50 and Over: Saturday & Sunday!

Cathlete
Good Morning all:

Today is a rest day for excercise, but will be weeding the garden and doing other things around the house.

Rhonda: I am moved by your career choice.. we are lucky to have people like you in the world who do such and important job. Hope you had a great workout with SH. I am going to print that low fat brownie recipe.. do you have a way to figure out the cal/fat/carb/ ratio with this version?

Garance: Wow.. a prefessor in our midst! Now I will have to be very careful of spelling and grammar! What other things do you do with the pesto, besides dip yummy ("unclean") bread into it? I can make a whole meal out of this! Oh how I wish I could get my DH to take dancing lessons! good for you :)

Linny: hopefully once this job is behind you, the hives will be too! Wow Low Max in it's entirety? plus Bi's from PUB? good workout!

Melrose/Jen: Be careful with that injury.. you could end up off your feet for a long time. I know it is so tempting to still do workouts when injured. I did the same with a ruptured disk for a few months then was in so much pain, I could barely exist.. until the surgery. You wouldn't think they would need an archivist on the weekend?

Interesting to hear what everyone does when they are not doing Cathe! Have a great day... I'll be back later!

Deb ;-)

Deb: A half cup of yogurt has about 50 calories. Divided into eight servings is about 6 calories per brownie. I decided not to worry about it. If figured out weight watcher points based on nutrition (fiber, fat, calories) listed on the box.

Yesterday did SH shoulders and CTX Kickboxing and abs, ending with stretching. This morning was CTX All Step, abs, and SH Legs, ending with stretching.

Beautiful day in the neighborhood. I am off on unknown adventures, if my husband ever finishes working on the laundry room walls. He is patching in preparation for painting and putting up Elfa shelving. An OCDer's dream.

Will check in later in the weekend.

Rhonda

Hi Rhonda:

What I was looking for was the nutrition for one of the brownies without the oil and eggs.. I guess what is left is the mix, and yogurt and water.. I am really an A-type personality when it comes to keeping track of calories in and calories burned!

p.s what type of shelving is that?

Hi Deb and Rhonda and future posters--

Today is my rest day, if you can call housecleaning all morning a rest day.

Deb, we usually eat pesto with linguine and tomatoes on the side. It also tastes great on grilled chicken, and there's an easy lasagna recipe at epicurious.com that combines pesto with spinach for one of its layers. My oldest son sometimes just smears it on his sandwiches. It's an all-purpose food!!

I think my left knee is getting bad again. My last cortisone shot was 3 months ago, so this is a little bit better. Before, it was about 2.5 months. I'm going to call on Monday. It's the only thing that works--other than knee replacement, which I want to wait on for awhile.

What an interesting array of professions! And we all share a common interest in exercise and hanging in there past 50. I cannot believe that in my 30s I would jog 5 miles every day. My body has since been through hell and back (pregnancies, surgeries, injuries of various kinds)--"the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune"--and I am just thankful I'm still moving.

Have a great weekend ladies!

That brings back memories. I used to have horses and I still hang my clothes outside on a line.

Happy Sunday to all!

Today I start my second week of cardio/SH rotation.. today was SH Legs & Shoulders. I think I am going pretty heavy with these workouts but for some odd reason, get no DOMS the next day ? I finally broke down and bought an MP3 player yesterday.. I have been burning my I-Train workouts on to CD's and playing them with the DVD player.. it is ok except if you want to use one of these when you are away..

Garance: that pesto dish sounds yummy! sorry to hear about your knee.

Cathy: bathe a horse? you have to tell us where you live! good for you doing Body Max in its entirety! Wish I could hang my cloths out on a line.. I guess I could but with a side yard, the neighbors would probably not like it too much!

Have a great day!

Deb

Hi Deb et al--

Today I did Drill Max (78 min.) with my usual modifications to lower the impact. I also repeat an earlier drill during drill 5, because I don't have the space for this agility drill. What I like about this workout is its variety. It seems to fly by because everything is done just once, and it's all very different.

Yep, tomorrow I'm making an appointment to see my orthopedic surgeon for a cortisone shot. It's the only thing that works, and it REALLY works--totally rids me of the pain.

It feels more like fall than summer here in the Berkshires--only up in the 60s.

The pesto was wonderful!!

Happy Sunday, All,

fox2star, could you call my supervisor and ask your question about why we need archivists to work weekends? I've never been able to get a good answer out of her. Hee. The official reason is that our customers pay a lot of money to be able to access our content within 24 hours or less. I think there's a hole in that argument though, because 99 percent of our paying customers are businesses who never check our database on weekends. Sigh.

The foot is no better today, so no exercise. I'll call the podiatrist tomorrow if there's no improvement.

Yesterday my 2-year-old grandson had a ''recital'' at church. He attended vacation bible school all week, and there was a program the last day. I knew he wouldn't follow directions, but he was awesomely bad. He was supposed to sit on the bottom step of the steps leading up to the stage. The older kids were on the stage, behind his class. He decided he needed to join them, so he kept going up and down the stairs. Finally, all the other 2-year-olds decided maybe they were supposed to be following him, so they were all weaving between all the other kids when they were supposed to be singing their songs. I was holding his 4-month-old little brother, and I had to bury my mouth in his blanket, because I couldn't stop laughing.

Have a wonderful Sunday,
Jen
