Good Morning all!

I downloaded a couple of new I-Treads yesterday and tried one this morning.. a pretty good 35 minute walk/jog. The other one was a 60 minute outdoor one that I will save for when DH and I go visit his mother in California. There is a really nice park at the end of her street that has a jogging path. I saw all the pictures in the Blog about the Boot Camp portion of the new series... and thought, I wonder what cardio I will sub for this one? I can't do that much jumping around, knee and back can;t take it any more.. I hope the other 3 are low impact! Still looking forward to the weight sections of this series.

Rhonda: still cleaning?? LOL. when do you rest?

Garance: welcome back and thanks for the info on the Kathy Smith walking dvd.. I will go over to Collage and look it up. Agree on the weather for the NE.. yesterday was the first day all week that I did not have my hair in a pony tail..lol..Good for you on the bone density test.. all the weight work really paid off.

Jen: we don;t get bored with your info on Texas! It is all amazing to me that we can all live in different areas, have differnt life styles and this board and our love for excercise brings us all together! I can see why would insist on the shot.. how bad would the surgery be? Maybe it would be over quick and it wouldn;t keep you from excercising , except for holding weights etc? you could still do cardio?

Have a great day!

Deb

Happy Friday, All,

Another hot one in the swamp - the ``feels-like'' temperature is 105 today. I seriously don't know how people lived in this town before air conditioning. Hooray for you guys up north - enjoy it!

Deb, the surgery probably wouldn't be bad; the problem is my work. A new policy was instituted this year. Everyone is given 10 ``wellness'' days to be used for sick days, doctor's appointments, etc. This would be fine if we got 10 a year, but the 10 days are for our WHOLE CAREER!

We can never have more than 10, and we can not carry days over from one year to the next. If we have less than 10, we can earn 1 day back after 3 months of perfect attendance.

The surgery would put me away from work for about 4 weeks. There's no problem after the first 2 weeks because I would go on short-term disability for as long as necessary. I have to use 10 days of sick pay before starting on disability. That would use up all my wellness days.

We are given 5 days back after coming back from being on disability. However, if I were to get sick (say a week with the flu) or have to go out again on disability, I'm looking at 5 or more days without pay. Even if I have perfect attendance, it would take more than a year to earn back the other 5.

Maybe I shouldn't be so worried about this, but I know if it weren't for this new policy I would probably say go ahead with the surgery.

On to more pleasant topics: I did the Firm Transfirmer Cardio Fat Blaster last night and Tamilee's 30-minute stretch tape. I like the Transfirmer tapes. I don't have a Transfirmer and it's not necessary.

Tonight, I'm planning to do Christi's Mission Possible Hi-Low and Classical Stretch Anti-Aging 2 from the TV show.

Have a wonderful day,
Jen

Hi, Deb and Jen--

I did the Gym Style Back, Shoulder, Biceps this morning.

It is currently 71 degrees here, sunny, and not at all humid--just plain a gorgeous day.

Tomorrow is my off day when I clean. I am also headed off to Jacob's Pillow again to see a Danish ballet company (the famed Bournonville), so I probably won't check in until Sunday.

Hey, Jen, I wonder who came up with the idea of calling sick days wellness days. Is it some sort of expression of the hope that taking a day off will cure your illness? Reminds me of the humor on The Office.

Looking at the Boot Camp pics at the blog, I think this will call for major modifications to protect my knees from too much impact.

Has anyone seen the new Harry Potter film yet? I am going to try to see it next week.

Enjoy the rest of the day, all!
