50 and over week of July 12

Hi, Y'all!

I took a "rest" day today. I always set Thursdays up as either cardio or rest. It comes almost in the middle of the work out week for me, so I just give myself an option. Anyway, I had class today and we needed food, etc., so I just plunged into the fray early and got things done. Tomorrow is a different story--Burn Circuit 3. Next week is my cardio week.

Tricia, the things I love about Cathe include her personality on the videos. She's upbeat and clever. And her workouts are safe--excellent form is given for all the moves. She is the only video instructor I can remember who actually shows moves for strengthening the rotator cuff (I learned this when my osteo-arthritis started--right in the same area as my left rotator cuff. It fooled the doctors, they thought I had an injured cuff). Anyway, she's had my attention ever since!

Jann, hope your DH is much better--I'll remember you both in my prayers.

Joan, Beth and Cathy, hope your day was great and that you have a great one tomorrow, too.

Hi, all -

I don't think I came back yesterday to log in my workout. I did the LIC Premix #1 plus Ab Circuits Yoga Based Abs. I must be getting too used to one riser per side, because having two on yesterday seemed so much harder! Does anyone else notice that? Maybe I need to revisit some higher intensity, or just lower the darn step! I seem to spend more time trying not to trip over the higher step, taking away from the cardio factor.....And abs was ok, but just felt like moving through the motions somehow. Oh, well. You have days like that, right? Can't worry about it, just move on to the next day. Today is Disc #27. I can guarantee I'll be swapping out PowerMax for something else tomorrow - any suggestions?

Sorry to hop on and run, but I've got to read and catch up so maybe later I'll remember to log in todays workout and chat.....

BBL,

Joan I wish I could find a diet plan I could stick to. This summer has been such a hit and miss with me. Please let us know how this works for you. I've not been very good at researching diet plans.

Tricia yes, this happens!:) It depends on the step workout but, I do like to do an easier step routine with a higher step and a harder routine keep it on a lower step. If I try a harder step routine on a high step I don't burn as many calories because I can't "let it go". ;) Instead of power max maybe some type of HI/LO routine I think step, jump, and pump has a Hi/Lo premix or kick routine?

Magnolia thanks for the prayers. He is feeling better today. He is still coughing like crazy though. Ditto on Cathe. Her personality really comes through on her workouts. Some other instructors I've done I feel like they are just doing because they can -- not because they really want to.

Hey Beth!

Meso 3 disc 27 bis, tris and shoulders done today. I am really feeling it too! Near the end of the biceps one arm curls I had to use my other hand to help get that weight up.

Hey there, Jann, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who was assisting on those final concentration curls for biceps. Both arms, had to do two assisted ones. I'm glad to have that one done. I tweaked my thumb yesterday opening a bottle with a lid that was stuck (or did DH tighten it up too much?). So I am glad to have weights done for a few days, so it can rest.

I'm glad to hear your DH is feeling better, that cough is always the last to go around here.

As for tomorrow's workout, I've decided to look through my sticker sheets and pick something that I have not done very frequently. Is there a strictly cardio on the Viper DVD? I'm going to check it out - to be continued......

Hi, Y'all!

Tricia, I have had that same problem when raising the step height for a workout I've been doing a while, and I agree with Jann. Those two inches can really make a difference! In my case, sometimes if I know the workout well, I can add the risers gradually over several workouts. I seem to handle it better that way.

Jann, glad to hear your DH is better.

I've lost two lbs. since Monday! I'm hoping to do as well this coming week of cardio. I did Burn Circuit 3 this morning, and it was pretty intense, but I think I recovered a little faster than I have since I re-started CLX. Anyway, I'm planning Basic Step tomorrow, since it's uncomplicated and short on what promises to be a very busy day.

Joan, Beth and Cathy, I hope you are all doing great.

Have a great night!

Hi ladies,

I didn't start LIC until 2 am. Decided I wanted a new wo time. Today I started at 9pm. I finished disc 27. I also needed to assist with left arm.

Jann I counted calories but it's not much different than my normal eating-1200-1600 calories per day. My main trouble is not burning many calories. I've decided to add Leslie's walking program to sts and other cardio. She just has you doing 1-3 miles per day.

Yea Magnolia I love the weight loss.

Tricia I know I am limited in cardio because I always have to use low or no step. I hope when I lose 20-30lbs my knees can take more.

Have a good weekend.

Joan

Joan I like Leslie! I have a couple of her DVD's. I bought one from Target that has the weighted belt.. I don't know it was on sale, I had a coupon, it all happened so fast....:p I haven't tried that one yet. Sounds like a good idea!

hey all

Almost finished with vacation and then back to the real world. Dh and I have worn ourselves out- luckily we both like to be active on vacation. He is the tennis player really, but I can hold my own in a clinic where they feed you the balls. But I got in at least two workouts a day, I did the STS or the treadmill, and pilates everyday. Oh and Zumba one day. Then we rested, read, hiked and enjoyed being out of the heat. It was fun:D

Thank you Magonolia for the chocolate advice. I have tried the pudding but have never seen the skinny cow. I am going to look for it. Of course, in a perfect world I would just zip my lips after dinner and not need anything, but that's not happening so a "legal" treat is nice.

I know what you all mean about the step height. I guess it is the "muscle confusion" that makes you not be able to do a routine after switching to another one for a while. I have not been able to do the double risers since I started switching my cardio all the time, because when I get back to the step, my feet don't remember where to go.

Hope everyone has a great night!!! Beth
