50 and Over: ~~ Torential Tuesday!~~

Good Morning!

Not exactly torential, but it is raining pretty steadily here. Great for the landscape, terrible for my hair! x( I know that sounds pretty shallow LOL, but if you have wavy hair, humidity is the
enemy}( !

Today I did the 4DS, shoulders, calves & core premix that has the weights first. I was bummed to see that she did not include the calf and core workout in this pre-mix, you do shoulders and they you are into the step part. I had to go back to the chapters to do the calves and core. She didn;t do this on the back/chest one.

I think I am at a plateau with the weight loss at the moment. I have not lost anything since before my trip to Mississippi. I didn;t gain while there or in DC ( thank goodness) , but have not lost either. Not sure if I need to eat less, eat more, more cardio etc:-( . I will see what this week brings, then maybe tweek something.

Todays Menu:
Post Workout: Protein drink with ice/water
B: Cherrios with strawberries and skim milk
S: LF yogurt
L: Ham on WW, grapes, skim milk
S: apple & stringster
D: Leftover Pasta fagioli soup
S: WW choc ice cream bar, or Skinny Cow

Nancy:
So glad you are joining us! I am involved in an AKC affiliated dog obedience/agility club and we have matches that I act as the judge for. These are practice runs for those that are entered in upcoming actual AKC trials. ( a trial is where you perform before a real AKC judge to get points towards a title for your dog) I too use the treadmill for cardio and Cathe for weights. Do you have any I-Treads?How is the new skin regime going?

Josie:
I can't believe you ran 5 miles with a cold! Be careful that you don;t set yourself back to where you are not able to run. Take a break girl! LOL.

Garance:
I'm glad you told me about the kickbox workout.. that is on my schedule for tomorrow. I will do the weights first, then as much of the kickbox as I can. I never do any of the leg presses on the step with more than 12 inches... too bad on the knees. Usually I use 10 inches. Too funny about the elevator! :7

Linny:
You must be glad that you can relax after all the hard work with the wedding! Dips hurt my wrists as well, but I thought it was because I do them using an old weight bench that has a padded seat. I am not too sure about using the high step the way Cathe does. It doesn't seem too steady to me.

Have a great day!

Deb ;-)

Happy Tuesday, All,

Garance, about that sign - Things that make you go Hmmm, indeed! Sounds to me like sign-maker is not safe to think!

Nancy, my injury occurred Sept. 4, when I stepped into an elevator at work and it fell 2 floors in about a millisecond. I have a pretty severe whiplash injury, and was off work for 3 weeks. I'm now on half-days at work, with 3 days a week of physical therapy - which HURTS and is way more strenuous than a Cathe tape.

Friday is my last day of PT. The therapist will evaluate me and either dismiss me or recommend I continue, perhaps 2 days a week instead of 3. I really hope he dismisses me. Yes, the back still hurts, but I don't think I would get much more out of going to that facility. I've memorized all the recommended exercises and stretches.

I see the doctor November 6. I hope he releases me to full duty, because I don't think any company would want to hire someone who's on half days on Workers' Comp.

This is really on my mind now because yesterday everyone in our company got an e-mail saying 5 percent of our staff will be laid off next Monday-Tuesday. Now, since I'm scheduled to have my day off next Tuesday, and I'm only working Monday until noon because of being on half-days, if they don't lay me off Monday morning I've got King's X, right?

Once again I must apologize to all you lovely ladies for just talking about myself in these e-mails lately, but it seems like it's just been one thing after another since September. Time for a break! If this is my midlife crisis, let's pile it all on and get it over with already! Also, if this really is my midlife crisis, I'm going to live to be a very old woman!

Practicing the unemployment line shuffle while chanting GO RED SOX!

Hi Deb, Jen and later posters--

Today I did all LIS (includes shoulders, calves, and core). I like this one, and have almost mastered the tricky final combo on the step.

Off to Oxford tomorrow. Wish me luck! I won't be in contact for several days, so soldier on without me.

Watched Dancing With the Stars last night. I really liked the Cheetah girl--even though I still don't know what a Cheetah girl is or how it makes one a celebrity. Spent the rest of the evening reading Cat's Eye by Margaret Atwood, since I will be teaching four of her novels over our one-month Winter Study. I had forgotten how good this one is. Wonderful first-person narrative.

Hope everything settles down for you soon Jen. I don't see how they can lay you off after what you have been through--it is literally adding insult to injury in your case.

Deb, I haven't lost any pounds either for a long time, but I am relatively satisfied with my 136.

Bye-bye everyone!

Hi Ladies,

I feel much better today, I have been taking Airborne and it seem to work. I will be taking another day off just in case. Also, the air quality here in LA is terrible because of the fires.

Garance, Make sure you take some Airborne before you get on that plane. Have a great trip!

Jen, I hope that you do not get laid off. I will be praying for you.

I also have not lost any weight, my body is holding on to every ounce.

I just got my new workouts, but did not get a chance to preview them yet.

Josie

Hi Ladies:
Garance: Have fun in England,I hope you have great weather. I'll be thinking of you and rooting for you when I watch the Red Sox.
Jen: That would be just plain mean if you get laid off. Would you be able to collect unemployment benefits? I hope you can be discharged from your medical restrictions this week. But most important is you feeling better.
Josie: I still have this cough thing going. Today I went to see patients with other nurse. They probably think I have TB or something. I'd be fine and then all of a sudden I'd get a tickle in my throat and start coughing and couldn't stop. I had tears running down my face from coughing so hard. So embarrassing. Glad you are feeling better.
Nancy:Are you from Buffalo, New york? We had alot of people at the wedding from Buffalo. Nice people.
Deb: Sounds like you're liking the new dvds so far. I have only lost a pound since DD and I started challenge. I need to crack the whip.
Heres my menu for yesterday.
SpecK w/strawberries and milk
granola
slimfast bar
tortielli/chicken/tomato sauce
apple crisp w/icecream
Have a good night ladies~Linny~
