50 and Over ~Fabulous Friday!

Good Morning all,

Starting the thread late today as I had to take one of my dogs to the Vet this morning. He has had a sporadic limp and we had him in late June.. they x-rayed and said he might have a sprained toe. So we got some pain killers and they said "keep him quiet" so he can heal.. HA! did you ever try to keep a wire fox terrier quiet? especially when you have 2 of them? :7 that's a joke! anyway, he is not any better so I called and they said they wanted to re-check him.
Another x-ray of the whole leg/shoulder area and they think he may be starting to have some type of osteo issues in his elbow joint. They have me doing a small round of predisone ( which I hate to give my dogs, but that's another whole thread), to see if the swelling in the joint goes down. Hopefully it will and I won;t have to keep him on this at all.

Did Pure Strength Chest/Shoulders/Triceps this am before the vet trip. Beautiful weather here.. 72 and low humidity.

I also like the SS upper body pre-mix. I missed the Dance show.. will have to go on line to see who won and if that young man from here was in the finals. How do you put your feet in both oceans in the same day??

Jen:
Sometimes you have to let the good parts of life get in the way of working out!:9 Hope you all come out ok with all the storms your way. Our thoughts are with you and yours and we pray that Dean goes somewhere over the ocean!

Linny:
I-Tread are treadmill workouts that you download from ITrain.com. You can burn them on CD's or use an MP3 player. It is not as complicated as you think! If I can do this, anyone can. They have workouts for treadmills, elipticals, and stationary bikes as well as strength, stretching and even ballet type workouts. I love them :7 . They have a walking/joggong/running one for outdoors that I took on my trip to California last week and I did it 3 days in a row at a park at the end of my MIL's street. Did about 2 miles each day. only doing the first 30 minutes. At first I just burned them on CD's and played them right on the DVD player I use for my workouts. Then because I wanted to take a workout with me to California, I got a very inexpensive MP3 player at Best Buy, their own brand. I only use it for working out, no music.

Have a great rest of the day!

Happy Friday, All,

The sun is shining here today - it looks especially beautiful after yesterday. I managed to get home, but it was slow going - high water, trees down, etc. I consider myself and my family oh-so lucky - there were 3 deaths here in Houston - 2 at a grocery store when the roof collapsed, and one traffic death. Many thanks for your kind wishes and prayers - still keeping a wary eye on Dean. By the way, my son-in-law's name is Dean!

Did TLT Better Burn . . . Better Buns last night. I really enjoy these TLTs - they kill me, but I have fun while it's happening! The moves are quite creative and the time flies by.

Today, I plan to do Classical Stretch Full Body Workout 1 - this is the first full-hour DVD I've done of Miranda's. I'm hoping to be really stretched out tonight!

Have a wonderful day,
Jen

Hi Deb and Jen and later posters--

Gorgeous here today--sunny 70s. Sounds like the whole weekend will be like this, tra la.

I did Kimberly Spreen's Absolute Kickboxing--just the kickboxing part, followed by core and abs.

Sorry to hear about your dog, Deb. Our dog died (we had him put down, actually) about a year ago, after a slowly deteriorating joint problem that made him helpless. He went from limping with one of his paws in the air to being incapable of standing for more than a few minutes. My husband would carry him from one favorite spot to another as the day progressed. He was a big old clown of a farm dog who followed my husband everywhere. We had to put him down when he just plain couldn't lift his head and stopped smiling altogether. He was, I hasten to add, 15 years old, and was a shepherd-husky mix. Larger dogs do tend to have shorter lives.

Sabra won last night. She's really wonderful, but then so were the other three.

Enjoy your weekends ladies, and I hope Dean doesn't wreak havoc on Texas.

Hi Ladies:
Its a beautiful day here. Tonite going out to dinner(Margaritas,my favorite)then to a concert. George Thourogood,he plays that song"Bad to the Bone".
Deb:Is the I-Tread motivational speaking or music? I have a cd player but not MP3 player. Maybe I need to expand my horizons and get one. Its my husband who did the 2 oceans. We went to Huntington Beach in a California in the morning then returned home(Hampton Beach in NH) that afternoon. Hope your dog gets better.
Jen: So glad you made through the bad weather. Praying that Dean goes out to sea.(Not your BIL):)
Garance:I did Cathe's Kickbox this morning. How does Kimberly's compare?
Have a great night ladies~Linny~
