5 days from our election...........things are

eerily quiet around here. It's freaking me out. I'm almost completely caught up w/my work--partly thanks to not being able to get on the forum for almost a week, partly b/c our councilmembers have virtually disappeared from town hall. Guess they're much more visible publicly but I'm trying to stay away from all that.

So I'm bored & I have time to play. I'm almost missing the pressure & the deadlines. What can we talk about? The price of eggs? The price of milk? My new TV? BTW I LOVE my new TV, I had no idea how crappy my old one was until I got my new one.......Cathe looks totally different w/a high quality picture! :+
 
What kind of TV did you get?

I heard on the news that the price of eggs, milk and pretty much all food that comes from a farm will be going up because of the price of corn. So which is worse? Paying $4 a gallon for gas, or paying more for everything else because of ethanol. (for the record, I'm going with gas being worse, because of the environment)

Somebody has REALLY got to get on the ball and invent the transporter already!!!!!
 
Oh I got this fabulous 36" LG HD. Now, I'm a complete techno-idiot--of course when I called the cable co. they tried to sell me their "triple play" & I was like dude, give me a break, I don't have a phone or computer, the new TV is like my first foray into the 21st century--but the difference in picture quality is really incredible. Amazing. I had no idea how crappy my 15 YO TV was (of course when I got it I thought it was the height of luxury).

That said, after I got the new cable box, I really didn't notice the difference between HD & regular TV. All I noticed was the picture was smaller on the HD channels. :p
 
Hey Laura -

If the picture is smaller that means the channel is not broadcasting in HD (not all channels broadcast HD all the time - especially the local channels). There is a noticable difference between the two and if you cannot see it, you should call the cable company.

Nothing like a big TV to really make it seem as if Cathe is there to personally torture you is there?

I saw that you said you would not be going along with me on the no tv week last week. I made it and it wasn't too bad. It was the no computer that killed me! However, I made it! Glad you are happy with the new tv!

Ha! Funny how we're all so different--I have no problem at all living w/o a computer. It's just one less way for my boss to try to get in touch w/me off hours.

Christine--I do have them on the HD channels--maybe I hooked it up wrong (and believe me when I tell you I was prancing w/pride when I hooked everything up & it actually WORKED)? The HD channels are in the 700s (for example NBC channel 4 is HD channel 704). I'm just not seeing a real difference.

I hate when things get "eerily quiet" .. that is usually the calm before the storm (at least here it is) .. and it is kinda that way here right now .. it IS freaking me out .. b/c we should be insanely busy right now and it is really slow and quiet .. very STRANGE!!!

and I too have my work almost caught up .. that has not happened in about a year .. LOL .. but I am leaving at 12:00 today .. so I am sure it will quickly pile up by the time I get back Monday!!x(

Have fun w/the new TV .. Cathe is one of the FEW that actually looks BETTER in HD .. LOL .. most you look at and think .. YIKES .. what happened to them .. they got old .. LOL ..

Poochy, I used that same exact phrase w/my boss yesterday! I have no idea what my life is gonna be like after these elections.......it has been THE WORST campaign I've been through since starting here (it's my 3rd election). I'm a-scared.........

Yeah one of the best things about the new TV are the workout DVDs. It's almost like actually being there w/them. Which can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on a variety of factors. ;-)
