Cathlete
Just a quick post to get us started for the week. Just sipping my coffee before taking kids to swimming lessons.

Will do the last workout in month one sometime today.

One week till Disney!:D:D

Good Morning Kim! Thanks for getting us started with a BRAND NEW WEEK!!!!

Just finishing my coffee and off to do a PS workout!

It's raining cats and dogs! (Nothing new here huh? :p)

BBL!

Hi Again! I completed PS Chest, Shoulders and Triceps! I forgot how fast these workouts move and how short they are. This workout was about 40 minutes. I also had to drop weight from what I've been doing with STS, again because of the fast reps and no rest. (But not alot!) I still suck at push-ups no matter what workouts I do! I was glad though to have my incline risers as of course they didn't even exist when I used to do this workout. I also decided to tack on the abs (from the Back and Bicep workout) since the workout was shorter and I'll be doing them again with legs on Thursday. All in all, I feel GREAT! I feel like I had a good workout and I'm energized! I think I'll go make some juice!

It is still pouring rain here (another big storm came in last night) so I'm planning on doing some cleaning to get ready for Thursday. I still haven't decided what I'm cooking. Our friends are coming over (just 2) that do holidays with us as none of us have family withing the vacinity. So there'll just be 5 of us. I have to go to Target or some place today to get a new table cloth. So do you guys have this problem? I had this wonderful table cloth I bought at Linens and Things bankruptcy sale. It's 100% cotton so of course I can't put it in the dryer. I used it for the first time last month. I washed it last weekend and hung to dry and it still shrunk over 8 inches in length so no longer fits the table. Also, the colors bled. It was this nice soft yellow with burgundy and green plaid (kind of woodsy looking) with the yellow the main color. Well, now it's pink! LOL! I can't believe it shrunk so much line drying!!!

Okay, off to the shower! I want to make the most of the day!

Oh and Kim, I'M getting excited about your Disney trip! I love when the countdown begins! LOL!

Oh no on the tablecloth Jo ! And because it was a bankruptcy sale, there's no way to get money back:mad: Hope it didn't cost much.

Glad you had a great start to week 2 of the November rotation! DH and I finished month 1 of Insanity!!!:D:D So happy to be done! Though I would be happier if I could go into a recovery week instead we're going to jump right into week 1 of Month 2 tomorrow!

Not doing much the rest of the day. DH took ds and some friends skating (indoors) as we still have above average weather. I took kids to swimming lessons this morning. The CFL semifinals (Canadian football ) is on tv tonight and the boys are excited to watch it.

Oh wow what a day...Sorry for the late check in but I have been busier that a cat covering....well you know! It was my rest day but there has not been much rest to it. I am cleaning and cooking and grocery shopping and still have a dinner to prepare tonight. My GF is coming over and we are going to watch twilight. I am enjoying the day though. I always like when I get a lot done in one day. I feel like I really used this day to my advantage!:D

Kim-I can not believe Disney is in one week. But more than that I can not believe that you already have your Tree up your presents wrapped and are done...Oh if I could be so ahead of schedule. I bet your kiddos are super excited. About it all! I forgot to ask how long they have out for Christmas...It must be a good while!

Jo-So sorry about the rain! But you are used to it huh? I think every time I buy a table cloth that happens to me:rolleyes:. I do not know what ticks me off worse the shrinkage or the color bleeding! Esp. when it is one I really like. You almost want to never eat on them to keep them clean:D

Oh yea I forgot to tell yall that I found KALE in the grocery store today!!! I kind of feel a little dumb but I was not quite sure how to use it:eek: So I ripped it from the stem and added it to a soup I made for lunch. Is that right? I added it near the end of cooking time kind of like spinach. It seemed ok but I did not want to add too much until I heard from you professionals;)

Cendrine- I hope you are having a great day!

Ok I am off to see what I can get finished before I start prepping dinner!

Rachel

Quick hello again! Kim, so do you think we should all consider Insanity? Or is the jury still out? And, no, the table cloth was only about $10 since it was on clearance and then clearance again! But, it was a really nice tablecloth!! :(

Rachel, hope you enjoy your day with GF. Do let me know how the movie is. I haven't see the movie yet and a couple of GF want to go see the new one but I don't want to go until after I see the first one. I've heard really mixed reviews and you know how hard it is after you've read the book. Also, it's my experience it doesn't matter with the kale. I usually cut my other vegetables up enough so they cook in 25-30 minutes. I usually just throw the kale in when I throw in everything else. But, I've also done it like you just did. Since it's firmer than spinach, it doesn't wilt and really holds it's firm texture regardless. I'm so glad you found it!!! I hope you enjoy it like the rest of us have!

Okay, I'm off to Target. Oh, and Rachel, yep, me too...tableclothes and me just don't jive! I should just use them and give away...never wash! LOL!

Rachel, one more thing on the kale. Rather then tearing from the spine (I did that at first too) I just hold down the leaf and run the point of a knife along the spine to cut the leaf away. It goes really fast that way!

Hello Cendrine and Gayle! How's your day????

Hi Girls,

I finally made it to the computer...!
I'm so sorry about your tablecloth, Jo! What a drag!

Rachel, I'm excited you found Kale too! The way Jo described cutting the leaf off the stem does work really well. However, I tried cooking the stem along with everything else and it tasted just fine nothing woody or tough, so, being the person that I am, I am including it for extra fiber now. If you're looking for kale recipes, go on www.whfoods.org and find the free recipe section, type in Kale and it should give you a list of recipes that include Kale in it. I believe it also has a video clip on how to cut it and all. Good luck!

I'm enjoying my day off and am feeling rather sleepy. Wonder if it had anything to do with the fact that I had a lot of sugar today... We went to the pancake house and I had a completely nutritionally empty breakfast that was yummy for a change...
Now all I want is more sugar. Sometimes I need that reminder to stay away from it...!:rolleyes:

Don't feel bad Cendrine...I am going to have a pretty heavy dinner. It is going to be a four cheese pasta and prociutto and peas. It is going to be great but I am going to try to layer on the salad but it will be hard!:p Cendrine, I was going to ask you if you subbed something for the cycling in the rotation and if you did what you thought would be good. I know you have a spin bike, Jo but I would like your input too if you can think of something for a good sub!

I am kind of getting excited about Thanksgiving. Esp. those sweet potatoes, Cendrine. I have been needing a way to use that lite coconut milk that I bought to make that soup yall talked about but never did! I just was not sure if I would like it and hate to waste but coconut and sweet potato is right up my alley. Now the turkey breast...well I have found a way to make it totally unhealthy. I was watching food network the other day and Emeril just happened to be making his bacon and sage turkey breast...I just couldn't say no:eek:. It is just one day right? And of course the dessert will be a pumpkin and ginger bread trifle. I passed on the pie and thought this would be more interesting!. Normally we are at a family gathering and have so much to choose from so I thought this would give a feel of more than one dessert. Everything else is simple stuff i can sort of make ahead. A mashed potato casserole and the dressing. Then some green things....Green beans and broccoli probably and that is pretty much it but I am looking forward to getting in the kitchen and really making a mess.

Gonna go start grating cheese for the pasta now...Have a great Sunday

Rachel

Rachel, since the spinning is intense and biking hills is intense, I would substitute Imax 1 or 3 (probably 3) for the biking. You probably think I substitute an Imax for everything! :D But it just happens these fit the bill! I plan to do an interval spin session that day. Also, since she has Step Jam at the end of the week and that's steady state.

Cendrine, I'm thinking "d'oh!" about the kale stems! Yes, absolutely you can put them in the soup! I've been saving them and throwing them in my sautes! So you had a sleepy day today and I had one yesterday, but I have to tell you I was so FULL of energy today it was uncanny! But yes, maybe yours was the sugar! Anyway, I was definitely recharged today after a lazy day yesterday and I liked having a shorter workout session today!

Hope you girls enjoy PS tomorrow! I'll be doing KPC! Talk later! Good night!

PS...Target did not have hardly any tableclothes! I mean only like 4 to choose from so I'll hit Bed Bath and Beyond this week (I think I have a coupon!).

PS Chest tris and shoulders...Done! Wow that one was short wasn't it! It kind of caught me off guard. This is probably a good week for me to have those shorter workouts because I think we are going to put in a couple of long days so we can get a lot accomplished this short week. I am ready though. I am so geared up for this week and the long weekend. Oh what will I do with all that extra time:eek::rolleyes:

OK now the Thanksgiving plans have been finalized and it is a weird gathering. It is going to be DH and I and MIL and FIL who are divorced and have been for years and years. I don't think it will be that big of a deal because we all had Thanksgiving at FIL's house last year but there were way more of us that day so I could not tell if there were any weird feelings going on...This time it will be us four  So we will see. MIL is cool about it but FIL is weird some times and might actually think we are trying to set them up or some thing:D I will have to fill yall all in as it goes.

Jo-Just a quick thought on Twilight...oh yea and thanks for the suggestion. That is T-Day too so I probably need something intense:p.
DH and I are tough on movies...We are the worlds worst critics! So in saying that I think if I had not read the books I would have ripped this movie apart. It ,of course does not do the book justice , but because I did read the book, I could read into the story of the movie more. Otherwise I think the movie would have left out sooo much that I would not have really known what was going on. So that is probably how DH felt when he was watching it but he was good and bit his tongue and we had a fun night.

OK now I really have to go...Hopefully will BBL but if not I am thinking of you two...Kim and Cendrine!
Rachel

Just a quick post for me as I have to go to work:rolleyes:. Hopefully I will be able to post after trying the new Insanity workout tonight. If I can make it to the computer I will post:(

Rachael The kids are missing school to go to Disney:eek: We do that each year (and my parents always took us out of school for trips, they loved to travel) so far the school has been fine with that but we might have to change things as the kids get older. They get the week of Christmas and New Year's off.

BBL

Good Morning Everyone!

Wow, no traffic this morning! (Big surprise!) I did KPC and it felt good! I have lots going on today as we have many people on vacation this week so I'll check back later!

Rachel, you can cook with your extra time! LOL! Sounds like you liked that shorter workout like I did!

Kim, in case you don't make it back today...remember tomorrow is TBL! Only 2 more shows before the finale!

Hope everyone is having a good Monday!

Hi Everyone!

I messed up my lower back yesterday carrying a heavy laundry basket the wrong way... so working out was not fun today, and I have absolutely no idea why I stuck with my plan of back biceps and abs! How stupid is that? It wouldn't have hurt any to do the chest shoulder tricep one... But luckily, at least I have an appt. today and can get fixed up!

Rachel, I'm going to do the sweet potato dish too, so it will be fun to compare notes! I think I was going to sub double cardio from 4DS for the bike because I didn't feel like an imax... Jo is the right one to ask if you want to be told the right sub for it! LOL!

Not much happening here, so I'm gonna go. BBL

Well we were home earlier than I thought! I am sure though tomorrow might be different . We'll see.

Jo-TBL is coming to an end. Don't you hate when a show you like is ending. I am not sure but I think Grey's Anatomy might be off for the rest of the year and that is what I normally do early Sunday morning. That is my little bit of relax time before I get going.
I am glad you are a day ahead of us. You give me a good heads up of what is to come and I like that!

Cendrine-I knew you would probably be subbing too and was just wondering what you were going to do. I think the 4DS double cardio is plenty tough so just because you are not doing an IMAX doesn't mean you are not going to be working;). I hate that you jacked up your back again. I can not believe you still got a work out in. You are tough!

Kim-Now that makes Disney extra special that the kids get to be out of school for it. Do yall come back before school officially lets out for the Christmas break?
How was the new Insanity work out? Just keep thinking you do have a recovery in your future!

Ok I am off to start making sure I have everything in order for T-Day. i think if I do a little each night I won't have that much to do the day of.

Have a great night

Rachel

Dh and I just finished the first workout from month 2 of Insanity. It wasn't as bad as I feared;) Although it was longer (a hour instead of 40 minutes) it didn't seem as intense so we survived. Well I did, I'm not sure about DH:rolleyes:

Jo I figure the series finale for TBL will be while I'm away. I'll have to see if someone will tape it for me because I can never figure how to tape shows when we're away:eek: Or do you think it will be on the Internet somewhere to watch??

Rachael Oh yes, the kids are pretty excited about missing school. The will have 10 days of school left by the time we get back from holidays so won't be much especially with winding down for Christmas.

Cendrine Was the chiropractor able to help with your back??

Hi again,

back from the chiro and I am so glad I got to go! They have this nifty machine, forget what it's called, they just put it on the muscles that are tweaked and let you rest for about ten minutes and you never want it to end! It feels like it is somehow stimulating and massaging the muscle and I was already able to pick up my purse from the floor with less pain than when I walked in! Yay! I'm going to be on the heating pad for a bit for good measure after I get off the computer.

Kim, do your kids get a packet of work to do for the time they are missing from school? I never got to miss any school for vacation... that would have been fun! but our vacations were never really fun for us kids, we would have just as much kept going to school.... I'm glad your workout was good! Getting back to 60 min from 40 min is quite an adjustment for me, how was it for you?

Rachel, I'm planning on doing a little bit each day as well, it's not like I have that many days to work with...LOL! So what is your plan for subbing, you going with Jo's recommendations?

Heating pad is calling me!;)

Hi Everyone!

I did PS Back and Biceps today and really enjoyed! Again, I loved the shorter length today!

I don't have time to post much now...I just called to see if I could get a hair appt and they said they can get me in today if I can be there in 1/2 hour..so MUST GO! LOL!

Cendrine, so sorry about your back! It's amazing isn't it how innocent little manuevers can mess us up so easily! Hope you feel better soon!

Kim, I'll bet you'll be able to see the finale online but hopefully there'll be a week in between the last show and finale so you won't have to miss it.

Rachel, yes, I do hate it when a show is ending...it's last the last day of school! You don't know what to do when it's over! LOL!

Okay, gotta run to go for my appt! Hope your day is going well!

Hey guys...sorry for the late checkin. Time got away from me this morning with KPC an putting lunch together and getting breakfast made! By the time I was done I was running out the door.

KPC today was great! I will have to admit that I was not feeling it at first so I had to start talking to myself to get goin':D So I thought well if I can put that much effort into the punches I will really focus on my abs. So I started doing that and then before you know I had my energy and I was giving everything all I could. When I started to feel a lull I would either tell myself 'there is just a little more ' or I would think ok I will concentrate on my legs and butt then! As I set here, I am already kind of sore. I even got a little DOMS from yesterdays short Chest Tris and shoulder work out! I was really not expecting that.

So I have my ginger bread in the oven so tomorrow night when I get home I will try to put together the dressing and the dessert and maybe the mashed potato casserole. That is ambitious so I will have to see when we get home. But the more I get done tomorrow night the easier T-day will be and then I can really enjoy it and not be stressed about getting things done all a the same time!

Jo-Did you figure out what you were going to cook? Did you find the table cloth?

Cendrine-I do not know how you work out at all with your back issues. You are amazing! I would probably hang it up!
I like not having to do all the cooking in one day that way I can really concentrate on each thing and give it the attention I want to give it. I rarely get to cook such a meal so I like to make it special.

Kim-I just love it that you and you DH work out together. Do yall compete or encourage? Or is it a healthy dose of each.

OK well my GB is just about done so I am off to relax and read some before bed.

Rachel

Hi Guys,

just a really quick post. I had a really long day and my back acted up so badly this morning I had to skip the workout. Fortunately the chiro office was able to give me more therapy even though the drs weren't in. Feeling better now and hoping to be able to do chest shoulders and triceps tomorrow.

Rachel, the persimmon cookies turned out yummy, dh loves them particularly. Reminds me kind of your Gingerbread, since it has similar spices in it.

Jo, I enjoy the shorter workouts too, but at the same time I don't allow myself to get used to them...LOL!

Talk to you all tomorrow!

Cendrine you are too creative for words...I would have never thought about putting persimmon puree in cookies. That just goes to show you can make any thing out of any thing if you just put your mind to it. Maybe you should think about a cook book...I know I would buy it!
I was going to ask you if your chiro's ever try to talk you out of lifting?

OK it was bis and back...I loved this workout. It was my first time for all of the pure strength ones and I was not sure how I would like them. For chest day I was trying to mimic her weight but then I realized I could go a lot heavier so that gave me an extra boost of confidence since for once I was actually doing more weight than Cathe:D. These days that is rare! I hope I improve with age just like her.

Kim and to all of you have done any of the other long term work outs like p90 and since I know you particularly have done insanity and CLX, Kim...I was wondering if you think Cathe has done it best? Just from watching the infomercials it seems to me that they all are kind of mimics of each other. Of course I am not speaking from experience and I am biased. I just like the fact that Cathe put the effort into making the set of sts different through out! Can you tell I am on a Cathe High today...Oh well I could not think of anything better right now!

Ok I am off to work and then home to cook and cook and prep!
Hope yall are having a great day!

Rachel
