Good morning,

I went to bed and about 11:00pm and just got up. 10-11 hours of sleep and I needed all of it. I do feel better.

Back later with wo.

HI ladies!
I am on a Firm kick. Yesterday I worked out with Allie Max Cardio burn and today with Christie Complete Body Sculpting. It's so good to be working out again! :D

Hi, Ladies!

I took a rest day today. I have a huge book review due, and I worked on it all day. Probably all day tomorrow as well. It's active rest week, anyway, so guess that's okay. Gonna try to squeeze in a walk tomorrow, sometimes a walk improves my ability to focus. I need all the help I can get, too.

Jann, I really loved Hypertrophy. I like the drop sets and tri-sets. Anyway, I think after I finish Strength & the active rest week I am sure will follow that, I might pick up some of my old Firms, too. Always loved them. It's like meeting an old friend, isn't it? :D

Ladies, I hope you all have a great evening!

Magnolia

Good evening all,

It's a boy! Today was the ultrasound for dil. Dh took Elliot to doctor's appt so she could see baby. Her only response when told it would be a boy was that they were wrong. She wants a sister.

Monday and Tuesday I will be at a tax seminar in Illinois. The 1 hour trip took over 2 hours coming home because of the rain caused accidents. At least it wasn't me. Since I didn't get home until 7pm probably no wo tonight.

Jann glad you're able to wo. I hope to get back in the swing of things Wednesday.

Joan

Hi...I'm Linda and 54 years old and love to exercise. Can I join you guys? I'm currently on the FIRM kick for this month. Planning on doing STS when Cardio Shock comes out.

Hi, everybody!

Hi, Linda, and welcome. It's always great to meet new people. My real name is Teresa, but everybody calls me Magnolia, in the forums and everywhere else. I'm from Georgia, but live in NY for the time being. Just turned 60 this year, and I'm determined to stay strong for as long as I can.

Haven't gotten my walk in today, but it's nice (and a tad cool) out there, so there's still hope.

Have a great evening!

Magnolia

Welcome Linda

That's funny about Elliot -- kids. :D

Magnolia - Teresa :D It does feel like working out with old friends. It was funny while doing ABS w/Allie I fell right back into it.

Rest day today only because life got in the way. Back to it tomorrow. :)

Hi everyone,

Welcome Linda. I'm 58 -59 in January. I'm a CPA in St. Peters, MO.
I just need to get back doing something.

Baby boy is due April 10, so Elliot will probably be convinced that he is a boy by then. I think it has to do with Sesame Street's The Three Bears have a new baby. It was a girl- Curley Bear.

When I was losing weight last time I watched calories and walked on treadmill. Tomorrow I am getting right back at exercise and diet and tonight ds started to use treadmill and it went crazy. First it wouldn't work and then it jerked to a fast start. Back to the drawing board.

Hi ladies,

I'm going to try a shorter premix while Elliot is napping. That's probably better than me taking a nap.

Back again,

The phone started ringing as soon as I put dvd in the machine. Since it was my business line I had to answer.

I just finished low impact step. I kept calories to 1200 today because I know Thanksgiving is coming.

They are coming to fix treadmill next Wednesday.

Hi everyone!

A little bit about me...as I mentioned I'm 54, I have a daughter (she got married last April and also graduated with a master degree last May). Last February I "retired" from my position as a manager in a web application development group (made that decision when I realized no more tuition payments). I currently work very part-time as a dog-walker and pet sitter (I love animals...have 3 cats and a yorkie). I occationally take a ballet class (love to dance...have absolutely no talent). I started taking ballet classes when my daughter was training in ballet (she eventually became a professional ballet dancer for about a year). I did this for about 16 years and use to take up to 4 classes a week. But my job got in the way and I could only take one class a week. As a result I put on weight. Almost 2 years ago I started my phyical fittness journey...lost 24 pounds (would like to lose ten more pounds) but happy where I'm at. Exercise was the ticket for me...I cannot not lose weight on diet alone. I started doing FIRM dvds and eventually discovered Cathe...the rest is history.

Maintaining the weight loss is hard work. My eating has not been good since Holloween came and went. After eating some candy, my healthy eating went downhill. It seems once I get sugar in my system I can't stop craving unhealthy carbs. Journaling my food intake is my best method of controlling this problem, but I'm lazy about this at the moment. Thank goodness I exercise, although I have woken up some mornings not wanting to exercise. Which is why I'm doing a FIRM rotation this month...I love AWT and workouts that have a lot of choreography....this creates the fun factor for me and motivates me to exercise.

Anyway....I normally do not write this much. Thanks for welcoming me.

Linda

Linda - I want a yorkie so badly. What type do you have? I am also retired from the IT world. I used to install and train hardware/software for an IBM business partner. I gained a lot of weight from eating late nights or what ever I could grab and no exercise. Always on the road. I am still working at getting it off. I did manage to lose 40 pounds and would like to lose more. My body seems to like this weight -- I on the other hand do not. Welcome!

Joan I love my treadmill I would be so lost with out it!

Yesterday was a lot of walking and I had to get the fall clean up done in my yard. I am 4 weeks behind in getting things done and now I am playing catch up.

This morning I did Cathe's high step circuit. It's the easiest of her high step workouts. I really enjoy it. I don't use the band I use an 8 pound weight that seems to work better for me.
Have a good one ladies!!

I can now officially join this group!

Hello everyone -

I am now 50 (can't believe it, how did that happen??), so I would like to join this Group. It' s heartening to me to have others my age still kicking butt with Cathe!! I am now is a STS Rotation and loving it. I have been doing Cathe since I was a young gal of 40 :)

Good evening, everyone!

Joan, you and your job and me and my book review. I have not gotten in a walk all week because I just wanted to finish this paper. So now it's finished and on the way to my prof's desk.

Jann, I have that high step workout. I like that one, too.

Linda, my DH and I really love dogs! We lost our sweet girl about 10 years ago, she was about 15. It was awful! I still miss her. We have been doing a lot of traveling, and thought it would be unkind to get another one at the moment. We both want another one, thought. I hope soon. We have a nice back yard and a lot of love to give.

Lily, you are just a young 'un! I am 60 and I just finished STS mesocycle 2. This is my active rest week. STS kicks butt, doesn't it? Anyway, welcome. It's always nice to meet another new friend.

I am so tired, I think I am going to bed now! Have a very pleasant night, all of you!

Welcome Lily and Hi to everyone else,

It's so nice to have a lot of ladies in the group. Life gets in the way and not everyone can join in every day. Hopefully there is always someone checking in. I have been awol a lot lately. I babysit my 2 3/4 year old grandaughter Elliot from April 15-December 31 . I am a self-employed CPA who is busiest during tax season and only work in the evenings when I have Elliot. My 83 year old mother lives with dh and myself. Since August she has had two surgeries for breast cancer and dozens of doctor's appts.
This Wed she started radiation that is everyday (except weekends) until December 30.

I had worked out with a trainer for three years and got into pretty good shape but had to quit when I started babysitting for Elliot. I gained 20lbs from Nov-Dec of the year before Elliot was born. I normally would have lost that weight in January of the next year. But Elliot was my excuse to not exercise. It has been almost exactly a year since I started back with diet and exercise. I lost about 10lbs but stress eating has caused about a six pound gain in the last few weeks.

Wednesday was my return to good behavior. On Wed. I did Low Impact Circuit. Ate 1168 calories for the day and used 1779 calories. On Thur. I did premix 1 of Low Max and ate 1200 calories for the day. I haven't checked calories used but it was more than 1800.

I have found that this group keeps me accountable. I may stray but I get back into the exercising groove faster than if I tried to do it by myself.

Welcome Lily

I have been doing Cathe workouts for 6 years now. I started when I was 47

Joan your numbers are close to what I have to do to lose weight. I have to stay close to 1200 calories in!! As much as I try I can't seem to get my metabolism to boost!

Magnolia glad to hear that paper is done! Now, on with walking. :D

I want to go see the movie New Moon today. How silly am I? I love reading the twilight series. I am going to make myself wait until the craziness is over a bit.

My workout today will be a AWT workout of some sort. I don't have it picked out yet.... hmmmm. Will let you all know. I am getting a late start this morning.

Hi, everyone!

I'm glad I turned that big paper in, but I have one more class and a shorter position paper, then I'm finished with the course.

DH was in an auto accident yesterday as he was heading to his first stop. He's fine, just a bruised finger, thanks be to God, but the car is in a body shop as I am writing this. It was a three car accident, and the other two people were in small cars and had to be taken to the hospital in ambulances. :( He doesn't know what happened, he was in the process of making a left turn and someone plowed into the right side of the car. So its been an edgy day. I have a little time, so I'm making some mac & cheese for him tonight (an Eating Well recipe we like--it has spinach in it, too). I just feel bad for him, but so relieved that he's okay! :)

I had class today and a trip to the grocery store, so it has been busy. But it turned out to be a beautiful fall day, so I just had to squeeze in a walk. I did a little over a mile of Joanie Greggains' "Pace Walk." I had forgotten how much I love to walk is at this time of the year, with the beautiful leaves still on some of the trees, and that nice taste of crispness in the air. I had a wonderful walk, just wish I could have done my usual 4 miles. I decided to make time to walk more often.

Hope all of you have a great evening.

Magnolia

I am still trying to figure out your smilies Jann. I can not believe I am stumped by the smilies.

Welcome to Linda and Lily! I am 53 and like everyone else on this board, been an avid exerciser most of my life. I am on my third trip through STS and it just keeps getting better. I have had remarkable results from the weights- it is a slow and steady process but the middleaged fat has been replace by lean muscles. In between meso cycles I still do the other tapes, but I really like the straight forward approach of the sts program. I can not wait for the cardio to come out. I also do pilates and that has made a huge difference on the waistline.

This group has been such a source of encouragement. Everytime I need a boost there is always someone with a good attitude!

Well, this week was weird. My 22 year old ds decided that he wanted to get in shape and asked if he could go to the gym with me- so I printed out the week (meso 2 wk 1) and we worked out at the gym. He confided that he had always been nervous about going to the gym because he didn't know what he was doing and felt like everyone knew it. So, by the end of the week, I could see that he was getting into it and relaxing somewhat. Having the program printed out gave us a guideline and broke it up a little from the tapes at home. And, I am sore!!!

Well, have a good evening! Beth

Hi ladies,

Beth I love the story about your son. I think boys are more insecure than girls. I think meso 2 and 3 are easier to follow at the gym than meso 1.

Cathy Don't apologize. We all have had those weeks we can't post. I think it's great you got your workouts in.

Magnolia I'm glad dh is ok. Enjoy those walks. All our leaves are gone. Today was beautiful but it's the first all week. A ton of rain, I'm sick of it.

Jann I can't get into nutrition site but I know it's more than 1200. I can lose painfully slow at 1500 calories but I would like to get down to where I was a little faster.

Lily Are you in the straight STS rotation or one of the later Cathe rotations with STS?

Linda I give up what is AWT?

No wo yet. I fell asleep at 7pm and woke up at midnight. I'm still tired but not sleepy. I can't decide if I want to do anything or go back to bed.
