40s - week of 9/18/11

Today was STS disc 8, meso 1, back/bi. Even though it was UB, I'm still just generally tired from my big hike!

Ronne, legs are ok, just a couple small muscles in front of shin are sore (I don't think I really use those muscles other than when I hike, and from what in the hiking does it I'm not sure). I think Cathe leg workouts make them worse than they are now!

Mary, yes, my feet were tired at the end of the 13 miles. In fact I think I was numb from the waist down! But by the next day I'm fine. It helps to have good stiff soled hiking shoes, that way your feet muscles don't have to work so hard. The thing that always hurts is the toes from coming down and hitting against the front of the boot, I think no matter how good the shoes you have some of that and it's less painful toes on subsequent hikes as you get used to it.

Roxie, good that you slept in.

Murphy, dare I say, you can do walking or running stairs, or lots of other things, you know you can. We are here to keep you going!

Jody, how's the knee? Are you going to do some KB even though I know you don't like it, you may end up liking it for easier cardio days, I did.

Lisa - funny you mentioned stairs, I did that yesterday. I also try to get a walk in when I can, weather and kids permitting.

Hi girls! Did 40/20 today, didn't feel like working out, but I made myself! Raining here again, that is why we have to mow so much! Murphy, I think stairs are hard! You wil get back to your routine, everything will eventually come back together. Lisa, that hike should count as a weeks worth of work outs! Roxie, I wonder if your dizziness is due to the weather change? The change of seasons mess with the barometric pressure. Ronne, did your mouth come back to life? I need to get to the dentist! Jody, what are you up to today? Well, off to the shower! Mary

Yes, I will consider trying some KB workouts...gee, KPC is in my shopping cart (with the body blast series and PS), still haven't commited to purchase yet.

Wed are long day of work and social for me so no workout again. I tutor/help at math class from 8 to 2 then tutor/help w/ chem class from 5 to 9. I spend all day long thinking, how can I help you? and trying to get in other's heads while they solve problems.

Mary, good job on getting workout in even tho you didn't feel like it. I like those Hiit workouts, too.

Lisa, I am reading the STS forum, prepping to start that asap.

Roxie, hope you are feeling better.

Ronne, I am too compulsive, I'd probably eat even if I couldn't feel my mouth, bite my tongue or lips, possibly choke, then come here and whine about it, ha ha. I hope you finally got to enjoy lunch. I like going to dentist because I have a crush on him, plus the ladies in the office are super fun and sweet. : )

niters~

I have speed wts (set of 2 that goes to 12.5, ONE set that goes from 10 to 25 for a heavy DB) and a jr bb up to 50 something if I hang my ankle wts on it. Should I buy another heavy DB speed wt before I start STS? (and empty my Cathe cart?)

Hi everyone

Lisa - I know what you mean about the toes thing. I always have sore toes after using my walking boots.

Mary - 40/20 is a good quick blast tho' perhaps your indecision was your body telling you you needed a day off ;)

Murphy - you'll get there - I completely understand what it's like when you can't work out.

Roxie - hope the dizziness is easing off.

Jody - that is so sweet about your dentist!!

Did some yoga today and was very glad I did. While I was lying on my back in the living room I noticed a damp patch on the ceiling! The builder is round here now trying to find out where the problem is! Keep your fingers crossed for me. There's always something, isn't there?!

Good Morning,

Not feeling to bad today. DD and I went for our walk and it was a little chilly 43 degrees I believe but the sky was a pretty pink and purple. Tonite is Push Pull. Hope everyone has a good day.

Ronne-hope they figure out what the problem is.

Jody-was reading about another actress that has some great arms that does circuit training.

I did LIC cardio only + abs. Wanted to take it easy since tomorrow is another hike, maybe not quite as long (I think 10 miles is what we have planned) and same elevation gain.

Ronne, Oh no! I hope it's a problem easily fixed! And yes, with a house it's always something!

Jody, not sure of the exact problem with your knees, if it's mostly from impact, I also find if I only use one riser (yes I can cardio wise use 2, but one riser is better for my knees). Better than nothing! I now only use 1 riser or else I know my knees will feel it. Of course I'm only 5'5".

Murphy, I don't like stairs either but it's something, I prefer the "natural" stairs on my hikes :)

Mary, still mowing? wow, I guess our grass would grow more if we fertilized it

Roxie, see, you get to see amazing sights getting up early and walking, otherwise you would have missed it!

Good morning! Did MMA KB this am. Didn't feel like dealing with any equipment! Ronne, maybe they just didn't tighten something enough when they put in the new shower? I hope it is something simple and inexpensive! Lisa, another hike? Your poor tootsies! How nice to have a GF that likes to work out with you! My GF's tell me they don't like to sweat on purpose! Just my SIL, but she lives in VA, only when we get to go on vacation together. Roxie, that is a nice way to start your day. I also would not ind having Jessica Biel's figure! Murphy, how are you? Jody, your comment about eating with novocaine reminded me, once my youngest DS had to get a filling, he was only 4. Anyway, he was starving it had been almost 3 hours, got him a bagel, we were in the car, I turn around the bagel is turning bright red, he ate the inside of his mouth up and never knew it! I felt like the worst mother ever that day. Sorry if I shared too much there! Well, the floor is screaming to be washed, I will talk to you later! Mary

Hi all. I have to say, it has been interesting reading the posts. I cannot keep up with everything but I hope all of you are well, recovering, getting through whatever is happeing right now. Mary, I must say, the bright red bagel made me feel better. It is those time when you need to know that you are not the only mom these things happen to. The way I see it, if I don't feel like the worst mom ever at some point in time, I must be doing something wrong. It's not easy being a mom.

Anyway, today was a powerwalk day. Of course this is also the day for the gigantic crickets and spiders. I swear, today I saw the biggest cricket I ever saw and the biggest spider I ever saw. The cricket was about three inches long and the spider, with its legs, who knows. I am just glad the spider was towards the end of the walk b/c that was it. :-0

Murphy

My 15 yo has fever up to 102.5 +/- for 2 days (was gone but back now. Noticed today that her face is red and blotchy (smooth, not raised rash vs just blotchy from fever?) No sign of sore throat or upper respiratory. Sore neck and shoulders on day one. Diagnosis anyone?

First day of statistics class at 8 am to noon...I am considering dropping it due to time constraints. Sick kid maybe needing doc visit case in point.

Lisa, how much wt do you use on your bar for legs with STS?

Ronne, sorry about the ceiling, I really hope it is a quick and painless fix.

Murphy, I saw a black snake in the middle of staircase leading into school building last night and a big stick looking bug on way back to car. : D When I see stuff like that I want to whip out a field guide and start researching.

Mary, my floor is screaming, will you come here when you are done? Re your son after dentist, Awwww I am sure you felt bad but just goes to show you, no matter how well intention-ed we are, sometimes we just can't think of everything.

Rox, enjoy those pretty walks w/ dd. Sounds nice.

I just did abs today (also from LIC, Lisa) skipped the upper bod premix this aft. I am going to get some homework done. I feel overwhelmed.

Good Evening,

Tonite I did Push Pull still can't lay on floor to do abs so I will do some standing abs tomarrow.

Jody-could be strep but she really needs a dr. ick on the creepy crawlers.

hi everyone

Mary wins the prize!! She correctly diagnosed what had caused the leak. So what should the prize be? It'll have to be something you can get for yourself this weekend, Mary :D!
So, the builder took a pipe joint out and replaced it so fingers crossed that is it now.
Today I did KCM bootcamp plus my push-ups - 60 in total!! Got a quietish weekend planned - DH's son is coming down to run a half-marathon and that's about it. Weather's looking good so hoping it will be nice all weekend.

Lisa - have fun on your hike. It's nice to be able to do stuff outside still. How's the pee situation in the basement, better?

Mary - that's funny about your friends! And the number of things I've done with DD and felt like the worst parent in the world!! Your poor DS, I would never have thought of that either.

Murphy - hang in there - not too bothered about the cricket and spider but wouldn't necessarily want to handle them.

Jody - sounds like your DD needs to see the doctor (that's rich coming from me! I avoid going to the doctor whenever I can!). Sounds like you've got a lot on your plate.

Roxie - any nice plans for the weekend?

Good Morning,

We didn't go for a walk this morning DD's DH is sick and won't go to the dr. and she doesn't want to get sick so she decided she needs her sleep. Tonite for me will be 4ds KB. SIL is coming over tomarrow to watch the football game but other then that no plans.

Ronne-glad to hear they got your leak fixed.

Jody-how is DD?

Hi girls! It's Friday! Today did HR, seems so much harder than PH! Lisa, hope you are having good weather on your hike, raining again here. DD and I got ours mowed again yesterday. It is supposed to rain for the next 5 days! Jody, how is your DD? Any better? I will gladly come wash your floor! I love to clean, very soothing to me for some reason! Ronne, I am so glad it was something easily fixed! 60 pushups? You are going to hit a 100 in no time! Roxie, how is your dizziness? Murphy, I hate bugs!! Especially silverfish, all those legs and antenna's, just flip me out! Also, parenting is the hardest thing I have ever done! 24/7, no time off, but boy do they give me joy! Well, have a good weekend, we have cross country in the morning. Maybe a date tomorrow? I know I Sunday it will be football ALL day! Talk to ya later, MRy

Mary-dizziness hanging in there but I kind of figured out what irritates it yesterday hunching my shoulders and reaching over my head.

Hey girls, rest day :) Had a wonderful hike, this one was soooo pretty. Saw so many lakes. Sky Pond at the top was beautiful (that picture is on my friends camera so will be a while before I get that posted). There was a section up to sky pond that required some intense climbing (needing to use hands to crawl up the rock face). Got to the top and popped open a beer! These guys up there was so surprised and said that we earned it carrying it up there! Overall, we think we went 11.5 miles at 3500 ft elevation. Animals seen this time were some Elk lounging about and some ptarmigan.

Mary, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Hi,

My dd is better I think but she is now feeling terrible b/c of cramps.

Had tea at a tea room with some of the besties yesterday- they helped me figure out some priorities, etc.

Lisa, your hike and beverage sound fun. One beer tho and I would take a nap instead of climb down.

Hi to all and have a nice weekend.

I did PH today, light to no wt on legs. I am working on my 1RM for STS, but I can see that I will need at least another set of speed wts so I can have a whole pair going from 12.5 to 25 to start.

Lisa, thanks for the birthday wishes. Now we are the same age again! I am thinking of a rest day? Your hike looked beautiful! Jody, glad to hear your DD is feeling better. Roxie, did you walk this morning or sleep? Hope all is well with everyone! Mary
