6 month Alumni Sunday checkin 11/1

Hey again,

I didn't feel better all day, I think I just have to sleep it off. So I'm just kind of winding down trying to get to bed early.

Jo, I'm convinced your raw food and juicing is helping you be better off than all your coworkers! Keep it up and I'll keep up my smoothies too!
Yes, MIC is a killer, not one I would usually choose on a day when I don't feel so great.... I'm still glad I did it though...

Rachel, the HIIT workouts are short for a reason! I know I am not going to schedule other workouts on those days.... At least not other cardio, that's for sure! They are probably so tough for me that I will only do one per week of that kind.... (can you tell I prefer the longer, but somewhat easier kind of cardio?...:eek:)
I forgot to answer your question earlier about how long we usually do school around here. If the kids are up and ready to go by 8 am which they have been due to the time change... we usually get done by noon with everything, including seatwork (homework). We might do artsy things in the afternoon that are school related, but academics wise we get done before lunch. Of course dd does not spend all that time doing school, she does a lot of educational toy time and puzzles and things like that while I work with ds. Ds does his seatwork while I work one on one with dd. It has been working like a charm! I'm so glad it is going so smoothly. DS wowed dh and me last night. In Science we have been studying the animals of the rainforests and ds learned a term that I didn't even know until I taught him, it was about the tails of the monkeys that are 'prehensile' (meaning they can use it like hands) . We came across an anelope that supposedly has a prehensile tongue yesterday. So ds is telling dh all about it upstairs while they are playing. I could hardly believe that after just hearing this word twice he would already use it in his own sentences. Kids' minds are such big sponges, I keep realizing that!

I enjoy ME as well, and I agree with you Jo, that the abs segment on that workout is especially good, I always enjoy doing that one.
 
Hello Girls again!

Rachel, the electricity went out! Oh my gosh! How big is your town? I'm so excited about STS cardio. I haven't looked at the descriptions in a while, but I can tell you they'll be really intense. I have the Barry's Bootcamp workouts (1st series) and the cardio on all the workouts are HIIT and about 20-25 minutes and absolutely crazy intense. There's no way I can do more (at least that's the way I remember it, it's been awhile).

Okay, here's what I made tonight:

2 big acorn squash cut into 1/2 inch rings (with skin on) seeds removed
Put them on a couple of cookie sheets (sprayed first with PAM)
Brushed them with olive oil
Sprinkle with sea salt
Cooked for about 20 minutes

Mix:
a couple tblsp pine nuts
10 or so garlic cloves cut in half (so big chunks - smaller if you like)
1 tbsp olive oil

After the 1st 20 minutes, I sprinkled the nut/garlic/oil mixture on the squash and cooked another 15 minutes

This was my first time making this and it was pretty good, but needed a little more sea salt (I was very conservative as we haven't been eating much salt). Also, in the past I always fixed my squash with brown sugar, butter and ginger, so wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was!

Anyway, there you go!
 
Cendrine, boy it does sound like you overdid! Get some good rest! Since MIC was new to you and it is pretty long, your body was going into overdrive! Hope you feel better tomorrow!

Judging by today I don't think I was feeling bad due to MIC yesterday because it's still hovering over me today. But I did SJP circuit #2 and am going about business as usual, just trying to ignore it, I guess...

Jo, your acorn squash concotion sounds delish! I just might have to try that!
 
Oh Cendrine I hope you're not getting sick now! Good job on SJP premix! Such a fun DVD!

Kim, what did you think about TBL last night? I was inspired and want to get in on the MOVEMENT! Overall I thought it was an interesting show. I was starting to feel empathy for Traci and really don't think she's so bad. She's looking good now!

Sorry I was MIA yesterday...although we got home at 6, I felt like I had so much to do I just did not find the time to check in! And since it is almost 7 now:eek: This one will be short.
This morning I did the original bootcamp. I do not think I have ever done that one all the way through. I have only done the fit tv version all the way. It was so much fun and although it was hard I had anticipated worse because I have done just the cardio portion and it kills me everytime. So with the breaks with the weights it made it more heart friendly!

Jo-That squash sounds great. I do not see where you think you are not a creative cook!

Cendrine- It sounds like you have plenty of reason to be proud. It is nice that you can really keep up with their progress and if you ever see a weak point you will be able to concentrate on that!

I did Rhythmic Step today and loved it as usual. Still not feeling great, hopefully my chiropractor visit later today will improve things....


Rachel, I don't think I would consider ever doing only the cardio portion of Bootcamp, I have a hard enough time keeping up with the breaks...LOL! I actually have bootcamp on the calendar for tomorrow's workout. I was going to try a premix, don't know what I'll do yet.

Jo, I did a completely green smoothie today, no fruit at all, so it was more like a liquid salad... it was good, but I think I prefer them sweet...LOL!

Kim, how's it going with Insanity?
 
Evening Guys or Gals:p

Wheeww One more day till Friday and I am ready! I am starting to get tired so I know TTOTM is on its ways. Normally I fall into a routine of getting up in the morning and spring right out of bed but the last couple of days I have been peeling myself out right at 4. I have my alarm set for 3:54 just in case I want a snooze but most of the time I get up right them. These last couple of days I have been snoozing! Oh well. I am still getting my workouts in. When I am going to work I normally can not get more than maybe 70 min but most of the time I go for at least 60. If it is a tough one like drill max I just have to see how I feel. Some days you know you just do not have it in you.

Cebdrine-Way to go on the green smoothie...Look how far you have come. At first, you just added a little green and now you are going al the way. My inspiration!

Jo-I hope you are better!

Kim-How is Insanity going? Are you feeling a difference? Is your DH sticking with it?

I'm back from the Chiropractor and I feel so much better! I hope I keep it that way, I don't know what I do to keep mess up my alignment...

Rachel, good job doing your workouts even when you are feeling tired! I'm glad the weeknd is close, too!

I hope everyone has a great work out today. It was Kick Max for me today. I did the low impact premix since I have been doing a lot of high impact here lately. I still felt really worked good though.
Cathe knows how to do that.

Not too much going on for me this weekend. I got that documentary called Food Inc in from netflix so I am looking forward to that making me not want to eat anything anymore:p So if yall have not seen it I will let you know if it is worth the look!

Cendrine-I hate that you keep tweaking something. I am glad they got you adjusted!

Just want to let you know why I've been MIA. Our computer monitor died so we had no computer for a few days:confused::confused: Amazing how computer dependent we are. I have quite a few emails to catch up on and a busy day. But the weekend is quite so should be able to catch up soon.
 
Hi Everybody!

I did Bootcamp/Muscle endurance premix the bonus combo, or something like that. It was good and I was happy to not have to do all 8 cardio segments from the bootcamp regular one....:eek: I did ME Abs, which reminded me, Rachel, did you like the ME abs?

As soon as I got up this morning I could already feel a headache coming on, so I took something, but it made me wonder if I need a new pillow, usually when I get adjusted, I feel great at least a few days after. Have to look into that.

Ds and I were cramming in a lot of schoolwork today to free up next Monday, because we are going to go to Legoland all day with another homeschool family. I feel rather accomplished, that we have less than half left to do of Monday's work. It's nice when it's done ahead of time vs having to catch up afterwards!

Kim, I'm so sorry about your monitor! We are really computer dependent here too, when the power goes out, we hardly know what to do, of course there is no light for reading either, so that doesn't help matters....LOL!

Hey Jo, I hope you are doing ok, and your trip to the office didn't get you exposed to bugs you didn't need!
 
I have not caught up to those ME abs yet:eek: But I am going to do them! Normally the week before TTOTM I get lazy in the abs. I do not know if it is a pre thing or just a lazy thing. But now that it is here everything will go back to normal. I have one really tired day , the first day, which is today. Then I just get better and better from here on out. So I am going to see how I feel in the morning. I have Drill Max scheduled. I normally do a premix and normally it is all cardio but I thought there was some leg work on there and that is what I wanted to do tomorrow. We will see..I am just going to sleep till I wake up and then I should get a good pep in my step!

Kim-That computer stuff stinks! We, like everyone else I think are also very dependent on the computer. We really just use it for social things but I really enjoy that so I hate when it is not available! You will have to catch us up on your week!

Cendrine-Way to go on the bootcamp and ME premix. I have not had that one too long so I have not really gotten into the premixes yet. I know what you mean though. Sometimes those cardio portions are really tough for me and I have to sike myself up for them. Then still sometimes I am thinking 'how did I ever do this'?
I like being ahead too with anything. That is why this job is great. Right now we are either a little ahead or right on time but it is the least stressful job of the year for me so far!

Ok I think I am going to go visit a pal of mine for about an hr and then come home and pj it up!

Hi Girls! Well this is my last post about being ill....

So yesterday I came home; was feeling worse than I been, then went to bed and slept until 9:00 this morning...then today, voila! I feel normal (for real this time). I have energy but still a raspy voice. So I don't know what this is I have but I've never had anything last so long. Back to working out tomorrow. I'm thinking a light cardio and then Sunday start the November rotation (maybe :cool:)- Rachel are you going to do it?

Cendrine, the green smoothie, liquid salad sounds good to me! I think if you had a beet in it, it would be perfect and it would add that sweet flavor. I haven't done that BC/ME premix in forever so don't remember a lot but I do remember I liked it! Hope the pillow is your headache issue and it's not something else!

Kim, that stinks about the computer! I take mine everywhere! I always think I'm going to go offline, but don't! I do everything online, including reading the news every morning.

Rachel, I'll be interested to hear about the Food, Inc. Also, let me know if you're interested in doing the November rotation with me! Well, any of you for that matter! LOL! Hope you feel great tomorrow! I so love Drill Max!

Okay, I'll be back around tomorrow! I'm so excited to FEEL NORMAL AGAIN! (At least I think I am - normal that is! LOL!)
 
Okay, I'm back online. I'm still sticking to Insanity and DH is doing it with me most days.Tomorrow will be the end of week 2. There are 4 weeks 1 recovery week and 4 more weeks.

Cendrien WTG on finishing MIC, it's such a hard workout. I'm glad that the schoolwork is going so well. No regrets about deciding to homeschool. Hope you figure out what is bothering you.

Jo HOpe you are finally over whatever you had. The November rotation looks like a good one. I thought Tracey looked amazing at the end of the show on Tuesday. I think she just had more of a game playing mentality than most of them this season which didn't go over well.

Rachael It's hard to get a feel for the new STS workouts from the pictures. The Insanity workouts are only 30-40 mins long for the first month and they are enough! You could probably add on abs or a stretch afterwards if you needed more.

Glad to see you are better Jo! I think I need some more dvds for the november rotation but if I have the first week I might go ahead and order tomorrow and then start it on Mon. Let me look and see!

I told yall I was going to sleep in. I got out of bed at 6:22 and I have not worked out yet:eek: But don't worry I am going in there right after this. I thought about taking the weekend off if I was still tired but I feel pretty good so I am going to see how this manifests.
My eyes are really swollen this morning because I went to my friends how last night and every time I go there I get an allergy attack by the end of the night. That is why I was only going to stay for an hr but end up having so much fun I stay longer. She has a lab and a cat and they love to be loved and I love to love them so I really do it to myself. I get the same way around my pets too but I think it is really concentrated at her house for some reason. Normally it affects me around shedding time with my animals! Oh well it was worth it. I will just look like I cried all night:D:p:rolleyes:

OK I am off to hopefully whip some drill max. Right now I feel pretty energized, surprisingly, so I will let you know how I fared!

Kim-We must have been posting at the same time earlier. It must be so much fun to work out with your DH. I try to get mine to work out with me but there is no way he is getting up at 4. He is a night owl and I am such a morning person. It is weird because I used to be a night owl too. You could not get me up in the morning and now I am depressed if I sleep too late because I feel like my day is almost over.:rolleyes:

OK I did a little research on the November rotation and I need a lot of the dvds but I am really thinking about ordering them! Here is what I need and how I am rationalizing getting them so close to getting the sts cardio:p

Max Intensity Cardio
Imax 3

When I started rounding up all the pricing for these I noticed that I would get so many other workouts with these. Some of them I have been curious about for a long time and have seen repeated on several rotations. I hate subbing in for a rotation because I feel like I am not completing it as Cathe planned it and therefore I feel like I have cheated my self in some way. I know that is really insane but I can't help it!
Ok so the total is 256.94 but I have also always wanted Low Max too. I have heard yall rave about it and every one else rave about it and I have done a version off of fit tv and liked that but did not feel like I have gotten the full hit of it. So with that the total is 283.93. Well I have not ordered the calendar yet and I did not get one last year because I missed it so I have to get it too, so that is about 300. dollars. But this is how I am rationalizing it. Without the calendar each actual work out that I would get averages out at about 16 dollars a workout. That is a steal if you ask me. And like Cendrine always says, I am not paying for a gym membership so I am saving money that way!!! OK I think I am going to order tomorrow because I want to see if any of these dvds show up on the featured video. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
So Jo, If I do order tomorrow that puts me about a week out on starting the November rotation too. I would also have to sub something for the running and cycling because I do not have my TM anymore and don't have access to a cycle. But I am ok with that. Besides I would have all those other work outs to sub in for that!:eek:

So what do yall think.
I think since we are not starting sts cardio rotation until at least Jan. if it comes in. It could not hurt to have something until then. Besides I really need to bulk up my Cathe supply , right?;)

As you can tell I do not need much talkin in to...but a little wouldn't hurt!:p

Rachel, I'm not sure but you are supposed to get a coupon code for ordering the calendar. I don't know if you can use the code on the actual order with the calendar, if not I suggest you order the calendar and then do a separate order to take advantage of the coupon code, with your order total, it will be way worth it! Any yes, just get them! They are fun and you will love all the extras you are getting! 16.- a workout is a good deal! It may be even less with the coupon, if it works! LOL! I'll have to check out the november rotation, to see if I'll join you guys. Low Max is definitely a great one to get, I was supposed to do that one today.... and didn't lOL!

I took a day off workouts today not because I didn't feel like it but because I needed some time to do other things. I prepped a raw chard salad so it can marinate in the fridge for dinner (it's yummy), made some homemade tortilla chips with Ezekiel sprouted tortillas in my broiler, made a big batch of really healthy cookies with lots of nuts and dried fruits in them and a new recpe Kiwi green smoothie which turned out delish.... I feel quite accomplished, and now I get to go meet a good friend for breakfast!

Jo, I'm so glad you are well again! We missed you!

Kim, glad your computer is working again and impressed to know that you are sticking with the Insanity! You are a champion in my book for that!

RACHEL!!! - like Cendrine said. Whatever you do...order the calendar first and get the 20% coupon. Then go order the rest (I think it was 20% - maybe 10.) Order, order order!

I'm off to work out...I slept a good long time again so am getting a late start. I think I'm going to do Step and Intervals or LIS.

Rachel, if you decide not to order, I'll help you with what to substitute!
