6 month alumni Week of Feb 21

Rest day for me today however busy day at work. I have meetings all day. Just checking in with you all while on a quick break.

Rachel, you sound like a whirlwind! Hope you have a good productive day!

Kim, I'm SO EXCITED for you! Did you get the lot by the park you were looking at?

Cendrine, hope your day is going well!

Again, I was up too late watching the Olympics! Going to bed at 12:30 isn't working for me! Oh well, it's only for two weeks every other year and so worth it!

BBL!

Hey Guys,

Congrats, Kim! Your comment cracked me up, you are so cute! Kind of stunned, are you? I would be too!

Jo, staying up late is fun sometimes, isn't it? But yep, it does affect the next day and so on...

Rachel, I bet you are glad the snow didn't stick, so you can go about your work!

Well I am getting tired...lol

I can not believe that I am almost done with meso 2. If you want time to fly all you have to do is a 3.5 month round of sts and it will. I am loving this rotation and like that Cathe has thrown in a few extra tricks this month. I have not even looked at the last month...Scary!

I have to admit , I have not been watching too much of the olympics but today I heard the story about the Canadian figure skater whose mother died of a massive heart attack at the olympics. I was tearing up as they played clips of the performance on the radio so I know I would have been bawling if I had watched it. It is just too sad nut I am so glad that she skated her personal best. That is a great triumph. You are right , Jo, those athletes are so inspiring!

Kim-What layout are yall going with and yes what lot? I am too curious. It is going to be fun to hear about this whole thing along the way! I am so glad you are sharing this with us.

Jo-I am jealous of your rest day! I am needing one badly. It is the weirdest thing though...I did not sleep all the way through the night last night and I woke up with ease this morning...Every other night I have slept all the way through the night and have had a terrible time waking up...Isn't that weird. I need your energy in the first part of the week but now I think I am rolling along!

Cendrine- I forgot to tell you the other day that those chocolate almonds sounded great. I think I am with you on the moroccan stew. I am more of a traditional chili person too. I have made a bunch this winter and subbed in bison with really no flavor difference for me. I think it has a better texture than turkey and really makes it more like regular chili for me.

OK I have used up the extra hr I somehow ended up with today on the computer so I better go and get something productive or at least relaxing done...Something, I have no idea what! Have a great night
See yall tomorrow!
Rachel

Yes, we got the lot we wanted and are building the bilevel rather than the 2 storey. The mortgage went through already today, the real estate business just moves so quickly! Our possession date is to be Sept 14th.
We were with the real estate agent for 3 hours last night after work so didn't get a workout in.
Today DH is working late, and it's freezing cold (-50 tonight with the wind chill). I feel like I'm missing out on watching the Olympics and spending time with the kids. DS wanted to watch the hockey game so much so we skipped swimming lessons and are curled up on the couch watch the game. We're having a great time so my workouts can wait one more day!

Yes, this rotation is sure going fast Rachael! I'm glad the snow didn't amount to much! How's the job going this week??

Yippee, on the weight loss for your friend Jo! She must be so excited!

Cendrine How that back pain today??

Got to go as the third period is starting soon, beating Russia 7-3!!:D:D

A local girl, Clara Hughes, just won a bronze medal this evening. She is the only Olympian in history to have medalled in winter and summer Olymics. She speed skates in the winter Olympics and cycles in the summer Olympics. Isn't that amazing to be that good in two sports!

Yes Kim I think that is amazing!!! I wish I was sporty and talented!:D

Well it is Thursday...one of my favorite days of the week because it is the last day of the week that I have to make a lunch in the morning since we eat lunch out on Fridays. I don't mind making lunch but I do like the extra time it gives me on Fridays when I do not have to make it!
It also puts a shiny note on leg day for me since they are on Thursdays right now! Shiny notes on leg days never hurt if you know what I means!
Our job is going quiet well right now. But poor dh had to bring in nine 400 pound rolls of linoleum yesterday and he had to roll them uphill part way and he was a little under the weather. I felt bad for him! That is one of the only parts of the job that I can not help with. I can lift a lot of weight for my size but when it comes to 6'7" tall rolls of 400 # lino...well I am pretty much useless!

I better go before I get caught up and talk too long!

Have a great day!
Rachel

Hi Everyone!

40/20 for me today - better than last time but I still have a long ways to go... I was able to complete some semblance of everything for the full 40 but it wasn't always pretty! Of course there were a few I did stellar like my beloved straddle taps! I could do those all day! I meant to mention too the other day how I'm feeling my biceps and loving that! So, having lower my weight a little and really focusing on form has pushed deep into DOMS! Nothing makes a girl happier! :D

Rachel, I watched the Canadian skater and balled my eyes out! It was very emotional and I really felt for her. Last night I did get to bed at 11:30 but tonight is more skating so...I'll be up late again tonight! I'm wih you - I'm loving this rotation! This new cardio was really what we needed to shake things up! DH must be bionic to push those rolls! Oh my goodness - that's a crossfit workout!

Kim, we have a couple of local athletes too (incuding Apollo Ono!) and the town really gets behind them! I am so proud for them! And last night watching the Canadian girls take 1 & 2 in the bobsled was awesome! I always wonder how some of these people get started in their sports. I'm thinking about how much fun you're going to have for picking out options and colors and things for your new house! Just think you get to start from scratch!!

Cendrine, what's the back-o-meter today? Hope you're feeling well. DH slept better last night and is taking his arm out of the sling a little more (but not to use it) just able to stretch it some. What's going on in SoCal today? You're back to good weather aren't you?

Okay, got to get in the shower. I'm meeting a GF after work for dinner so am looking forward to seeing her.

Wow this week is not turning out at all like I thought. We have been able to get everything we need to accomplished and still make it out of there at a decent hr. It is going super smooth. ...sigh...why can't all the jobs go like this one.

I am feeling this mornings leg workout already so I am wondering how setting on the toilet is going to be in the morning. That is always a slow decent on the day after legs..lol I am so looking forward to Saturday at about 7:30am cause I should be done with my workout and I am ready for a rest day! I have been trying to push the workouts this week and I am feeling it. Sometimes I find my mind wondering and I am not thinking about the workout itself but this week I and pretty much this whole rotation, I have really been trying to concentrate and I have to agree with Jo in that I really think it is paying off in a whole new way! Love Cathe and her thoughtful rotations!

Jo-I am super impressed that you made it through the whole 40 doing something! That is awesome. I have slept since Monday but I am pretty sure that I did not make it all the way through the second set of the jump, side , turn, tucks...Those absolutely are the hardest for me. About halfway through I am struggling to get to the end of my step and on the second set I am doing good to jump at all! She is one crazy lady. And then everyone else in the video is just moving right along. They make it look so easy.

I think it is great that Kim and Jo, Yall both have hometown hero's in the olympics. That is so exciting!

Kim, and Cendrine...I know yall are busy so I am hollering hello! :D

See yall tomorrow!

Rachel

Busy day for me today, and tomorrow won't be any diffrent...:)

Rachel, I'm so glad your job is going so smoothly! Enjoy it while you have a job that goes so nicely! And I am impressed with you and Jo and Kim for doing the rotation so faithfully! You guys are amazing!

Kim, I'm super happy you got the lot you wanted! I hope you get a nice budget to work with for all the decorating! Does dh pretty much let you decide or will you have to discuss things to find middle ground first?

Jo, my back is doing pretty well, I had more therapy yesterday and that always helps a lot, Plus my chiro, who was out for a month sick was back and she is always more thorough on me than her dh...;) So I got some good work and adjusting done and am feeling the results of it.
Weather was nice today but more rain and thunderstorms are supposed to hit tomorrow. Bring it on I say!

Well, I need to go get some down time, I haven't had a break it seems since getting up this morning, but one last little triumph to share: dd went all day without any potty accidents! YAY! And that includes a trip to the park and the grocery store! Woohoo!

Well, somehow my one day off turned into 3 days off. I ended up in front of the tv watching Olympics the last 2 evenings. I'm not going to worry about it because I really felt like I needed the rest and I never took that full recovery week after meso 1. Today is disc 21 and then I'll go right into the last week of Meso 2.

Rachael I'm so glad that this job is going smooth! How are the legs today?? I really understand about looking forward to that rest day, Not much longer till the recovery week either! What will you do for Meso 3 legs? I think I'm going to do the pylo legs.

Cendrine That is exciting news about your dd!! What a big step! I'm glad your back continues to improve! Actually DH has a great eye for colour and I don't! I will probably choose more style options like type of curtains but have him choose colours for paint.

Jo Congrats on the 40/20!! I really like straddle taps too but don't think I could do them all day!

This morning I'm going to take ds back to the pediatrican to assess how his new asthma meds are doing. He seems like he's doing great so hopefully he can stay on them. Then I'll drop him at school and go for groceries. Then this afternoon will be my workout. Tonight is more Olympic hockey, Canada vs Slovakia. DS's teacher told them they could watch the USA vs Finland game at school this afternoon:rolleyes::rolleyes: Our women's hockey team won Gold last night, beating the USA team 2-0. Some of the USA women were crying from disappointment, it must be hard after training for so long not to get the gold.

Coming up for air! I am watching a friends kids all day and they are getting very comfortable with me, which means the behavior is not as good as usual.... I got them all sitting down coloring right now, so I took the opportunity to come post...

I had a good workout today. Kim, it's nice that your rest need coinsided with the Olympics programs you wanted to watch! Congrats on more wins for Canada! I have to confess though, I think the disappointment factor if you don't take home gold is enough for me not to want to compete with anyone but myself. When you have worked so hard, and then end up not coming in first, or whatever place you hoped you'd come in as, then it would be very disappointing for me. I guess I'm not the competitive type...
I hope you get to bring home good news about ds's evaluation about he new medicine!

Hello Jo and Rachel!

Today was Disc 19 - Chest Shoulders and Triceps! Double wave! Ughh...tough but wonderful! This week I have been "on." Good energy and feeling strong in spite of staying up too late and not getting any sleep!

Figure skating was great last night! The Canadian gal who lost her mother took the Bronze! I was cheering her on! The Korean and Japanese girls were incredible too! Wow, what talent! Then the new up and coming US girl took 4th (she's only 16).

Rachel, glad you job turned out so good! How was your butt on the toilet today? LOL! :p Mind you on the 40/20 I did 40 seconds but not always at Cathe's pace! But today I kicked butt with my strength workout!

Kim, hope it was a good report for ds! It is so worth it to watch the Olympics so I think it's fine you missed a couple of workouts! Besides you probably needed and deserved a the recovery!

Cendrine, good luck with those little ones! Are you dehydrating anything this weekend? Don't forget to give me the almond recipe - I want to make them! I'm thinking about doing a bunch of fruit this weekend.

okay, BBL!

Good Friday evening!

It is a rainy dreary day but it did not bother me one little bit today! It was Friday and all the rain in Seattle couldn't change that:p! Oh I love a good Friday. I do have to admit that we ate at this little country place today and although I ate a really healthy lunch I did have one deep fried apricot slice and a little peach cobbler with ice cream for dessert! It was worth every bite. I am not even fretting about it one iota! lol

I guess you can tell I had a great day and I plan on stretching all this goodness into the weekend. Tomorrow I have some asthetic things to get for the mudroom...nothing major yet just door hardware and maybe start looking at stuff for trimming the windows. We still have a major decision about the outside to make...I always doubt my judgment on those big decisions and then I end up doing alright! Go figure!

Today was the kickboxing with the heavy bag bonus. This time on the heavy bag bonus portion , I held 3# weights. I did not like the way my wrist weights slid up and down my arms. I liked the 3# weight thing. I did have to put them down for the last bit when you go down and come up and jump and then punch . The burn in the shoulders made me keep pushing until the end. I really like the addons that Cathe has done this month.

Kim-Although I am loving all this fun stuff, I too am getting ready for the rest week. Congrats on your Hockey team winning. Since I really do not route for anyone I was routing for them for you! :D I have not looked at the meso 3 rotation yet but I think I am going to check it out and then decide. I want to see how intense the cardio is. If it is really intense, I might opt for the weight version! I am a scaredy cat! That plyo is tough enough without being sandwiched in between some super hard cardio!

Cendrine-You put it so nicely. The children getting comfortable. Instead of saying they were turning into heathens right before your very eyes, which is more how I probably would have put it.:p
There is no one to compete with about anything around here but the only thing I can compare that to is the lottery. I can remember when TX first got the lottery and I bought a ticket and was so disappointed when I did not win:rolleyes:...I mean heartbroken...(this was a long time ago:D)...So I realized that the let down was too much for me and I never bought another ticket! It is such a waste anyway but you would not believe how high my hopes were! haha

Jo-I am so not the athletic type and nothing I do looks anything like what Cathe is doing and I still am not making it to the 40 in some of those darn drills...lol! I think just the exersion of trying your hardest to do it is more than enough for me! So I am still super impressed that you are making it to 40 doing anything and nothing you say will change that:p!

I hope you are all having a day like mine !

See yall tomorrow!

Rachel

Good Morning Everyone!! Happy Saturday!

Oh Rachel you sound like you DID have a great day! It is a rainy Saturday here in Seattle and I got a good laugh over your comment!

I'm off to do MMA Fusion and the CB Cardio only (Yikes!) I actually went to bed at 11 last night. I couldn't stay up until 12.

Oh my gosh, as I'm sitting here drinking my coffee...I just saw an 8.8 earthquake hit Chile. Cendrine, they are issuing Tsunami warnings up the entire west coast incluing all the way up here. WOW!

I've got some cleaning and other errands to do today so better get to my workout!

Well my workout today was really a struggle. I got through the first combo fine of Fusion, but struggled with the second one - and what made it ever harder was I have too thick of a mat. It's about an inch thick and soft so very hard to do some of those moves (I can barely do them anyway!). Then I kind of lost my momentum and didn't finish CB. I think I'm having an "off body" day anyway. Oh well, workouts earlier this week were good so I guess that's okay. The sun is supposed to come out later so I think I'll go hit the trail instead.

Hope you're all having a good day!

Good afternoon all!
Don't worry about it Jo...You are allowed to not be the best all the time...It makes those days that are super energized rock so much more!
I hope you get to the trails and no tsunami's for you or Cendrine!! That is scary stuff!

Well I got to town early but had to take care of taxes first and then it seemed like everything just took forever after that. I did get another window ordered though. We are going to replace the ones on the house but right now with taxes we are taking it a little at a time. So first one was the bigger living room window to get it out of the way! Oh why can't money grow on trees...sigh:D
I didn't even have time to look at door handles and DH was not with me anyhow and I need his artistic eye..You know that whole not trusting my own senses thing!

This morning it was disc 21 , I think, back and bis...And that double wave load on the bi's almost brought tears to my eyes...it was some serious stuff. I had to adjust my weight some on that one but told myself that it is a good thing since I wanted to try to get even close to my reps! Whewww it was tough!!! How did you do on that one, Kim?

Well it is a beautiful day here today and I need to get some house straightening done while I still have the energy and dh is still gone...I love cleaning an empty house!

Cendrine...I hope you are having a great day. Were you affected in any way by the earthquake and warnings?
I can not imagine living in a place with tsunami warnings!

Have a great day and I will try to check in later! It is action movie night...Dh will love that...Bruce Willis in Surrogate. haha

Rachel

I was fully planning on making today a down day in every sense and now it's 2 and I'm only finally sitting down for the first time all day... Oh well...

I heard about the huge earthquake as well, but not about the tsunami warning, it gave me goosebumps. About six years ago a lady at our church told me that there were going to be tsunami type waves covering Orange County, and I was just kind of thinking, well, good thing I don't live straight by the ocean, but then I saw how far the tsunami went inland a few years back flooding so much more than I ever thought possible, those things are nasty!
We had a ton of rain last night and this morning, and the hills are starting to look so nice and green as they only do this time of year. It should stay green longer this year, since it is still raining and it's the end of February.

Ok, so here's a workout question for you guys. I was kind of playing with the idea of maybe doing a cropped version of STS to keep the intensity down some. I was thinking of doing 30min worth of Sts followed by some cardio, or the other way around three times a week and see how my back handles it. What do you think about that? I know I can't handle a full blown sts schedule even with reduced weights, but I really want to have the fun of doing the weights and also shock cardio, so that was one of my scenarios, the other could be to do about 1/2 hr weights sts and 1/2 shock cardio on alternate days to not over tax things. Any of you guys' thoughts are welcome!

Off to get some downtime reading! My friend gave me a series of books on top of the prereading for ds that I was doing....:D

A fairly relaxed day here. Did 30/30 and plates/weights STS abs (which felt hard after doing the back workout yesterday!) Took dd to swimming lessons(but no piano as the teacher is out of town). Babysat my 2 nephews for a couple of hours well dd just played with them so wasn't hard for me then took ds shopping for a spring jacket.

DS did great at the dr's appointment yesterday! His lung capacity was better than 6 weeks ago even on the new medicine!

Cendrine I think the exercise plan is a good idea. Starting with a shorter workout using lighter weights and see how it goes. It's interesting watching the silver and bronze medal winners. Some are so ecstatic to win an Olympic medal and some look angry/disappointed that they didn't get the gold. Probably goes back to their expectations and what they were predicted to win. I think if I won a silver or bronze medal, I would be very happy:D

Jo This double load week along with cardio addon makes you very tired! I found it a hard week! Maybe with the Olympics done next week you'll be able to get more sleep to recover! Will you be watching the gold medal hockey game tomorrow? I saw an interview with the Candian figure skater that won the bronze (who's mother just died), she said that Celine Dion phoned her and sent her flowers:) as she heard that her mom had been a big fan. Both Celine and the figure skater are from Quebec. How sweet of Celine.

Rachael I took 3 days off just before back/biceps double load so it didn't seem so bad:cool: The chest/shoulders/triceps double load is the one that really got me! My triceps were sore for days!

Tomorrow dd and I will pick up my MIL take her to watch ds's hockey game, then out for lunch afterwards we're taking her to see the showhome. Then my mom is having the family over to watch the gold medal hockey game together so should be a busy day! But I will get disc 22 in either early morning or late evening!
