Wow I was sure someone would have already started this.

Well I drank one glass of wine too many last night at the concert and thought that I was going to throw up all the way home(about and hr drive) I think it was because I did not eat properly yesterday. We had a late lunch and the made me not eat when I needed to and I did not remember a snack so there you have it. I woke just feeling a little tired but none the worse for wear.

So now I am trying to plan the meals we will be having at the cabin. This is normally not that tough of a task but we have a couple of friends coming with us and I want to make sure everything is just right. I am so anal that way!

Cendrine-How did I miss all that information about you? That is so interesting. Did I also miss what you were interpreting for, for your now dh? So you and my dh grew up neighbors. He was born in Tromso Norway and lived there off and on until he was about 15 and then moved to the States permanently. I, on the other hand, have pretty much lived in one town all of my life. A small one at that! But he is ever so slowly broadening my horizons.

you are right about the tickets being so darn expensive. We were lucky the last time we went over seas (Croatia). Dh's dad traveled alot for business to Bahrain (oil industry) and so he racked up thousands of frequent flier miles so we were able to fly for free, business class too. Now that he is retired we will not be able to do that again. But we were so fortunate for that opportunity.
Did you also mention how you all ended up in southern Cal.? I keep forgetting to ask you if the wild fires are effecting yall?

Hi Rachel,

I'm sorry you felt so bad on the way home from the concert, but I'm glad you feel better now!

I am just like you, when I know I have company, mealplanning becomes a much more involved project, usually I end up cooking a lot of things I've never done before, too, so there is the stress factor of wheter it really is as good as it sounds.... Let me know your menu, I'm always interested in stuff like that!
As far as menus go here for the week, I have skipped grocery shopping this week, except for the mandatory milk and am trying to feed us off of pantry and freezer items. I decided it is time to thin out a bit before adding more...LOL! It's amazing how stuff just accumulates... I found whole wheat pie shells and bought them just because I never saw them anywhere else, so I think we will be having some kind of pie this week at some point...

Here's a little more background info to explain how I ended up an interpreter. In Switzerland, highschool is done at age 16, I opted to go spend a year in England as an Au-pair before starting College because I wanted to be fluent in English. I was picking up the stuff pretty fast, after only having taken English in highschool for 2 years I quickly started dreaming in English after 3 months of staying there...LOL! I was so comfortable with the language and did most of my thinking in it too. It was clear to me that this was a passion of mine and I felt that I was supposed to share my gift once back home with others. The church I attended back there was very open to minority groups and so we had a lot of refugees attending, some of them french speaking, some of them English speaking. Traslation of services was provided for both language groups. I joined the team as soon as I got back and really loved doing it. Then a team of people from Anaheim, California, came to our church to teach on prayer counselling and I was asked to translate. Well, it turned out that DH was one of the people who came for teaching and I ended up being assigned to translate for him. And that is how we met. By that time dh was already in California for his job, and just after we met he bought a house here, and it only seemed to make sense to settle here. dh's parents are getting older and don't want to do their property management in Seatlle much longer. So at some point dh might take that over, but it is something he could do remotely, I am not looking forward to adapting to the colder and more wet climate after getting entirely spoiled here. Of course as you pointed out, we also get the fires every year.... That is not so fun. Last year the fires got so close we had to leave, our house was all smoky on the inside and we could not breathe well. But we were very fortunate. This year the fires are much farther away from our area, I guess there is nothing left to burn up around here from last year's blaze.
Well, enough from me for now. Except, I just remembered, I used to have a penpal from Norway, and she came and visited me once. Her English was very good. I also have a good friend I met in England from Sweden. I visited her in Sweden, gorgeous country! I'm sure norway is similar.

Hello my girlfriends!!! I just got home a little bit ago from my mom's. Vacation is OVER and I must bring myself to go to WORK tomorrow! (What's that?)

I have missed your fun conversation and I see I have a lot of catching up to do! But right now...I need to figure out what I'm going to do for a workout tomorrow! Though I have not been inactive these last couple of weeks, I am looking forward to getting back to some sort of structured routine or rotation.

So hello...I'm back...and I can't wait to get chatting with you girls again!
