Good Morning,

Only thing scheduled today is abs, I really do plan to do them.

Just getting us started. I'll be back later.

Joan

Back again,

I just finished pilates abs. It feels strange to say that I was happy when I printed this weeks wo cards. I have not gotten past disc 8 before and this time I will. It seems odd that my free week will be the first week of June when I don't have Elliot.

I would like to do disc 7 tonight because I have so much to do tomorrow, but that probably won't happen.

Hope you had a good weekend.

Joan

Hi girls!
I ended up taking yesterday as a rest day also. Some weeks are just like that. Feeling strong this morning and ready to do disk 7! I hear there are a lot of push ups in this one.

Joan - I am sorry about that car. I hope you were able to get it fixed.
Magnolia - I have found if you print your workout card you will know what weights, equipment you will need that day. I agree it's not any more equipment than any of Cathe's other weight workouts.
Tricia How did your weekend go? Ready for disk 7 today?

Good morning, Everyone!

Well, I did Lean Circuit 1 this morning. YOW!!!! It's a really tough workout, and I am evidently having a weak day. I had to back off on weights and reps! I have been battling a sinus infection since last week, maybe that's part of the problem. Also, last week was crazy, and I didn't eat as I should have (probably not quite enough protein). Just makes me determined to eat better and push harder next time.

Joan, I love your determination! It's very inspiring. Keep up the good work!

Jann, I am leaning toward STS, just want to see where CLX takes me for now. After this morning, I think I need to concentrate on the Lean Phase. I am considering starting CLX over after finishing this phase, but with heavier weights.

Hi, there, Tricia and Beth! Hope you each had a great weekend.

Y'All have a great day!

Magnolia

Just finished disk 7 my arms are lead. I think my 65% is too heavy or something. I am in pain and I just finished. I did well, I did my best with ball abs. My arms hurt so badly I could hardly lift a 6 pound ball to do the abs. I added the pilates abs on also since I didn't do them yesterday. They were good. I have to go do yard work now, I hope I can hold onto the mower......:p

Hello, everyone!

Sorry I disappeared this weekend, I just didn't have energy for my workouts Friday or Saturday. So, yesterday I did Pilates Abs and really felt those. I figured out that since we were all sick last weekend, I'd never really picked back up on my meals. Therefore; I had no energy for my workouts - Duh! Why didn't I realize that sooner...... Oh well, I'm going to do either Disc 6 today or Disc 7. I really don't want to skip any, so I'm trying to figure a way to incorporate both into this weeks workouts. Any suggestions??

I'm glad to hear everyone else is doing well. Jann, I don't blame you for taking that rest day - I'm right with you on that. Gotta listen to what our body is saying!!

Back later, I hope!!

Hey, I'm back - I went with Disc 6 today. I just don't want to skip any STS workouts, or it would bother me - like I didn't do the entire program or something. I'm reworking my week to get back on "schedule" by next Monday. Here's what I decided to do:
Tues: AM - STS Ab Circuits Med Ball PM -StS #7, and IMAX Intervals 6-10, if time permits.
WED: STS #9 (Legs)
Thurs: KickMax (BTW - What was she thinkin', putting these on consecutive days??)
Fri: STS # 8 (Back & Triceps) + STS Ab Circuits, Wts. and Plates
Sat: 4DS Boot Camp Cardio + Cardio Quick FIx. (Anyone know which disc this premix is on?)

I seem to remember reading somewhere that if you needed to do STS on consecutive days, to put Legs in between the arm workouts. So this is what I'm going to be putting on the schedule for this week....Wish Me Luck!!

Hi Tricia it looks like you have a tough week ahead of you. :D Cardio quick fix is a routine Cathe put together it's not a DVD here it is:
Option 4….CARDIO QUICK FIX….20 minutes in length (perfect as is or can be added on to another cardio workout)

……..1 minute Jumping Jacks
……..1 minute of stair climbing in house (if no steps, do steps ups, 20 per leg on a 12 inch step height)
……..1 minute jump rope (don’t have to use a rope but do the movement as such)
……..1 minute jog or shuffle in place while arms pump up and down
………1 minute front/back kicks (30 seconds the right leg kicks front and left leg kicks back then switch legs for the remaining 30 seconds)

Repeat all 5 of these one minute activities for a total of 4 times to equal 20 minutes.

 Good luck!

After Arnica, ice and heat yesterday I can move my shoulders/arms today - :D. I actually feel better now than right after my workout yesterday - yay!
Imax on tap for today.

Have a good one girls!

Hi everyone,

I tried to post yesterday late but site was being worked on.

Official weigh in Monday-170lbs. Up 2 1/2 lbs. I tracked calories in and out all week and I used more than I ate. No idea why the gain.

Disc 7 today for me and I might try Imax and abs. I had so many errands yesterday I was just too tired to do anything yesterday. (It might have been the weight gain also)

Tricia I plan to get back on track also. If I start missing wo it seems to give me the excuse to quit. I may just use Monday as rest day and do as scheduled just one day later if doubling up doesn't work.

Jann thanks for the warning I may take advil before wo.

Magnolia Hope sinus infection clears up soon. I've had to back off on weight . I was surprised that the next week I was still able to lift heavier so I guess just working out at all is good.

Back later with wo.

Joan

Good Morning, Ladies!

Jann, thanks for the breakdown on Cardio QF - it sounds intense! So - you did Disc 7 yesterday, right? I'm wondering how bad was the hot & sweaty factor? (I ask because sometimes when I do weights, I don't really get all gross and sweaty - and I have to do part of my workout this morning before I go get my hair done!) If I'm going to workout, I'd like to keep the yuck factor to a minimum, ya know? Otherwise, I'll just wait until I get back and do what I can....

Thanks for your input, and Hi there to Joan and Magnolia! I'll be back later to check in with what I got done!!

Hi Beth, Magnolia, Tricia and Jann,

I ended up with medicine ball abs(6lbs) and Imax. To get to 2400 calories burned I also did 3 miles on treadmill and mile around block with Elliot.

To catch up I will do disc 7 on Wed, disc 8 on Friday and disc 9 on Sunday.

I think the base calories I put in gwf is too high. At rest I think I burn less than the 1400 calories a day. I usually only wear armband when walking or active. It estimates 1400 calories a day for minutes I don't wear band.

Average daily calories used sts rotation + cardio as written is 1800-2200 calories per day. I'm going to try to get that up to 2400 calories per day because I don't want to eat less.
Joan

I am sorry Tricia, yesterday turned into "one of those days". I tend to sweat a lot. But, I do find that weights works not as much. --- sorry :(--- I hope you were able to get disc 7 in!

I did disc 8 today. I like back and tris they seem to be easier for me. :) Yesterday I got through the warm up of Imax got a phone call that lasted 2 hours soooo. I ended up doing Yardmax. :D

Joan I think your plan to adjust your numbers is a good one. I think I have had to adjust my numbers too. I am not losing any weight. My numbers are good most days. I need to push harder - - and make some adjustments.

Good morning, Everyone!

Did Lean Circuit 2 today. Really tough workout. I had to lighten up a lot, because my shoulders are my weakest part, particularly my left arthritis-ridden one. But I keep thinking that even if I use lower weights, with good form I can strengthen my shoulders and make the pain maybe a little less. It has been tough this week, since I am still fighting sinus infection (which seems to be slowly going away.) Anyway, the weather here is supposed to be beautiful enough to walk tomorrow, so I may opt for that.

Tricia, I know what you mean about trying to avoid the sweaty workouts when you have somewhere to be. I have no advice. I tend to sweat a lot whenever I work out (except a yoga workout), so I always have to manage a shower when I have finished. Ideally, I work out early in the morning, but sometimes that is a trick, too, and I would think especially so if you have small children.

Jann, Joan & Beth, hope you are well. Have a great day.

Magnolia

Hi Everyone!

I just read all your posts and am glad that you are hanging in there with the sts.
I have been missing in action with my son's graduation and the I caught a nasty cold virus that wiped me out.

One more wo to have finished the entire 3 months!! I am going to measure and give results but I do know that I have lost at least 6-7 pounds and fat deposits around the bra line and back are gone--- The last meso cycle- where you use really heavy weights and few reps was when it all started sliding off.

I can not wait to start over again. The only advice I have is really push yourself on the weights, in a safe way of course so you don't get injured. What I realized was how long I have been doing the interval type workouts with not enough weight to see any difference. Also, I am kind of irritated at the money I have spent on trainers in the past, and not one of them actually designed a program for me. If they had, I might have seen results.

Right now I have a friend that wants to do this together so we are trying to figure a way to have Cathe come to the gym with us- I wish she would figure out the ipod thing.

Anyway, glad you all are still there. Jann and Joan- this board would fall apart if you guys weren't so good about posting!!!

Good afternoon,

I seem to be on a strange schedule this week - feels like I get to post my workouts every other day. Well, I did do STS #7 yesterday but waited until after my hair appointment! (BTW - my hair does look fabulous, if I do say so myself!! I got color with highlights and cut, and I always feel so much better when I get it done.)

Then today, I decided to do Kickmax, even though I was going to do STS #9. I just wanted to get in a cardio day instead of three straight days of STS weights. Plus, I had to take another day before I tackled legs again. I'll be doing #8 tomorrow, then #9 on Friday. So, I'll be back on track....Unless we go away for Memorial Day at the last minute!!

The sweaty head issue is hit or miss with me, too. Jann, I understand completely - the day can just go by so fast, can't it? With STS I'm just going to assume that sweat is inevitable!!

Hope you all have a great afternoon, I'll See ya tomorrow!!

Good evening Jann, Beth, Magnolia and Tricia,

Beth I can't wait to hear results. I also had trainer for three years and never went over a 12lb dumbbell. We did many of the same exercises but never really saw fantastic results. That may have been my fault for not eating well. The only time we went heavier was with the squat rack. I bought the whole set of Cathe's dvds about two years ago for less than I paid for two-three months worth of training.

Tricia I know what you mean about a good haircut. With me it is haircolor, I must not look in the mirror enough. I always wait too long before coloring my hair but when I do I feel so much better.

Magnolia I don't know what it is about sts but so far but I haven't had any trouble with my shoulder. The right shoulder (and of course my knees) is where I usually have problems. That may happen in meso 2 or 3 with higher weights.

Jann when I was losing weight I averaged 1550 calories eaten with slow cardio 5-6 days a week. I have no idea how many calories I burned then but if 1/2 lb per week is a deficit of 1750 calories that is 250 calories a day and maybe 1300 calories is what I need to stay even at that exercise level. I can't even guess how little I burn without exercise. If you wear the armband 23 hours do you think it is more accurate or does it use your numbers as a guideline? My lifting is at correct weights at this time but I do need to up the intensity of the cardio.

This looks to be a bad eating week. Heaven only knows how much I'll gain with eating out this week. (My brother is visiting) I was very good last week and gained. I just don't want to get back to my start weight of 173lbs.

Good Morning,

Magnolia Lean is where I have read a lot of gals started to see a difference. Can’t wait to hear how it works for you. Good job staying on track! :)

Beth Thanks for the tips. Congrats on the weight loss! I have that pesky bra deposit and would love to lose it!

I am looking forward to the Blender and ipod upgrades too! That is one of the reasons I purchased a year of the Nutrition Software. Discounted blender subscriptions and free upgrades…. It will be a year in July and still nothing. I am still hoping they do something for us pioneers.

Tricia LOL yes STS = sweat. You should post a picture of your new do. (do people still say that?)

Joan I am not losing at all right now. I am exactly the same weight I started. I did drop 1 pound and managed to put that back on last week. It seems if I go one day over calories I can go back up after a week of on track. I really need to get this under control! I am going to try to take a few minutes and play around with the numbers.

I did disc 9 today. I needed to get it in. DH mentioned he may take tomorrow off and I am not sure what that means… Disc 9 was not as bad as last weeks legs. I am not feeling nearly as sore. I am hoping my body is just getting stronger. :D
Have a good one ladies!

Good afternoon, everyone!

I had to take the day off today--I was cantor at a 9 am mass at my church, then some friends of mine and I went out to brunch. After that, it was grocery store, and now I'm beat. I have a rehearsal tonight, and there is a lot of work to do here. So I'll just get back on track in the morning with Lean Circuit 3.

Beth and Joan, I know what you mean about those circuit workouts that don't use weights any heavier than 12 lbs. I was doing those for a long time, and I reached a plateau. Instead of trying heavier weights, I tried every diet I could and even went to the doctor about it. If I had thought about switching things around and getting past 12 lb. dumb bells, maybe things would have been different. Anyway, I know better now! I also know what you mean about Cathe's iPod workouts--I have been waiting for those.

Joan, yet another good reason for me to invest in STS! I just would like to see how much stronger I can get on the current program first.

Jann, I do like the Lean Phase. It's a lot tougher, though. Chalene is doing a break down set after each set of reps in this phase. My shoulders and upper body are all sore, but it's that kind of sore that we like to have because it means we're getting there.

Tricia, you just reminded me that it's time to make a hair appointment.

Have a great afternoon!

Magnolia

Good Evening,

I had to babysit until 8:30 tonight and didn't do any wo. I will look at calendar tomorrow to see how to catch up.

My brother goes home tomorrow. At least there won't be any more eating out.

Next week is last with Elliot until middle of August. I should have a lot more time and no excuses.
