40's - week of 1/13/13

Hi girls! Today did a mix up of the TM, rower and spin bike. Yesterday afternoon I also did burn sets CB&S. Has anyone noticed Greg in the back during the warmup? He's kind of pathetic! Haha! Also, my glutes are SORE from the hip thrusts, that almost never happens! Lisa, hop pe your neck feels better, that is miserable. Yes, mouth is getting better, thank you! Ronne, what are you trying tomorrow? Jody, you keeping up? Thinking of you! Roxie, what did the realtor say? So much work! Murphy, hello to you! Have to get the kids soon, one more day of midterms Mary

Hi all. Still here and computer still crappy. Today I did teh all out hit w/o. I like it and I did most of it. I skipped the part with doing something on the floor and up into front kick. I just could not do it. Yesterday was a rest day and Monday was Hard Strikes. Next time I will try the weighted gloves.

Lisa - thought of you today, I opened a new LUSH soap.
Mary(?) - hope the tooth and you are better. Tooth problems suck.
Jody - hang in there.
Roxie - how is the move/sale/etc. going?
Ronne - glad you are back. I like Burn Sets, it moves quickly.

Good Afternoon,

I did Xtrain Bis and Tris before the realtor arrived and while he was taking pictures we looked at the comparables and we are not asking near enough so waiting for what they suggest we list at. Dh and I went out and spent the afternoon watching GS while dd cleaned house lots of cuddle time.

Murphy-still working on the sale and moving.

Hi all

Lisa - that is so boring!! What a waste of your time (and their money!). It's so frustrating.

Roxie - how nice you got some time with GS

Murphy - are you doing a rotation as well?

Mary - how are the kids holding up with the exams?

Today was Cardio Blast Legs. Wow!! Actually I really enjoyed it and was talking to Cathe! I thanked her when she went easy on us! Matched most of weights (I always go lighter on plies, due to old groin issues) and I went down to 2 risers when Cedie did. Considering it was nearly an hour, it felt like it flew past. Feeling good and not too many DOMS from yesterday.

Hi everyone! Today did BS Bi/tri. Tried to go heavier, didn't always succeed! Ronne, sounds like you are enjoying the new ones! I like cardio legs, but I really enjoy the other leg one! Murphy, I know which move you are talking about, I can't do it either! I just do them standing, I don't go down low, I don't know if I could get back up! Roxie, that's great news about your house! How fun is that baby!? Lisa, how's your neck today? I think with all the hassle you put up with work you deserve every penny! Take it and run! Jody, you holding up ok? First week is almost over! Well, midterms are going great for one of the twins, terrible for DD, she didn't know what to expect, she BOMBED her biology test. So heartbroken, after she found that out she had to study for her other 2 today. I don't know how much she really retained since she was so upset. And of course, DS aced all his exams, which was making her feel even worse. Thank goodness it's over today! Have a good day, little one has basketball game tonite, no school til Tuesday, I think we will go to the zoo tomorrow. Mary

Today I did my version of TTM, I probably took out pushups, burpees, mtn climbers but I can't remember. The problem with making these in the workout blender is the audio doesn't always match the video and then with taking segments out I think I missed out on some of the rests (and you need those with tabatas and hiits!) Got to compound leg work and I only used 5 lbs since she lifted them over her head so that I wouldn't aggravate my neck. I ended up on second round not lifting them over my head, felt my neck tensing. Then got to core w/ UB focus, no way, so did 1/2 of Xtrain Core#1.

I couldn't face going into work with nothing to do, so I stayed home. Worst case they will talk with me, I'll give them an excuse (I have one ready--and it's partially true). At this point, whatever happens, happens, I can't take going in there with nothing to do. I had a great day yesterday, did elip for 2 miles (in .5 mile increments), put together my quilt I'm working on while blasting the spotify music in my playlist on my personal computer....I was singing along having a good time. I remember one time, I must have been belting out "this girl is on fire", I took a break, came out to the family room and DH asked "are you on fire?" lol!

Mary, oh, I'm riding this gig as long as I can.....I figure I'm making up for all they stole from me when they changed the retirement plan(I got shafted because I wasn't 40 at the time, but I had a lot of years of service--I started at 19 with them). Neck, a little better, I still need to baby it though and I'm determined. Maybe it's meant to be that I do more cardio/legs to burn some extra fat? BTW, I was playing around in workout manager, saw my total calorie burn was 2500 or so, went to change my stats (figured since I wasn't at the uber low weight anymore that I should be burning more?), anyway, went to go change my weight (to up, boo), and saw my age was still 46, so changed that to 48, my total calorie burn when to 2400!!!! I think it's the age factor kicking in saying you burn less, grrrrr. Poor DH froze all day yesterday because I wouldn't put the heat above 59....I get too hot, doing bursts on the elip and crawling around putting my quilt together. I told him he needs to do bursts on the elip....he hasn't listened to me, claims he needs to work, I told him there is such a thing as breaks and it's better than laying on the bed for a break watching tv! So, hopefully I"m set to burn 1 lb a week for a while even with that. re: kids and grades, my youngest is the brainiac, I always tried to highlight the things the oldest exceled in to him so he didn't feel bad (not that he didn't get good grades, just not 4.0 like the youngest).

Ronne, I bow to you, you youngster! I always use 1 riser, no matter what (except for step ups). And with all that cardio, I couldn't go as heavy as Cathe. I find it interesting about Cedie going with less risers and not jumping as much, maybe age is catching up with her too?

Murphy, I don't remember that exercise, but I'm sure I had problems with it as well. Remember, I'm the one that uses the high step w/1 riser to do burpees, mtn climbers, etc. I can't get down to the floor and back up fast enough. DIL brought me a sample of a LUSH product(roots), what soap did you open? Right now I only use their lotions (helps the dry skin in this arid climate), and some of the hair stuff. So far the job isn't bringing in what they need though, I hope after her training she gets more hours and eventually more $. She is enjoying being able to wear something other than black (for Mac she had to wear black). Hoping she gets some freelance work too. I know my DS is getting worried about money flow.

Roxie, that's great that the comps came back higher. Sounds like you had a nice day yesterday.

It's 2:00pm here, I've gotten in 2.75 miles on the ellipitcal in throughout the day. I've now allowed heat to flow for DH, the thermostat is on a whopping 62 now! :)

Good Evening,

Tonite I did Xtrain Legs Premix 2 excludes the rear delts, I cannot feel my legs. I need to help DH load some more but he is busy playing a video game, the realtor emailed and wants the family room in the basement cleaned out. We told yougest dd that she is going to have to find another home for her dog it breaks my heart but we can't move with him and her bf is allergic to dogs.

Lisa-I would freeze in your house I was cold in my house last night and the thermostat is set at 72.

Mary-I love that baby, its amazing how fast you fall in love with them.

Hello everyone

Roxie - so do you have to empty your house to be able to sell it? That's not generally the case here.

Lisa - I only ever do 5lbs in those segments (and in CrossFire) as I'm just too pooped to manage 8 by then! Sounds like staying at home is way more fun!

Mary - that's hard on the kids (and you!). Cheering for one and consoling the other!

Well, the snow is coming down thick and fast here. DD's school closed early so she's gone out sledging with some friends. DH has also come home early even tho' he works locally. The roads are clogging up and it's just not worth hanging around. The snow's forecast to be here for a few days so we may not be going very far! Quite cosy really with me working upstairs and DH downstairs.
Got my workout out of the way this morning luckily. I switched the rotation around as I had a bit more time so did ALOHA (or whatever the acronym is!) the Hiit one, with Core 1 premix. I think you've all been talking about the switch lunge kicks? Amy Bento has those in one of her DVDs so I've done them before! Pretty ungainly but I did them. Core wasn't as bad as I was expecting (I was probably thinking of something else). Tho' I did give up on the very last plank hold at the end.

Hey, I did AO too (I like ALOHA better), I don't know all the acronyms either. That workout is a good one!

Ronne, good to hear someone else using 5's on CF. My neck was really bothering me yesterday (hauling the quilt to sew it), but surprisingly feeling pretty good, this is when I"d normally over do it and restart the cycle, I'm not going to do that this time! And yes "working" from home is much more fun, I could get spoiled (even more than I already am). I figure I better show up 2 days next week, ugh!

Roxie, The things we have to do to sell a house! My sister in FL has had her's on the market for at least 4 yrs! It's a very high end house (way out of my range!) Hopefully you find a good home for the dog, that is sad. Maybe Jody will take it! :)

Hi all! Today did CBL and the hip thrust challenge. I'm going to do that twice a week, see if I can lift my fanny! Ronne, snow overseas sounds so much more romantic than it does here! Roxie, haha! Your DH sounds like mine, except mine focuses on fantasy football! I would never want to stop holding that baby! Lisa, are you going in to work today? You and I do the same with the heat, I got DH an electric blanket for his side of the bed, he loves it and I'm still chilly, we are both happy. Hi Murphy! Jody, it's Friday! Week over! Heading to the zoo, hope the animals like the cold! Mary

Good Morning,

I didn't get much sleep last night my knee has been bothering me alot the last 2 days and I can't find my knee brace I know some of it has to do with the weather changing. I will do Hard Strikes Conditioning when I get home.

Ronne-I don't have to clean everything out of my house but they like buyers to see how much square footage is in your house and they can imagine their furniture in the space. I am just packing stuff that we don't need and furniture we are not using.

Lisa-I would love to find a job where I could work from home. I think my nephew who lives about 45 mins away is going to take the dog he has a nice big fenced in yard and another dog that he can play with.

Mary-I love holding that baby and kissing him on the head. He seems to know that when grandma is around he will be held momma put him in a jumper when we were there and he didn't want anything to do with that.

Hello

Mary - believe me, snow is not particularly romantic here!! Tho' DD did have a blast sledging and has gone out again today. I can't believe you're going to do that twice a week - your butt'll be up round your ears! (BTW, you do know what fanny is here, don't you? :p)

Lisa - can you take your quilt in to work with you? Or would that just be taking the p***?

Roxie - oh, well that's not so bad. I know how stressful selling is. It took us about 8 months to sell our flat and it was a nightmare. We ended up not paying our estate agent as we had a big fight with them. Horrendous, I've said I'm going to die in this house!!

Switched the rotation again today, so did Legs. Did Premix 1 but skipped the ball/chair section so it was a more manageable 70 mins. I am definitely going to have DOMS from this!! Wow! Toughest one so far I think. I missed a few reps here and there as my legs were stinging! The end of the floor section just finished me off, all those leg lifts were agony.
Going to the cinema this afternoon, DD and DH are going to see Life of Pi and I'm going to see The Impossible.

Good Morning,

I worked later then I wanted to yesterday because the bosses wanted to leave early so by the time I ran errands and got home to and fixed supper it was late and I needed to clean out the pantry dh built so he could load it and the hutch so the kitchen is now down to just the dining room table and he took a stand out of the livingroom my house is starting to look empty. Today is Xtrain All Out Low Impact Premix 1 and Core 1 then I will still try and fit in HS Conditioning.

Ronne-I hope we sell before 8 months and since I have moved 14 times in our 30 years of marriage I would love to find a place to just park it.

Hi girls, sounds like everyone is having fun on the xtrain! ha ha, I'm on the xbarre. 4th workout this week is today and is with the Creator.
I spent some bestie time yesterday afternoon. She has a garden and bees = fresh lettuces and veggies we picked and honey (already harvested). Brit friend said garden reminded her of home.
Roxie, you are so good, I would have blown off the workout. Yea for holding baby.
Ronne, snowed in did indeed sound cozy. But maybe your snow day is like my tropical storm, local flooding day. More ick than cozy.
Lisa, I use 3's in barre but different type of workout.
Mary, let me know if the hip thrust challenge does lift your fannies, I'm sure all versions of mine would benefit from some sort of lift. : D
Waves to Murphy and all.

Just finished one of my workouts and after I took DHs paycheck to the bank I stopped by the store and got a new knee brace because I still can't find mine I know I will when I start packing up the bedroom but I need something until then. I will do HS later. I really like the All Out Low Impact workout.

Jody-I am not that good its getting harder to stay motivated to workout with everything else that is going on.

Hi girls! Today did CB&S, the 1st disc. Jody, how are the workouts so far? Are they really hard? How was school? Roxie, hope your knee feels better. Ronne, have fun at the movies. The Impossible looks frightening. Maybe because it really happened. Lisa, where are you? What are you up to? Hi Murphy. Zoo was great yesterday, hardly anyone was there, the animals were so active. I saw the cutest armadillos running around! I could have watched them for hours! We have a party tonite. Hope everyone has a great Saturday! Mary

Did Cycle Max today. I don't like it as much as Ride, but I'm beginning to appreciate spinning....it really works the core--bonus! I don't like the music as much in Cycle Max and it seemed harder maybe? I did do 2.25 miles of bursts on the elliptical yesterday. The trick will be keeping with that on the weekend and when I go into the office. I have the scale moving in the right direction! So now even more motivated!

Mary, that's a lot of leg work! You need to get a spin bike, I really feel it in the glutes (like they've worked but not DOM-like if that makes sense) and of course the quads (the one part, plus calves I think are the best on me). Maybe if everyone could just look at my head (for my hair) and my legs and leave the rest out? lol How much weight are you using on hip thrusts? I found 40 very challenging. My hot/cold cycles for me....wonder why? :p;)

Roxie, we've only moved 2 times in our 27 yrs of marriage. After the last move, I swore we would never move again. Next time we move (if we move) there is a LOT to clean out! Some stuff I saved for kids, and of course when they grow up, they don't want it!

Ronne, DH and I are discussing leg hair :) I told him when he shaves his, I'll shave mine :) He just likes to give me a hard time. I told him I'm channeling my inner European ancestry. :) Boss messaged me yesterday, I thought, oh no, I'm in trouble. Nope he was just trying to see who was covering for the team lead (he probably figured me, but it wasn't me, my team lead knows better than to ask me to cover her), turns out, what he was inquiring about was what I VOLUNTEERED to do and was working on. so yea me on 2 counts! 1 for being right on it to answer his message and 2 for the covering person to tell him it was me doing the work (all 5 mins --- ok, really 40 mins but only because I kept getting TRLDV typed as TRLBV---I knew something was wrong but couldn't figure it out! lol )

Murphy, what xtrains are you doing?

Jody, fresh honey? YUM! I once had fresh (comb and all) and it was the best I've ever had. Now is that on your diet plan? :)

Better run, DH says my fingers have been going a mile a minute...probably because I have to go back and correct typing mistakes

Lisa, I have a spin bike. How much does you wheel weigh? Ours is 44 lbs, is that the normal? It get so had when I turn the tension up, maybe something to work towards?

Mary, I'm guessing around 50 lbs. I've learned not to try to be a hero, just spin with what works for me (for speed and resistance). I have problems with standing speed work, that's the hardest for me. Cathe's info thru the workout really helped me "learn" what to feel on the wheel for what resistance I want for whatever drill we are doing(hope that makes sense). Do you have Cycle Max AND Ride?
