Linny, Nancy, Josie, Jen and anyone that follows:

How do you celebrate Halloween in your areas? normal Trick or Treat on 10/31? beggar's night before? we used to have that here but they stopped it...which I am glad they did. We kind of informally have it between 6-7:30 or 8:00. I turn all the lights off at 7:30. When the kids are taller than your husband, with deep voices, I think we are done!}(

Have a great start to the week.

Deb;-)

Hi Deb and those to follow:
Hooray! Red Sox won World SEries! Garance must be dancing in England!
Deb: I totally agree about the shutting the lights off at 7:30. Seems like the Trick or Treaters get older and older every year. I've had a few come up smoking a cigarette to the door. Our Trick or Treat is celebrated on Halloween.Saw my DD this weekend every time I'd try to stick candy into mouth she'd grab it. My problem is my diet her's exercise. Which we could give each other some of both. I will be posting menu tomorrow. Have a great day! Garance,Jen,Josie and Nancy too!~Linny~

Good Morning Ladies,

I did not get to work out this weekend, but now that all these birthdays and home coming and dances are over, my schedule should be better. I will be doing one of the new tapes today when I get home.

Have a great day!

Josie

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

Yep, I am back. I heard the last couple innings on the drive back from the airport last night on the World Series. I guess the American League is just too powerful for the National league. My husband says it's because the National League cannot attract the best pitchers because they don't want to have an at bat. This leads to really good pitching in the American League that challenges the batters more, creating better batting. Yay, Red Sox!!!!!

On the last night of the conference, of course, I fell on the cobble stones of ye olde Oxford and really banged my right knee--the one I always considered my "GOOD" knee. It was really awful yesterday, so I asked for a wheelchair both at Heathrow and at Washington/Dulles. It turned into a blessing in disguise, because I whizzed through both places, and Heathrow is a terror of an airport, and going through all the customs stuff is equally complicated, but not when you have an expert wheelchair pusher. I basically did nothing. I also was mightily pleased with United Airlines--on time, and extremely helpful.

I thought it was going to be a long recovery from this one, but I managed to get in to see my orthopedist this afternoon, who drained a ton of blood and fluid from my knee after x-raying it and discovering a little crack. He then shot some cortisone, and I feel like one of those evangelical miracles--Thank you, lord (in this case, my orthopedist, whom I now consider a miracle worker), I can stand! I can walk! Limp no more! I'm saved!

Anyway, he told me to stay off exercise for a week, which I will, and let the bone have some time to heal.

I gave a talk to a very big audience at Rhodes House and had a very positive response. Autographed several of my books on sale. Schmoozed with all of the Plath and Hughes scholars, heard a lot of great papers. It was really a great conference and I'm glad I went except for the fall. I even had two good hair days, which is really a feat of wonder in England.

Before I went last Wednesday, I did HIS, and I think I will have to send this one back. The soundtrack and the image are not synchronized. I was wondering why Cathe was always off beat until I really stopped to look at her mouth. It also explains my problems with getting some of the steps down. I'm also worried about the Boot Camp. I think I have a freeze on the weights--or at least I did when I was previewing it last week.

Anyway--hi guys. Glad to be back.
