year it was a wooden reindeer:rolleyes: Who knows what will happen this year.

Kim-It is funny to me how you just talk about the polar bear like it is no big deal. 'The parade had to pause for the polar bear'!!! That is mind boggling for me. I do not think that there are any animals in my general vicinity that could eat me.! Much less one that would come to a parade! We do live on opposite ends of the Earth!:p

Cendrine-I forgot earlier to tell that there is a lot more to Food Inc than just the organics. It talks a lot of the monopoly that huge corporations have put on the food market. There are a lot of things about seed patenting that I had never heard of. I am so glad you are going to watch it so you can tell me what you think. It is really impacting me more than I thought it would!

OK I am going to go brush my teeth and relax. Hope you all had a great day...Rachel

Hi Everyone!

I just got home from spending all day at Legoland... It was a great time to go, hardly any people there, it was nice!

I did C&W before going and can't remember what I was doing tomorrow, so will have to visit the calendar before shutting down...

Kim, I had to laugh about the Polar bear incident too! Now we do get mountain lions here and coyotes, that keep me from going too far, but polar bears are a whole different story! Your son is an angel, getting dinner ready! You must be so proud of him! I don't really follow the Olympics, but it's fun to see everyone else be excited about it!
What do the kids want for Christmas? Everything in each catalog they can get their little hands on! But really ds wants the Wii. Dh is kind of into it so he is going to get it. DD is a bit easier and cheaper to shop for LOL!

Jo, a hundred trees! Wow, that would be heaven for my tree climbing son! You don't call that a hundred trees, you call that a forest! LOL

Rachel, I'm glad your week is lighter so you can rest and gear up for next week! I can't wait for Food Inc, but it has a wait on it in my Queue, so I'm not sure how soon it will make it here. I will definitely let you know what my thoughts were!

Good morning everybody...

This morning it was the 4DS low impact step. So it was a pretty short workout so I did a little sleeping in. It was great.

I have not even checked my email yet to see when I am getting my dvd's. I guess I need to do that:eek:. I never check it so I always have to try to remember my password because by the time I do check it, it's not on there anymore.

Yes I think 100 trees does constitute a forrest:D. The funny thing is that Joe actually knows she has 100 trees. I think that is great!

Cendrine-Legoland sounds like a lot of fun for the kiddos! I am glad that you did not have all the crowds. That is what keeps me away from places like that!

Jo-Are you getting any relief from the rain and cold? We are still warm here and looks like we will be that way for a little bit. I like it to at least be chilly for Thanksgiving!

Kim-I do not know why I always forget that you do not have Thanksgiving when we do.:rolleyes: My brain, I swear sometimes...
Your son must be a real sweety. I was elated when DH was emptying the dishwasher last night. If he was to put dinner on I think I would probably pass out. So I think it is very thoughtful of you ds to do that! WHat a great man he will grow up to be if he keeps that up!

OK I guess I better get off here, blow fry my hair , throw it in a bun and get on with today!!!

Have a great day!!!!!!

Rachel

Hi Girls!

Today I did Step Jam! An old favorite! I remember when this came out in 1996 - I used to do it about 3 times a week! (I didn't have so many workouts to choose from then! :p) I love this workout for steady state!

Yes, I have lots and lots of trees (you know it's green in Seattle right? LOL!) We actually have to pull up trees like weeds in the spring! We have lots of old growth cedar (mostly cedar), various pine and some maples and cottonwood thrown in!

Rachel, isn't LIS a great workout to do for a short cardio? I love the warm-up- it's probably one of my very favorite!

Legoland! Now that's one I've never seen or been to! I can only image what that's like!

Kim, hope you enjoyed your rest day and got a good night sleep last night!

Hope everyone is having a good day!
