50 and Over- *Saturday & Sunday* !!

Good Morning and welcome to the weekend!

Today is my "rest" day which means no excercise, but weeding, laundry etc. What fun! LOL! It is beautiful here, cool and sunny. We are supposed to get thunderstorms in the area later today, hope not here..

Jen: I never heard of a policy that gives you 10 sick days ( or wellness days), in your career! I kind of like the "earning back" policy though. I have always been a proponent of giving people so many sick days a year, ( let's say 5) and if they don;t take them, give them the $$ at the end of the year. We don;t have a policy of how many days, just a limit where if you get into that range you can be issued a written warning, which could eventually lead to termination. I have never seen a TRansfirmer workout.. I heard that people either like or hate the piece of equipment..

Garance: The ballet sounds wonderful.. I took ballet classes when I was very young for about 4 years. Then went back to an adult class at 29, even got on Pointe! I am with you all the way on the cardio part of the new Boot Camp.. does not look like fun to me at all. I have not seen the new Harry Potter film.. maybe DH and I will go in a couple of weeks when the crowds die down LOL!

Have a great day.. will be back tomorrow!

Happy Saturday, All,

Garance, my co-worker saw the Harry Potter movie and can't stop raving about it. However, she is HP-obsessed (has a Harry Potter calendar above her desk), so that's probably not an objective opinion.

Yeah, now sick days are wellness days - as if I needed any more confirmation that I'm living a Dilbert cartoon.

Did Christi Taylor's Mission Possible 2 yesterday, and Classical Stretch Anti-Aging 2 from the TV show. I fall more in love with CS each time I do it.

Today will be High Step Challenge from the Hardcore series. The word for the day is Modify!!

Have a wonderful day,
Jen

Regarding "wellness days"

As teachers we have union representation, get paid for 10 months of work a year, and ten sick days a year. They are available the first day of each school year, whether or not they have been accrued. If you don't use them they can carry over to the next year. During the academic year we also get paid days off when schools are not in session. In addition we get 3 "personal" days a year, two of which can be carried over to the next year if they are not used. Professional leave days are under a different heading. Beheavement leave comes out of sick leave and can be up to 5 days.

Did Cardio and Weights today. Been painting with DH all day. Tomorrow is woodwork and hopefully Harry Potter.

I am sure that we will be able to do the new Boot Camp with modifications. Remember, there is nothing we cannot do for a minute...ha...ha..........

Regards,

Rhonda

Happy Sunday to all!

I started my 4th week of a one body part per day ( except Legs & Shoulders) with S&H. Burned 347 calories today! I really like this rotation and don't want to change it just yet. I know you are supposed to change things after 4 weeks, but after finally seeing some results, it makes me want to keep doing it. I may go for 1 more week after this one, the decide what to do after that. I know when we go to California ( Aug 9-13) I will be only able to do cardio, 3 days in a row while there. Does anyone here use Sparkpeople or Fitday?

Jen: I got the Classic Stretch DVD in the mail yesterday and previewe it a bit. Noticed that there are no chapters, so if you wanted to just to do a certain section, it is not easy to find it. The first stretch of the lower body, where you are lieing on your side seems strange, I tried it and the only thing that I felt was my hip on the floor hurting real bad! I must have been doing something wrong. I agree on the Dilbert thing! Have you been reading them lateley? too funny and so true! I loved the policy one this past week LOL!

Rhonda: Teachers do have a good thing when it comes to sick days. I would love if we could carry over.. It sounds like you are going to need a vacation from your "vacation"!

Have a great day!

Hi Deb, Rhonda, and Jen--

I did Step Blast this morning, and was really sweating. I think it was because the humidity suddenly cranked up to 70 per cent. I didn't feel as perky as I thought I would doing it. I get energized when I go to a dance performance and then I want to do one of the more choreographically challenging of Cathe's workouts--like Step Blast or Rhythmic Step. But I felt kind of soggy despite my best efforts.

The Royal Danish Ballet was wonderful. They did four pieces by Bournonville, a very different 19th-century choreographer than the Russians. A lot of very delicate and complicated footwork and very shaped arms as opposed to those liquid, languid, floating Russian arms. The male dancers in this tradition are also as important as the ballerinas, while in the Russian ballet, they are often just there to lift and support the ballerinas and do the occasional virtuoso leaping work. They also did a couple of contemporary pieces that had a zany quality to them. Great afternoon, too--sunny, no humidity, and 70s.

I think I will do Muscle Max tomorrow.

Enjoy the rest of the day, ladies!
