40's - week of 2/17/13

yoga last night and yoga this morning....like doing it more at night, but wasn't sure how I'd feel after my chiro visit today.

Ronne, thank you for turning me onto YT. It is a bit more interesting than Cathe's yoga (more informative). I'm sticking to the first time workouts....I get enough of a stretch from them and I'm learning. The one I did that said it was for Yogis (but then the description said all levels) I didn't get as much out of. I see now why chiro says my chest needs stretched...the pose where you are in a lunge, one arm down and one arm up to the sky is where I figured that out (yes Cathe does those too...I skipped them, whoops!) Also threading arm thru while in Child's pose, is difficult for me and I;m not doing them as it puts too much pressure on my neck (figure my neck gets involved because of lack of flexibility). I work up a little sweat at times holding some of the poses. I miss Cathe, but when the arm movements with hamstring pulls when doing cardio was irritating my neck I knew I should hold off, get it all healed then slowly get back into it.

Mary, I'm guessing a week before chairs are here. The reason they will help is I figured out I had horrible posture laying in our couch/chaise, pillow behind head (pushing head forward.....remember most of my problem has been forward head position). Couch would be bad after DH laid in my spot and ruined how I had the pillows supporting in a way where I think it minimized the FHP, but I got lazy at ME always having to plump them up. Yes, for now chiro 3x a week....I'm hoping it tapers off soon. I don't want to be in pain Saturday(when the kids are over to celebrate our anniv) so I'll do the 3 days this week and hoping to taper off next week. Will see today if my spine is holding adjustment better, I'm trying not to do anything that angers it! Thankfully I thought of the rocking chair for DH to move to the family room for now (the couch is BAD for me, even sitting in it). You are a wise one to pick hospitals close to you! It's like me trying to pick the work requests I want to work on :)

Jody, it's ok to be all about you. We love hearing of what's going on in each others lives. I know a lot of my posts are about me, I just hope some of them (especially the ones lately) help you all in some way. Can I have your body for a while? even if it is older than mine? I guess I suck at posture and head position. I swear this neck posture pump I feel like my head can roll off at any time since my neck gets stretched so much. I've never been accused of being limber and I notice now I'm worse as I got older. Something to work toward....but still, I want your's or Ronne's body :)

Roxie, are you hanging in there? Murphy, you out there?
 
Good Afternoon,

I was busy at work on the road doing oxygen checks again and I managed to get home before the snow started we are expecting 14" of snow over the next 24 hours. I didn't get my legs done last night because of the furnace guy then we had to sign paperwork on the house and take the pool table out to DDs house and the washer to youngest DDs storage unit. I will do Xtrain HS after the next furnace man leaves they decided we needed to replace it and she also wants the crack in the driveway fixed but I am throwing a fit because we are replacing the furnace.

Lisa-hope the yoga helps.

Mary-Friday is my last day and I just found out the dr. appt I thought was next Friday is this week.
 
Hi all! Today did CSS? Lots of running today, Wednesday's are my bad day! Lisa, hope this feels better for you soon. So frustrating! Especially when you just want to do what you want. Is insurance covering all the visits? I think you channeled me! My neck was hurting, when down my shoulder blade, DH rubbed it out, then it went into a spasm! I was nuts! Hurt to move, breathe! Put the heating pad on it and it settled down. Are we falling apart? Haha! Roxie, I'm so sorry about the furnace. I would be throwing a tantrum also. I hope the snow passes you, you don't want to move in that! Ronne, I can't believe she is filming again so soon! I wonder when we will hear the details? Jody, you are one busy girl! When does the cat go back to its owner? Have to go get little one from practice, have a good evening! Mary. Lisa, don't you want my body??? LOL!

Lisa, I've now pictured you and hubby sorta like Joey and Chandler in their recliners, except they were watching free porn, lol. Wish you pain free day. I'm less flexy for sure these days. Girl, did you point out that I am older? o no you didn't! I've heard ultimate yogi is da bomb but I'm not really a yoga girl either. I just like the idea of it.

Mary, I chose the clinical site sorta, it was my 3rd of 3 choices. Other two were closer. We change in the Fall. Thank goodness for that- tho it may be too late. I've managed to piss off a queen bee and days that she works same as me are excruciating- I try to be invisible. By the end of 12 hours, I'm worn out. Love days where I can just work. Cat sitting done this Sunday.

Roxie, good you got all the deliveries done before big snow. I don't envy all your upheaval but in end it should all be good, keep your eye on the prize, that's what I'm trying to do!
Re new series, and Cathe email...I can't even imagine, how to pick just a few? But I love the no name/ sash releases, was just thinking that I could just use them forever with nothing else if I had to. Re new series, well, all I can say is I picked a bad time to stop buying presales /xtrain. Go ahead, sign me up.

Jody - thank you!! Believe me I've had plenty of dissatisfaction/self loathing over the years. I think it started to change when I had my daughter. I just didn't want her to have the hang-ups that I had so I've kept my mouth shut. I used to moan all the time about spots, flabby belly, short legs etc. Hating photos of myself. Then a few years after that I started working out and actually did something about my body (which was noticed by other people which is always a huge boost). So over the past ten years it's gradually ebbed away. I wasted so many years on hating myself and and when I got to my late 30s realised what a complete waste of time that had been. So actually, I think you need my mind more than my body!! :D

Lisa - you might also start to enjoy the relaxation benefits of yoga as well. I really like YT as there is such a variety on there - I tend to go for the easier ones as well.

Mary - oh, no, hope the shoulder's just a one off. You don't need that and your hip problems! Have you been to that consultant yet?

Roxie - hang in there, nearly finished with that mad place!

Today was BS Bis & Tris. I think this is becoming my favourite of the new series! Very odd. 6 weeks ago when I did it for the first time, I couldn't do one tricep push-up on my toes (I collapsed in a heap!). Today I did the whole lot!! I felt so proud!! :) Really starting to feel the benefits of the approach to weights in Xtrain now.
Got to do a last bit of wrapping tonight - it's DD's 12th birthday tomorrow. Can't believe she's going to be 12!
 
Not feeling tooooo bad after adjustment. Doc compared my spine to a dirty sponge, said, instead of just adding a bit of water and letting the sponge sit there, it will get cleaner faster if we keep flushing it with water. So, I've had a constant state of spine DOMS, some in lower back (can deal with that), more in middle back(less able to cope), lot in neck (ok, that's my achilles heel). I'd love to get a good crack out of my neck right now, I actually can't wait to do yoga tonight. Who knew that would happen? DH said he will join me....I think he wants to see how inflexible he is.

As far as bodies, I almost picked Murphys because she's teh youngest, but she's been so sick lately, and Roxie is too stressed, and Mary, I just don't want hip pain instead of neck pain.....I think I'd take my ache over yours. So I guess Ronne won the 'I want your body contest?'

Mary, it's amazing how one part of the body can affect the other. For example, sitting straight on a couch you wouldn't guess it would affect my neck, right? Or, the pain in my neck is on the left side, but it's the right that is so tight. So maybe you are compensating your body in such a way to affect your shoulder because of your hip?

Roxie, I was worried your "fixes" to the house would run more expensive, it seems that's always the case. We actually had the buyer put a hole in the tile in the shower to prove it wasn't fixed (ie wallboard was weak)....we didn't know that was what the "problem" was that was reported. And of course, the realtor said it would be best to fix everything, cost a small fortune. I hope it works out for you and you can put this behind you.

Jody, I don't think I could do 12 hr days AND do the w/o's you do! Even if you are older you are better :) there did I make up for my you are older transgression?

Ronne, or should I say Suzy Sunshine? tricep p/u on toes? no wonder we all crave your body. never, ever have I done them like that, I use the ball. I'm learning not to be a hero....I always push myself too hard (and look where I am). In fact, on one machine at the chiro (stretches you out), they adjust it and ask how it is, I asked, am I where I was last time? Nope. Well we have to get to that level. Doc said, you don't always have to get to the same level or better, you had an extra day off last time compared to today when you are probably feeling tighter since you had one less day of recovery. OK, ok, message rec'd, I'll try to remember it.

So my neck stretches take a good 45 min a day out of my day, at times I feel like I could be a bobble head :) there's your funny for the day....

Well its a snow day here at least 5" on the ground and still coming down. I did HS timesaver no conditioning and then I am going to do XT CB&S before I start packing and later I will do XT Legs and then I should be all caught up. DH can't make it home tonite so he is going to stay in our other house in the new town so I have all day.

Lisa-glad to hear you are feeling a little better wish I could like yoga.

Ronne-I am going to develop your attitude about your body. Good job doing the pushups on your toes.

Jody-I wouldn't mind your body either but 125 on me looks fat because I am short.
 
Mary, regarding insurance, I pay 40 dollars copay each visit to the chiropractor. Hopefully everything else is covered I don't know yet. I have a max of 30 visits for a year. The cost is adding up!
 
Roxie, we got maybe 4 inches. It's already been melted off our driveway and sidewalk. That's 0 times we've had to shovel this year.

It's almost 2pm, I've finally gotten most of the stiffness and soreness worked out from the adjustment yesterday.
 
Hi girls! Today did TB, just the leg premix, it had been a while since I last did it, it was harder than I remembered. I bow to Jody doing it 4 times a week! Jody, maybe the queen just doesn't appreciate you? Or she is just a witch? There are a lot of them out there, makes for a long day however! Thank goodness she isn't your co-worker. Like I tell my students when they encounter a crabby nurse, we can learn from everyone, how we want to be and more important how we don't want to be! Ronne, I'm bowing to you too! Tricep pushups on your toes?! Next year you will have a teenager!! Roxie, be careful shoveling, dangerous work! I hope everything gets cleared out for the move. Lisa, it sounds like you are turning a corner? DH said the same thing, being off on my gait is probably messing everything else up. I have to wait til the end of May to see this guy, then heaven knows how long I will have to wait to get the actual surgery! Holy cow on the co-insurance! That is a lot of money every week! You are worth every penny! I hope you continue to improve and will just need maintenance! Have to get dinner for the kids, tomorrow is Friday!!!! Mary
 
Did a YT session. Seriously I can't believe how much better in feel! Was looking forward to it all day. Maybe because of all the soreness. I may suck at it but I like how it makes me feel, and that's all that matters, right?

Also, was doing some research on soreness after adjustment and I also found some people can get slight fever as toxins release from the body along with soreness 24 hours after adjustment. I had been feeling chilled at times, mostly when I was sore which I thought was weird since I'm always hot. Guess it wasn't in my head after all.

Good Evening,

I got all caught up on my workouts today and got some of the packing that is left done. DH doesn't think we will be able to move now until Sunday the weather is just not cooperating. We got and incredible deal on the new furnace so thank god for that. I just finished XT Legs.

Mary-I couldn't shovel DH has them but the neighbor shoveled all the driveway except for mine.

Roxie - so did you do 3 Xtrain workouts in one day?!!! Is today your last working day? Hope the bosses are nice to you!

Lisa - love my new nickname!! :p Your dr is so right - we push ourselves too much sometimes. Sometimes I think this forum doesn't help (not our group, mind!). When you read the posts about people working out X many hours a day or eating nothing but carpet dust, it can add to the pressure we all feel to do more.

Mary - I don't know how you manage with the discomfort you must have. Is driving OK?

So,be careful what you wish for!! :mad: Developed really bad lower back pain last night - I usually get back pain with my periods but this felt much worse than normal. I was worried it would tip over into the spasm I had at Christmas. It's still there today but not as bad, so being a sensible Lisa, I've skipped HS today and replaced it with YR. Just did the second express premix. It seemed to help and I'm hoping it will be gone by tomorrow.
Got to make a chocolate marshmallow pudding for DD tonight, then she's got a friend coming for a sleepover tomorrow, so it's birthday stuff all weekend.
 
Good Morning,

We got another 2" of snow last night bringing the total to 7". I need to go to work this afternoon and I don't have a shovel and the neighbor did the main part of the drive but not my driveway. Dh's DS is going to come over and shovel it for me. Today is XT Tabata 2 and maybe core 1.

Ronne-yes I did do 3 workouts spread throughout the day yesterday and surprisingly right now I feel ok. The bosses want me to come into work at 1 and yes this is my last day. I really need to start working yoga into my routine my body could really use it.
 
I missed another xtend, left house too late to guarantee getting into studio on time (they lock the door after workout starts) so I came back and did Lowmax- warming up with the first two segments of step and blast and then just doing all 7 blasts premix followed by the abs from BG. I still need to do anther workout today to make up for Tues miss.

Ronne Sunshine, yes your mind set toward body image would be good to have but I wouldn't mind being able to match you on push ups!

Mary, happy Friday! I'll try to make a shift in my thinking around school. I need prayer and meditation. I should join the yoga trend.

Roxie, did you get out of your driveway? All that transition, work + home, ack!

Lisa, How's the neck today. That is interesting about the toxins being released, it makes sense. So glad you are feeling better, that is awesome. And the yoga is helping, huh?

Felt pretty good, just lower back ache (I'm sure from chiro), so did LM interval 5-7 (not as good as you Jody, was good match for me for now and I'm accepting it). My body does feel better after the yoga and I think I notice slight increase in some flexibility (mostly chest because I'm doing other physical therapie for that). Am I starting a yoga trend, if I can do it, you all surely can! I like how YT gives options for us non-flexible ones and doesn't make you feel less than. Ronne, are you channeling me too with the low back ache? Just like Mary did with the shoulder? You all are going to kick me out! I'm spreading my aches and pains! Ah, happy to share!

Yesterday's chiro visit left me really sore. He asked if I was sore the last time, and I said of course, he said, that's good, that means your muscles are working the way they are supposed to be. Thinks the yoga is doing good too, got a lot of cracks between my shoulder blades, he said, you really needed that. So after I got home, I tried drinking a lot, doing yoga to keep soreness at bay....the soreness set in right when I was doing yoga, and had a rough night, stiff morning. I only did about 1.5 miles on elliptical and then finally after the soreness eased up I did some yoga.

Ronne, how many yoga classes have you done on YT? I think I decided I like Neesha the best.

Mary, busy is good, right? We have some stuff going on with DS24 that I don't want to go into, but it's put a damper on things, and tonights anniversary celebration :(

Roxie, you all busy moving? Life keeps throwing us challenges doesn't it?

Jody, how's barre going? How much longer do you have on it?
